I noticed my review is gone when a Yelper liked one of my Eloise photos. I love this shop. I will try to get updated photos next time I visit the Plaza Hotel. I don't have a little girl any longer but if I did I would surely take advantage of all the activities and merchandise in this store. The basics of the story is that Eloise is a young girl who lives in the "room on the tippy-top floor" of the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her nanny, her pug dog, Weenie, and her turtle, Skipperdee. I'm sharing photos I posted previously with my review. I was fortunate the day I visited I had the store to myself. I felt welcome and not pressured to make a purchase. One of my daughter's favorite spots to visit located at the basement of the Plaza. Everything you can imagine by the character Eloise is sold here. I love how they allow children to sit on their animal bean bags and large studies. They sadly took away the little pink piano they had in a mirrored nook for kids to play with. We've been coming here to take pics of my daughter on the pink piano since she was a baby. It will be missed. But every little girl should visit Eloise at least once and definitely see her movies more than once. read more

Ok this is just absolutely adorable. If I ever have a little girl, this is definitely going to be on the bucket list. I stopped in just to see everything and this is just totes adorbs, there's no other definition for it. I was really tempted to buy one of the Eloise ornaments or artworks, but was afraid they'd get broken on the train back to Connecticut. I ended up here because I have close friends who have a little girl named, Eloise. So I thought what a GREAT place to buy her a little something. Honestly a little something here starts at about $40. It's a sweet shop - it's a little bit like an American Girl Store - who is a shop for people who would normally spend hundreds of dollars on gear for their little girls. I think if you are really into the Eloise story or if you know a little girl named Eloise this place would be magical....but as a place to get some things it's a little overpriced. read more

This is the cutest store EVER! And I would have to take out a second mortgage on my house to afford anything that wasn't on sale. The store is half boutique half play area. In addition to the retail (the most beautiful little girl's dresses priced anywhere between $130 - $170 a piece) there is a toy piano for the kids to play with and a play area where they have tea party toys. I really love the clothing in this shop but between the high prices and my daughter's love of ketchup and sharpie markers, I think not. Luckily, there was a sale going on while we were there. I was able to get my girls the most adorable lined raincoats at 40% off which made the prices reasonable. When we are in the Plaza (restaurant, hotel or food hall) we always visit The Eloise Shop. read more

I was so excited to take my grand daughter to Eloise. After reading her the books for years. While the Eloise products were great, the sales personnel were not. In particular one older lady with short dark hair, she had a scowl on her face and was rude. I choose not up buy anything because of her attitude. . Not Kid friendly at all. my first time at this place so I wanted to take my time to see all the beautiful things they have and buy but instead of buying something I felt all the negativity from a lady who was at the register, she followed us through all the store giving us bad looks, rolling her eyes. yes I admit my toddler was a little here and there, but come on ! We registered in advance for a hip hop class with Peridance at the Eloise Shop in the basement of the Plaza Hotel, and our daughter had a great time. There were only 4 little girls signed up, so it wasn't crowded - if you're planning a party there, be aware that the party space is *very* small. The staff was kind and accommodating and gave all the girls goody bags and set up a small tea party for them with pink lemonade, cute fruit kebabs, and cookies. The workshop was brief and pricey, but you pay for the Eloise ambiance. The shop itself is very cute, with lots of adorable clothes for ages 4-8 and all sorts of toys and books. In the back, there is a TV that plays the Eloise movie for the kids to watch while they wait for their workshop to begin. When you exit the shop, there are many other interesting stores and places to eat in the surrounding area inside the hotel. I'm not sure that I would make a special pilgrimage just for the store as it is tiny and many of the products sold there are available elsewhere, but I would definitely sign up for another workshop and/or a future tea party. If you're in the city with a little girl, check the schedule and see what programs are running during your stay. read more

