The Surgeon, Dr. Alfredo Rego, visited me before and after the surgery, He and his colleagues, Dr. Subramanian, Dr. Kenigsberg, Dr. Chaudry, and Dr. Tache, (sorry if I missed anyone) comprised an excellent and professional team dedicated to my recovery. The nursing staff in the Cardiovasculat Intensive Care Unit ("CVICU") was just as amazing. They were professional, kind, compassionate, responsive, and dedicated. Particular mention goes to (and sorry if I missed anyone) Adriana C. and Lucnise A. from the night shift; and Elienay J., Christian N., and Aaliyah from the day shift. Although I don't wish health issues on anyone, if in fact you need heart surgery, I would most definitely recommend the team at Westside.

I brought my brother to the emergency room with a severe open wound that was bleeding heavily and clearly needed stitches or surgery. I won't post a picture because it's graphic. Thankfully, I applied a wound-sealing product before we arrived. Despite the seriousness of his injury, he was left sitting in the waiting room with an open wound among everyone else for an extended period. That was very concerning to me. What disturbed me even more was the registration process. Registration staff were collecting patients' personal information out in the lobby where others could easily overhear. My brother, while still bleeding from his open wound, was taken to an area between two public restrooms to provide his personal information. From where I was sitting, I could hear other patients' names, addresses, medications, and other private information being discussed. In my opinion, patients deserve much more privacy and dignity than that. The only people who showed genuine compassion during our visit were the older white gentleman working security and Enrique, the ARMP. They treated us with kindness and professionalism, and I sincerely appreciate them. I previously worked in healthcare, including serving as a JCAHO Coordinator, so I understand the importance of patient care, privacy, and compliance. Based on what I personally observed during this visit, I left deeply disappointed. Every patient deserves respect, timely care, and protection of their private health information. Unless there are significant improvements in how this facility operates, I would not choose to bring a family member or friend here again. I hope hospital leadership takes patient experience, privacy, and quality of care seriously and makes the changes needed to restore confidence in this facility. I begged them to take him to another hospital because of the horrible stories I've heard about this place. They said they couldn't take him anywhere but here because it was the closest. The ER doctor was terrific. My FIL had to be admitted so it's been a couple of days now on the third floor. His nurse, Lisa, is a nightmare. The minute she saw me, she barked at me. He is in isolation and the room he is in has a marked door but when I opened it and she was sitting across the hall and yelled at me not to use that door and told me to go to another door, which I did. I didn't know she was a nurse because she was wearing a long sleeve T-shirt. My Brother In Law was here and stayed with me for a few hours then left. My FIL doesn't need much help because he sleeps a lot but was asking me about his catheter so I walked to the nurses station to ask for his nurse. After quite a while (maybe 15 minutes or half an hour - it's hard to tell since he didn't have the tv on so time goes by slowly) my FIL was asking again about the catheter so I told him to push the nurse button. A few minutes later, Lisa came busting in the door (the door she told me no one was allowed to use) along with a trainee and started yelling at me. She asked why I kept calling and calling so I told her I only asked for her two times and I don't consider that calling and calling. She said she was with another patient and this was not an emergency. I told her to go back to the other patient then and come back later and that we were just wondering about the catheter and his antibiotic. She had a bottle of my FIL's antibiotic in her hand and put it in my face and shook it violently at me. She began screaming at me now and said she was going to have me thrown out of the hospital by security. FOR USING THE CALL BUTTON! REALLY? Isn't that what it is there for? I am 66 years old and 5' tall, she was standing over me like she was going to hit me and I got scared. So, I sat down in the chair and starting texting my husband. I mumbled under my breath "Attitude" and she yelled at me that she doesn't have an attitude. After she left the room, I just started bawling because I was so scared. No one has screamed at me like she did since I was a child and my mom got mad. So, it was very traumatizing to be yelled at like that. I would not recommended anyone coming to this hospital ever. I'm sure most of the nurses are not as mean, rude and scary as this big girl, Lisa, but if they allow her to treat me like that in front of a trainee and no one discourages her then she will do it to you too. Maybe she trained the new girl to yell at her patients too since she got away with yelling at me. I called the hospital to speak to a Patient Advocate but had to leave a message. So, I am waiting to speak to someone about her behavior. Do yourself a favor and find another hospital and avoid being treated like an animal. I would like to take my FIL to another hospital but he is too weak and I don't want to put him through a transport. To let you know another thing...only one person has been in this room all day. I've been here since this morning and now it is 5:30 PM. One girl came in to bring his lunch and to take his vitals. I asked her for a toothbrush and toothpaste for him and she acted like she was going to bring it to him but that's been hours ago and no toothbrush or toothpaste yet. I'm afraid to go to the nurses station to ask for it but I guess I have to. Either that or wait until tomorrow to bring it from home. I see from other reviews that Lisa is an incompetent nurse. She treats all of her patients with rude behavior. If you get Lisa as a nurse, demand a different nurse or else your loved one will be treated with disrespect and you will be lucky if she even shows up to help. This happened a little while ago. Someone was supposed to call me after they spoke to Lisa but of course, no one ever did. That tells me how important it is to the entire hospital. They allow their nurses to mistreat their patients and their family. I will NEVER bring my family to this hell hole! George has passed away.

