This Target is located in the heart of 34th Street Herald Square, right next to Sephora and across the street from none other than the biggest Macy's in the entire world. Very close to all the train routes. Shelves are stocked and neatly organized for the most part. This spot is supposedly smaller than other locations in the city. But that's okay, at least I didn't see anything like toys lying on the floor. No kids running around. Clean aisles + brightly lit area + decently spacious to walk around on your own. Surprised to see some Squishmallows peeking out in between other plushies. So, I was trying to reach for the ones from the top shelf. Staff from afar saw me struggling to reach but didn't offer any help + kept looking on and went back to chatting/joking with a coworker. This was around 9:30pm on a Sunday evening. I guess just a minor hiccup there, I will let it pass. Customers can find a limited yet decent selection of things like electronics, groceries, beauty and skincare/makeup, hygiene related products etc in each of their specific sections/aisles. The designs on greeting cards looked lovely. Some things were on sale like cat food - $10 for 12 cans. You just gotta stroll around to find out. It's convenient to have a Target in Midtown/next to the major train lines. Maybe I will stop by again, hopefully the service from employees will be better next time. read more

This Target is my to go Target when I'm in that area. Very nice and convenient to me to pop in and out. I usually now check out the $1, $3, and $5 items section to see if there is anything good for my daughter. Most of the stuff is pretty cool, unique, and practically useful for that price but I think it is mostly junk. The items are very small in size though and can break easily. Some of the items are very fun after a few plays and get worn out soon so you got to throw them away. Recently I bought a small parachute man that you drop from some high height from the ground and it is supposed to fall down like a real parachute. It did fall down to the ground like a real parachute but it looked really boring after some plays. I also bought some nice ear phones for the 2025 holidays. One of them is designed really nice with present boxes on the ear buds and the other one got green gloves. The present box one was the only pair left on the shelf and when I scanned it to check the price, the product was sold out online so I quickly bought it. It is that popular. Too bad I need to attached these ear buds to a USB-C port for my iPhone so that is real bummer. I wished these ear phones came in USB-C port. But oh wells. read more

Stopped here for a soda & that was a quick easy find. The self checkout was nearby as well so I was in and out of the store. But walking in, there were a bunch of clothes on display for sale and the overpowering smell of incense from the street vendors made you want to just hurry up, and some of the clothes were cute but I'm sure they already had that smell in them due to the constant traffic and the nearby doors opening all day. It seemed like there was more merchandise in the basement level but I didn't make it down there. read more

Located in Herald Square and walking distance from our hotel. I needed a lunch box / cooler to bring back the cheesecake back home to FL that I purchased while at Juniors. I was able to purchase online for in store pickup. My order was ready within an hour and was able to walk up and get it once I arrived. They give reusable bags with the pickup orders which I thought was cool. The staff member working the area was quick and friendly. Service is fine depending on who you are, providing there is some minor hiccups from time to time, like getting bottle deposit fees mysteriously pop up on your receipt and the self checkout area not fully operating which slows things down, or other things that are just not available. Selection of items seems okay for me so far, I really just pick up, like a few items and that's it. All in all for what it's worth even though they should have more items in store, I give them three stars, maybe three and a half but can't. Glad a Target opened in the Herald Square area (and overall glad there's more Targets in NYC). Although the Targets are no where near the size and variety of super Targets in the suburbs, these stores do the job and are easy for grab and go items. This store has 2 levels - street level (check out, clothes) and bottom level (more clothes and everything else). I use the Target app to find which aisle the things I need are before coming here and it's always been super helpful and accurate. It makes my runs more focused and I don't end up buying more than I need. The past few times I came here in the last few months, the entrance on the 33rd street side was closed which was disappointing. I remember this entrance used to be open when the store first opened, which was convenient. Self check out is easy to use, like all the other Targets, and there's staff around to help and direct people to open registers. The space is a bit crammed. read more

This Target is in a very busy area in Herald Square and is always very crowded. They have a limited selection of items as the store is smaller than most locations, but they are one of the few Targets in the city that have a Dollar Spot area in the store, which is my favorite to browse. Self-checkout lines are long, but move fast and staff keeps it moving efficiently. One of my favorite places to pop into when I'm in the area with time to kill. read more