I booked the Lady Eloise Rawther Fancy Tea Party for my daughter and wife on January 31st, 2020. My debit card was charged three separate times for two tickets. It is over 2 weeks later, mulitple phone calls and emails and no refund. I believe it is a scam. Most people charge the tickets and few will go line by line through their statement the next month. Ok. No "eye rolls" here. I agreed to stop in here today to check out the Plaza's recent renovations. Because I have so many nieces, places like this pop up on my radar. This place is so much better and less crowded than American Girl. (I've been to the one in Chicago and NYC) However, You kinda have to be bought into the whole Eloise thing. She's not the most attractive little brat) I mean, she's really not even cute. However, her story is interesting as a New Yorker. The fictional story goes like this: The kid lives in the Plaza hotel, and has the run of the place. Crap, that's my dream, so why NOT buy into and promote that idea. If only for the fact that you know that rug will get ripped out from under their feet someday, and they'll end up like you, in a cold water flat in Brooklyn, in a second floor walk up. lol The Plaza has very real and somewhat famous portrait hanging in one of the areas of the lobby. Downstairs amongst the SUPER-ELITE shops. (sorry, I get a little freaked out when I see hat shops that sell hats that look like they are from Alice in Wonderland or the Easter parade down 5th avenue. "I'm like...who buys this stuff?!!" anyway, nestled downstairs is this little shop, with more girlie girl stuff than you can shake a stick at. Doll, China, Tea sets. They have a nice tea party room set up, with the menu on the table, of something like $32 per person. There was no one in there on this rainy Sunday afternoon, so it'd be a good place for silver spoon kids to chill with their other trust fund buddies. Eek! 6 year old me was soooo in love. I used to read the books so being in the hotel and shop overall was a dream. I wanted to buy it all and then have a tea party, but it was a day trip and I was poor. Most of the stuff is as expensive as a gift shop in amusement park, but it's all very sweet. This is really such a super-cute shop with high-end little girls' dolls and all things Eloise. For anyone who doesn't know Eloise, she is the legendary storybook character created by author Kay Thompson and illustrator Hilary Knight in "Eloise: A book for precocious grownups" while staying at The Plaza in 1954. Eloise is a mischievous 6 year old girl who lives at The Plaza with with Weenie, her pet pug, Skipperdee, her turtle, and her nanny. She spends rainy days having tea at the Palm Court. The Eloise Shop in the Plaza's retail space made me feel like a little girl again. It's an interactive shop, meaning you can go just to have fun and not buy anything, like we did. They have a little play tea party room, a stage to perform on while trying on the clothes, and a pillowy room to hang out and watch TV in. We only inspected the facilities like good repressed adults, but next time I will go with someone who has kids so I can join in in a societally approved manner. read more

This is solely on customer service. The ship itself is cute, but when I went to purchase a few items for my niece for Christmas, the woman working was terrible. The previous customers received cute gift bags and when it was time to leave the woman did not want to give me a cute bag because it was against company policy. I bought a few items and was surprised by her response. She finally said she will give me a bag out of the goodness of her heart but that's full of shit. Honestly I felt I was treated disrespectfully because I was the only asian customer in there, but who knows. read more

This is a review for the Eloise Tea with Santa which takes place at the tea salon off the Eloise shop during the holidays. I would not recommend this experience to anyone as it is a complete rip-off. The Plaza charges $100 per child and $50 per adult for a 1 hr tea service that is incredibly skimpy. I had 2 adults and 3 children in my party, and the amount of food that was brought out was maybe only enough for two children to have a light snack. There were maybe 5 tiny (about 1 inch by 3 inch) tea sandwiches, 5 minuscule cupcakes (even a toddler could finish in a single bite), 4 bite size smores (not even enough for all 5 of us to try), 5 bite size cookies, and a few berry skewers. At one point, we did ask if we could possibly get more fruit, but the hostess confirmed that they "had put out everything they were supposed to." At $100 per child, it is ridiculous that they wouldn't offer to refill things that were finished--especially since they brought out about the same amount of food to a table of 3 guest as they did for our table of 5 guests. The bathroom situation is also not at all kid friendly. There is no bathroom in the tea salon, so you have to walk across the entire food court to get to the very busy food court bathrooms. This is both inconvenient and a huge waste of time, since the tea service is capped at 1 hour. I had my two children with me and since they each had to go to the bathroom once, we probably missed half the tea service simply from the long walk and waiting in line at the busy bathroom. Avoid this tourist trap at all costs!!! read more

We just celebrated her birthday with seven of her 4-year-old friends and the girls had a BLAST. The staff provided both the kids and the parents with professional, attentive, first-class service. This was the most stress-free birthday my wife and I have planned ever. A truly unique and memorable experience for the kids, and a fund stress-free, intimate experience for the parents. On the surface, this place looks and feels magical. Unfortunately in substance, the place falls flat and resulted in a very disappointed five year old. My daughter fell in love with a lot of the merchandise, but landed on an Eloise alarm clock. The price was steep, but I thought it would be worth it for an old-timey clock we could set together and listen to the rattling of the bell. Unfortunately when we got our package home, we realized it was a cheap electronic buzzer attached to cheap piece of plastic run on a double A battery. So disappointing and feels like a rip off at $45. The staff also seemed rather grumpy. read more