Cleveland Clinic's Emergency Department…read more Unfortunate to say that I'm pretty familiar with this ER but thankful to say it was a five star experience for the times I've been. I used to frequent for some issues I had a few years ago and even since then, it's transformed dramatically. For the recent times I came to visit a loved one, it's been so efficient and not a taxing process to go visit someone that is here, which is the best thing you can ask for if you're stressed and worried. They have security you have to check in with at the entrance and there are two areas to filter through, one for visitors and one for people coming to get medical attention. They have observation units and it's one of the nicest and cleanest Emergency Departments I've been to. Grateful for the care my mom received while here from all the health care providers, from the nurses to the techs and even the security guards!

After a family emergency caused me to miss the two-day follow-up, the receptionist -- rude, unprofessional, and careless -- refused to help and said I had to redo everything. They were rough during the exam and even left bruises on me. I paid $120 and had to fight just to get $80 back. If I had her name, I would report them to the health department in a heartbeat. We understand that it's Saturday and busy but that should not mean that compassion and standard of care should go by the way side. She was finally taken into triage and then into a room where she had to wait another 40 minutes before a nurse even came in to talk with her much less a doctor. We were sent over from an urgent care with discharge notes which were disregarded entirely and then a battery of tests were ordered. She sat there in pain for 2 hours before they even came to draw blood and take her for a ct scan. She then sat for over 3 hours waiting for those results. We're not unreasonable people but the lack of empathy, care, and service provided at this hospital is always lacking. The only reason we were come back is because there's no other option for miles. They have lots they could improve on!!

I am extremely disappointed with my recent hospital stay. I want to begin by saying that the nurses…read morewere great, as they always are. They were kind, attentive, and compassionate throughout my stay. Unfortunately, my experience with other members of the hospital staff was completely different. My biggest concern began when I felt that the doctor was not listening to me as a patient or taking seriously what I was physically experiencing with my illness. I know my body, and I was trying to communicate that something was not right. After speaking with a social worker and continuing to advocate for myself, the doctor finally ordered an additional test to determine whether there was another issue that could explain what I was experiencing. While I was waiting for this test and for the doctor to determine a plan that would allow me to safely go home with something to help control my headaches, I had an extremely upsetting interaction with a social worker named Maria. Her approach made me feel as though the hospital bill was more important than my health, my well-being, and what I was physically going through. The first time Maria entered my room, she did not properly introduce herself or explain what department she was from. I had to ask one of the nurses for her name. When she came back to my room a second time, she finally identified herself, but her attitude and the way she addressed me were very unprofessional. During our first interaction, she asked whether I was staying or leaving. I attempted to explain that the doctor's plan was to find something I could safely go home on that would help control my headaches and that I was still planning to leave that same day. Before I could finish explaining the plan of care, she rudely interrupted me and began discussing the possibility of me being responsible for the bill if I stayed. I explained that I had already spoken with another caseworker who had gone over the situation with me, so I understood what could happen financially. Her response to me was essentially, "If you want to pay the bill, that's fine with me." I found this response extremely insensitive and inappropriate, especially considering that I was a patient who was still sick, in pain, and waiting for additional testing. The interaction became even more upsetting when she made another comment about me paying the bill as she walked out of my room. Shortly afterward, someone came into my room and handed me paperwork regarding the bill. At that point, I was so frustrated and upset by how the entire situation had been handled that I threw the paperwork away. My concern is not simply about receiving a bill. I understand that hospitals have financial policies and procedures that must be followed. My issue is with the lack of compassion, professionalism, and respect shown when communicating those policies to a patient who is actively dealing with a medical issue. There is a time, place, and appropriate way to discuss financial responsibility without making a patient feel as though money matters more than whether they are medically stable or feeling better. It is very sad when a patient leaves a hospital feeling as though the priority was whether the bill would be paid rather than whether the treatment they received actually helped them. Patients come to hospitals because they are sick, scared, in pain, and looking for help. They deserve to be heard by their doctors and treated with dignity and compassion by every member of the hospital staff. Again, I truly appreciate the nurses who cared for me. They were wonderful. However, the lack of communication from the doctor and, especially, the dismissive and insensitive interaction I experienced with Maria significantly affected my overall hospital experience. No patient should be made to feel that their financial responsibility is more important than their physical well-being while they are still actively receiving care.

I was surprised with my visit in the best way…read more Most of the urgent care centers that my insurance covered closed at 4 or 6 and I was scrambling to find someone and they closed at 8. When I got there, only one other person was is in the lobby. Just a note it's small inside plus they have seating blocked off due to COVID (Which I'm okay with). The staff was nice at the front desk and the paper work wasn't that long. I had another person in front of me , so I had to wait a bit in the exam room. The PA ( I'm saying PA cause usually doctors say that they are a doctor when they walk in, if she's a doctor I really do apologize ) asked me what brought me here and actually listened to what I had to say. She told me what she thought was wrong and ordered some X-rays. Additionally, she added an X-ray to see if what I thought happened was going on as well. Got the X-rays done and what she said was the right thing and she took her time out to explain why. Gave me a shot and I was on my way home. Woke up this morning in barely any pain compared to the day before. Thanks to the staff there for proving me wrong and taking good care of me.

The doctor and nurse were very knowledgeable and, above all, CARING!