Target is my second home lol. This target was particularly amazing because, hello, it's in NYC. In the outside it looks tiny but it was surprisingly large inside. You walk in and there's an escalator downstairs to the clothes and makeup, pharmacy, groceries etc. Checkout is upstairs. Pre Black Friday sales were in effect and the store was well organized and stocked. read more

Came by the other day and it was a chaotic experience. The store was crowded and relatively organized and well stocked. There was a minimal selection of fruits downstairs with premium pricing. Packs of water were available in packs of 24, making it a heavy exercise to lug around Midtown. I didn't see any 6 pack or single bottles of water for sale...bummer. The check-out line was long with an employee with a Target name tag yelling out for those paying by debit or credit to step out?!? Turns out, self-checkout was only debit or credit. Target on 34th Street can be convenient at times. When I go to Hudson Yards for the day I walk right past this Target Location. This location has self check out and you definitely need to use it. If I use this location I want to get in and out quickly. It's not a Target where I just hang out to browse like I do in my neighborhood. There's nothing particularly wrong with the location. It is one of the more basic target locations out there, well it is actually a Target express. I have been here a few times and just now I found what I was looking for some Immune support Vitamin C tabs, not the Airborne ones but these are good too. Pretty quick easy checkout options, one is self check out and the other is cashier checkout and that is especially if you need a Cashback option. Downstairs there is a food market and clothing and a few isles that have toys both male and female. I prefer a bigger Target location in the future but this was honestly better than nothing. read more

Came in here on a Saturday to buy a game. This store is almost all self checkout. I wanted to pay with cash and had to walk past a long row of credit/debit only self checkouts and turn the corner and then found the cash only machines. There aren't any signs indicating that the machines that take cash are on the other side, I just found them luckily. When I finally did make my purchase, the machine said someone would be on there way to help with my change because the machine was having an issue. I stood there waiting for almost 5 minutes and no one came. I had to go get someone to help me. The employee banged the machine and still no change was dispensed. Finally they hand my receipt to one of the employees that was working a register and they gave me change. No one ever went to fix the broken machine that I used. The employee that I originally approached walked away after handing my receipt to the other employee, did not solve the issue with the machine though. Also the aisles were cluttered. My least Target location so far. read more

On our visit to New York, we needed to stop for additional water and snacks. I found this Target near the hotel. When I walked in, I was confused because all you see is registers!? There is an escalator on the left that takes you downstairs. That was where everything was! We found the water with ease and decided to take a quick stroll around. The store was not stocked very well but we weren't there to shop for fun. You have to take another escalator back up to purchase your items. The one thing that I liked the most was the fact that they give you a cloth bag. Overall, I'd shop there again if needed. read more

Ugh. If you want to experience gentrification at it's finest then make the bad decision to shop here. Be prepared to be surrounded by a combination of suburban tourist yokels along with locals who should know better than to shop here when there are a ton of mom and pop businesses in NYC that need their support. This location is over two floors but narrow and can make for an angry shopping experience when others won't get out of the way or keep bumping into you. Thank goodness I only ran into here for a gift card and they have plenty of self-pay kiosks. The lines for a cashier were a mile long. As compared to other Targets I have been to, especially the 116th street location, it seems pricier and the selection is definitely limited. It does look clean and as organized as can be, yet it reminds me of shopping at a glorified CVS or Duane Reade with clothing and housewares. At least there is a bathroom on the lower level in case you need to drop the kids off at the pool while shopping. read more