Very cute store, an absolute must see. However, be very careful purchasing items in the store. Due to the nature of the store (it's cute, girls are so excited and it's a very tactile retail experience, kids are invited to touch and feel, etc), we've found on several trips that often merchandise is not in perfect condition. For example, rips in an outfit, merchandise that children have written on, etc. Just review your purchase carefully...look in every spot...before you decide to commit. What a cute little shop! Overall, it is a young girls dream come true. I visited on July 3rd - when you enter through the front doors of the Plaza, head towards the tea room - straight ahead. Make a left and you will follow alongside the tea room and into a corridor with an escalator going down. Down the escalator make a right and head straight, you will end up right at the shop. It is best to call and ask for their operating hours since they do change but generally they are open M-S from 11-6. On Sundays they open from 12-4. The place is pink all over, from pink walls, rugs.. decor.. there are Eloise dolls and tutu's .. wooden play sets, hair accessories and jewelry. The only downside to the place, is how expensive their merchandise is. For an example, the classic Eloise black bowed headband costs $35. But looks like something you could buy for $3. Luckily my daughter was more interested in playing. They have a dress up room, a tea room and a lounge room with bean bag chairs, set up infront of a flat screen tv (which is playing Eloise cartoons). Overall, I will return to this cute shop! It was fun and my daughter enjoyed the tea room the most! This place is very girly and over the top and just something you need to see and experience for yourself. **Also, I need to upload pictures, as the shop is rearranged differently than what the website shows. Hi, I would just like to talk about my wonderful experience with Michelle, at the Eloise store. First off I called on a busy Wednesday to ask if they have any tea sets, and she told me they had two . And offered to take pictures of both. And texted them to me what a great help that was for me since I was in Pennsylvania. And could get up there to see the set. I looked at it and ordered it on. A Friday it was to my house by noon. I work in sales. What treat to have a great helper. She also send a awesome letter to my girl from Eloise herself. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT here! It was Christmas time and they had a huge tree designed by Betsey Johnson oops I mean Eloise herself! It was AMAZING!! Pink and glittery and perfect! There was even a note left on the mirror in lipstick from That devilish lil girl. This was all just in the lobby! We made it down the hall passing all of the classic Eloise paintings...it was magical for my daughter as she recognized everything in The Plaza from the movie! I would LOVE to rent the suite for the night but, the store is just as fab! Different themed rooms...dress up room with tutus and such for purchase. A stage with mini piano. A viewing room with pillows and puzzles and books ...playing Eloise movies of course! A tea room with wooden sets and tables and chairs that they sell. The main room also had a fabulous tree decked out in Ahh $75 ornaments!! Don't bump into that tree! They had stuffed animals of the characters in the book both Eloise and her turtle and dog skipperdee. Sooo cute! They had jewelry too! Our purchases were a book (very reasonable priced) and a Eloise locket. If we had not already bought her a ton for the holidays, the Eloise doll and painting were definitey a possiblilty...perhaps this year! You can definitely get into trouble here. The whole place was stunning in black white and pink bold walls, art and rugs. We are making this part of our yearly Christmas trip to NYC tradition! We ALL had a blast. If you're an Eloise fan, these side by side stores are a must-see while you're in NYC, especially because you also get a glimpse of the famous Park Plaza hotel and the Todd English food court (you could string together a fabulous lunch here with your visit). Located on the far side of the lower level (and I imagine on purpose to keep the kids away from the wealthy, adult guest!), these stores have FAR more than you could ever imagine in the way of Eloise merchandise and sweets. Be forewarned that the prices are pretty outrageous. We did manage to scoop up a t-shirt on the clearance rack. But our magnet cost us $10! Videos are constantly running and they don't mind if your children hang out on the comfy chairs & sofas. There's also a little tea room for parties and special events, but these events are pricy (bday parties start at $1200!). Despite the high prices, which was to be expected, it's pretty spectacular for a child. My kids loved it there, you can take loads of photos, and imagining that Eloise is still living there was enough to make it a definite stop on the NYC child-circuit. It's also an outstanding place to buy gifts for other Eloise fans, because of the way they bag things up (a very fancy box/bag) will save you gift wrapping and it really is quite fancy, which my kids thought was very cool ... just like Eloise. We gave it a 4 and not a 5 simply because of the cost of things. read more

My two girls, ages 8 and 5, are not huge Eloise fans, but I thought this might spark their interest and be a fun NY experience. They wandered past the very cute but unbelievably expensive merchandise and plopped down in the back room to watch the Eloise movie. After extracting them from the movie, we did have a really good time having a tea party in the play room for quite some time, but did feel like we were intruding because of the watchful eye of the sales associate who seemed to be more concerned whether or not we would buy something. We left with a $4.50 charm. We wanted to have a real tea party upstairs in the team room at the Plaza but again, way too expensive for our budget - $28 per child for small tea sandwiches and pastries and tea, and $48 per adult for the same. Overall, worth a quick stop but probably only for die hard Eloise fans. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the store. Everything about it is rawther darling. From the decor to the souvenirs, it's a dream. Even for an adult. However, after the built up excitement about my first trip to the Eloise store, I was extremely disappointed in customer service. I actually spent less money in the store because the workers in the shop were SO snobby and rude. I allocated $400 to spend for my nieces' Christmas gifts and spent $79 because I figured I could buy everything else online. About 10 of us waited outside for the doors to open at 11am on Sunday 16 October 2016. We were so excited with huge smiles on our faces anxiously awaiting the opening. The ladies came and went and kept sternly telling us that "we open at 11am." Accompanied with the rude expression, came foul attitudes and looks of snobbery. We would ask them for an item and they would rudely tell us they didn't carry it. They were even rude at check out, we all felt as if they didn't care about our business. We were SO disappointed in them, we thought that they would've been polite and excited to be working in the Eloise store. They acted as if they worked for Louis Vuitton with an air about them. I'm sorry to say, you work in retail... don't act as if you are better than your customers. Please hire positive and sweet workers. This was the ONLY poor experience we encountered in New York.