I dare you to shop this Target a week before Christmas on a Saturday. Besides the insane amount of people shopping on top of you, this Target was surprisingly well stocked and organized. I even found an employee to answer one of my questions. My advice would be to steer clear of this location unless you're absolutely desperate. When I called to let them know they told me the check was cashed. Now 7 months 25+ phone calls later after their crack (or maybe on crack) investigators sent me copy of cashed check TWICE which was never received by me never endorsed by me never cashed by me they're basically telling me tough luck. First trip I was actually in and out. I did look twice for the protein bars which was the reason why I stopped in anyway. Didn't find the ones I was looking for but there were a range of a few that I could choose. One that was on the list of the coupons I wanted to use as well. I also love that the assistant at self checkout honored the price I saw that was for my lunch meat rather then debate. She was patient and friendly. Target was not as chaotic like it normally would be on a Sunday. I think this is due to time and location. I walked in at 7:15 so most people honestly are on there way home from the city. So, it may the trip less painfully, especially since I was on my way home from Queens. Having to stop extra and then wait on a long line when you have to go to bed at a certain time is never that great. All I was doing was something I can make for the week that sticks to my meal plan, and can hold me over till I do my real grocery shopping. I appreciate this trip. This is a nice Target and I'm pleased it's just a 15 minute walk from my home in Chelsea. Many shelves are empty right now, probably due to a mix of pandemic supply problems plus shoplifting was essentially legal with the now departed Mayor DeBlasio. (Seems like Mayor Adams will put an end to that.) One thing that bugs me often when I visit here, that would be easy for management to fix: There are big wide entry ways on both 34th st and 33rd st. There are no signs directing you to one or the other to exit. When you approach the 33rd street exit the guard says "no" you have to exit on 34th st. Argh. Visited on August 29th, 2021 around 4pm. I rarely review places on Yelp these days, but I wanted to give a warning to anyone considering shopping here. The loss prevention team WILL follow you around and WILL accuse you of stealing items if you fit a profile. After having a lengthy conversation with the loss prevention team about my choice to use a canvas bag and I was finally allowed to pay for the things I came in for. Since the guy (Alex) wanted to be helpful, I insisted he carry my items to the desk, walk me to the counter and make sure I wasn't a threat to Target's profitability. Alex declined to help... Staff used to better here. Yesterday there were official looking people with tags who didn't work there and gave attitude when asked if they do. I waited a long time and had to hunt a staff member down to open the glass case. Previously there were lots of staff members around. When she came I mentioned that I hit the sensor to call but nobody came. She gave no response. After that she scolded me for opening the box which contained an unopened moisturizer. Horrible experience. I have never seen such unprofessional staff in my life. Alex should be terminated for yelling at and profiling customers. Buckle up, because you guys won't believe this long one here. My friend and I visited this location on 9/15 to pick up a few last minuet items in the travel section. It must have been near closing time but a security guard allowed us to enter the store at around 7:57pm (I have a receipt from the Sephora literally right next door). We headed downstairs and asked a team member where the aisle for travel items were. She told us a number but we may have gotten it incorrect and loaded two aisles away. A gentleman by the name of Alex yelled on the floor that the store was now closed and everyone had to go upstairs because the registers would be closing. Hmm... strange that it isn't being said on an intercom, but okay. He and another associate named Jared stopped my friend and I to advise us that we had to go. We kindly explained that we were just allowed into the store and asked another associate for guidance. Alex proceeded to YELL... and I mean YELL at us that we had to go, they were closed and we had to bring our items upstairs to checkout. We literally had zero items at this point. How can we checkout? Alex and Jared escorted us to the travel item section and while one stood on one side of the aisle, the other stood on the opposite. So to paint a clear picture, my friend and I are now barricaded in this aisle with two gentleman standing on either side, all the while Alex is yelling that we need to hurry up and leave. We are generally very calm individuals. We are very poise and respectful. Unfortunately it got to a point that I could not pick my items with this man-child yelling (legit yelling) at me. I had to yell at him that "I am not doing this. I am not going back and forth with you." I just wanted to get my items and go. I grabbed my items, excused myself so I could pass (because remember, we are being blocked at this point) and waited outside of the aisle for my friend. At this point, she is flustered and trying her best to not cry. Alex is now in the aisle with my friend so I returned to the aisle, standing between her and Alex so she can grab her items(still in the same travel section. Barely $5 an item). My friend has all her items and we walk towards the elevator with our cart. We are still being followed. Now to paint another picture, we have on corporate clothes and our name badges from our offices. You would have though we were some black thugs, the way Alex and Jared were treating us. For context, it is now roughly 8:15pm.... most of our shopping time was used listening to Alex lie about being the store manager and yell at us to GET OUT. A Caucasian gentleman decended the escalator. We turned to Alex and Jared and emphasized that their colleague upstairs allowed us inside just like this. Alex told the man that Target was closed. we continued to walk to the elevator and worry about ourselves but yup.... Alex and Jared still followed us. Words are still being exchanged, but mostly on Alex's part. I wanted to just drop everything and leave but we needed these items so bad. We leave the following day. While upstairs checking out in self check-out, we see the previous customer come back upstairs with a full basket. I almost lost it but kept my cool because I have dignity and will not allow someone's lack of professionalism turn me into a statistic by causing a scene. While we (two African American women) were reprimanded and screamed at, made to feel uncomfortable for 15 minutes, this gentleman got to shop in peace. Alex, Jared and Dean (the real manager on duty) should be ashamed. Alex is a liability to your company and should be terminated immediately. I see another customer has also been profiled by him recently. Once is an event, twice is a coincidence. Target, do not allow Alex to take you to three times where now it will be a repeated offense and give your company a bad reputation. Jared is new. Sometimes you have to come to New York City and see its equivalent of stores that you generally find out in the suburbs to really appreciate how different life in NYC can be. I am very used to Target stores in New Jersey that are generally the size of supermarkets (or bigger). However, space comes at a premium in NYC and this Target demonstrates just how even big companies like Target have to find a way to work within the limitations of these spaces. I honestly do not recall what this Target used to be, but the space is rather narrow, causing the store to have to take up a few floors of the building. For the most part this Target has almost everything you'd expect of a Target, but everything is shrunken down. That means the number of items on the shelves are fewer, the width of the aisles is smaller and in some cases your brand selection may be slightly more limited than a larger Target. Still, for those in the city who have only recently been given the opportunity to shop at Target it is a good alternative to the nearby K-Mart. For those who don't do well with huge crowds, be warned: when I went this place was practically being stormed by a combination of tourists and locals, so it was rather hectic getting through the store. Then again if you're bopping about 34 Street, you should just expect that. Not a bad alternative to nearby stores, but if you are looking for a larger Target the ones in Brooklyn and Queens are much bigger and spacious. read more

This is not about the products sold, but staff: I was checking out with a $25.03 payment due and gave the cashier two 20 dollar bills. I did not want to have to take 97 cents in change and all the singles that the 3 cents would cause and asked the cashier if she could just absorb the 3 cent loss and return a ten and a five dollar bill. "So, you don't want any change?" she said. "Right." As I was walking away I realized that she kept the 97 cents. I was annoyed and asked to see her manager who just laughed and said she agreed with the cashier's decision to charge me $26. read more

Target sold me TYSON frozen full cooked chicken & caused me SEVERE FOOD POISONING from consumption. I bought this product from Target @ this location on 07/26/21@appox.1pm, brought it back to my office which is a block away, and stored it in the freezer for a day, and consumed this contaminated product the next day @6:30pm. I immediately felt some nausea and stomachache halfway through eating this chicken, and 5 mins later, felt intense waves of nausea hitting me and vomited everything out violently after. I knew that recently there was a huge recall of TYSON products a few weeks back, but never knew they would still sell contaminated products on their shelves! I brought this back to this store the day after to get a refund, and since I threw the receipt out (never expected i'd get food poisoning), I produced the transaction statement with the transaction ID under the debit card i used to purchase this product, yet the employees were not being very helpful. They told me that in order to get a refund, they required my state ID, my passport, else they are unable to provide a refund. This is highly suspicious considering I produced the card i made the purchase with, and also the printed out statement of the transaction I made with Target where the ID is stated too, which they can easily pull up on the system. It took a lot of hassle to get a mere small refund. Target & TYSON has zero responsibility to their customers nor care for selling contaminated products. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was looking for a certain kind of dish soap and it was cheaper at Target so I decided to visit the store. It might actually be the first time I visited Target in NYC ever. It has two floors (ground and basement) and most home goods and groceries are located downstairs. The inventory of dish soap was low and there weren't that much variation at the store unfortunately, but I was able to get what I was looking for. The place is small so it gets crowded easily, but the store had a whole bunch of self checkout and the wait time was minimal. The guy right behind me skipped me to get to the self checkout that I didn't see (rude!) but otherwise it was an ok experience. The store is kept clean and organized. read more
