    Delicious empanada

Wow. Delicious empanadas. Awesome service. Try the guava empanada. It's soooooo good.

a bite of my beef empanadas!

My favorite food truck in Jersey other than the Rutgers food truck, which has now closed down and makes me really sad. Hey, but at least I still have the Empanada Man! he accepts credit cards now too which is great because I can buy all the yummy empanadas...my favorite is beef then chicken...but my newest favorite is the chorizo empanadas, so much flavor and the juices just flows out in every Crispy bite. If you look closely, the empanadas have a nice little "EM" Initial for Empanada Man of course, stamped on top of the empanada. nice little touch. Anyways, they sell other things on the menu like yelper Bill said here. But the empanadas is what you go here for. For 3 dollars an empanadas, you can't go wrong! I recently stopped by and saw lobster empanadas as well, it's 6 dollars instead of the usual 3 dollars for the other meats but I'm sure it's just as good. have not tried them yet.

This truck is awesome! Really good food. I have been passing this truck for a long time and finally able to stop to try it out. Really nice girl working. My husband and I tried the chorizo, beef, and apple empanadas. Also shared a side of rice and beans. Everything was very good! If you haven't stopped yet please do you won't be disappointed.

    Cubano: excellent!
    Jay W.

Excellent Cubano. This is the best Cubano I've had north of Key West. The bread is a toasted, yet soft, long baguette roll. Delicious melted cheese, ham, roasted pork. The pork was almost falling apart, the sandwich was very well balanced. I could have used another pickle or two in there, but I am absolutely nit picking. I tried The Empanada Guy Truck in Philly at the Taste of 3 Cities Food Truck Festival & Competition (I don't actually know where they are usually located. There was a lot of good food there, but these guys got my vote for best food. We need one of these in Philly on a regular basis.

Picked up a quick bite to eat at the truck on Old Bridge Turnpike and was pleasantly surprised. My sister and I wanted something quick, but an alternative to McDonald's or Wendy's. We ordered 3 beef empanadas, 1 cheese empanada, and 2 churros. I underestimated the size of the empanadas, and we were both stuffed by our second one -- that didn't stop us from enjoying our churros! The beef was well seasoned, and all were fried upon ordering. It's nice to know they don't just give you stale ones, or pop them in the microwave. The cheese used in the empanada was quite good, I just wish they had a beef and cheese option...it really would've made the empanada perfection. The churros were great too. Overall I'd definitely return.

We found the Empanada Guy at Laurita Winery's Food Trucks and Fire Pits event. Last year we had the beef and chicken, which were delicious, but we were dying to try the lobster and crab empanadas. And...we were definitely expecting the lobster empanada to be insanely good, and it was good, but the crab empanadas will blow your mind! The combination of bell peppers, onion, cilantro, herbs, and chunks of lump crab are enough to redefine what you thought you knew about empanadas. The crust is flakey and the filling to crust ratio is spot on. If The Empanada Guy was located in New York, I would definitely consider ordering a case for our next party. Chicken, Pulled Pork, and Beef
    Spike R.

These empanadas are legit and they are great snacks while you're driving. The chicken ones have great seasoning to it. I would definitely recommend that one. The beef one's were a little too "mushy" for me (but I still would eat the crap out of it). I was also not fond of the ham and cheese one. It was too salty for my taste. But I will be back for more whenever I drive by the truck!

    Yum

I ordered the white chicken soup to go and that's one. I would give a three out of five just because I feel like I could've had a little more flavor to it. I definitely had places where they were a lot more flavorful. We got the flautas which were super crispy super well done, and the tamales were also like homemade. I also ordered the quesadillas, which was very good portions were big, and the meat was the marinated pork which had tons of flavor. My mom ordered the seafood soup. I personally don't eat shrimp so I didn't try it, but everyone else on the table tried it and loved it. There was ample amount of seafood in the soup. The service was great. They were on top of everything and no one to check in onto their customers. Talking about the ambience it's very traditional and it's nothing glamorous when you walk in, which makes it very authentic . I personally came here for authenticity not for a great ambience, but instead great food. Definitely recommend

If Yelp had star options for both the food and the service, I definitely would have given them 4 or 5 stars. I almost always go completely overboard when I try a place the first time. I picked up almost $80 worth of takeout so that I could try a little bit of everything. I really, really wanted to love the food here but I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't really find anything that I ordered that flavorful. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't have the delicious flavors that I normally associate with great Puerto Rican food. As I mentioned it was an unbelievably hot day so maybe the cook was having an off day because of that. If I'm ever driving by there, I'd probably give it another chance since it has such great reviews from other people.

I loved my espresso martini as it had a chocolate hint too it which I feel many places don't do anymore. My husband got the peach and mango belinni where the mango flavor was stronger than the peach which I loved because I am a mango fan. My husband wished his taco shells for the birria were a bit harder/crunchier but other than that he loved the flavor. I loved my chicken fajiatas as the chicken was still very tender. It also lasted me another 2 meals after this one. Although this place is a little on the pricier side I feel like you get your moneys worth. Plus the service is good and very fast.

The waiter said that the steak in the quesadilla was chili rubbed and the only way to have it plain was to get the up-charged $10 steak. That's absurd! My 3 year old would definitely not want a chili rubbed steak. I ordered chicken quesadillas instead. They were just ok. Nothing special. They didn't come with anything so I ordered rice and beans. I found them to be overpriced and not worth it.

There is no parking lot for this place. There is a Municipal parking lot about one block over behind the post office. We lucked out as there was street parking directly in front of the restaurant. We ordered agua de Jamaica. Huge glass for $4.95. I would guess that it's 16-20 ounces. Gigantic. Well priced. We ordered guacamole which was good too. They didn't give us any salsa for the table like they do at other Mexican joints. For our mains, we ordered their mixed fajitas with shrimp chicken and beef. It was about $21 and it was a huge dish. It's not the usually fajitas that I've had at other places. Theirs comes in a delicious sauce which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a generous portion and the flavors were on point. We recommend it. Our other dish was the El Rinconcito which came with grilled items: pork cutlets, beef, chicken, shrimps cactus, Spanish cheese rice and beans. It was an alright eight. We prefer the saucy fajita dish more. We def plan to go back. Next time, we are going to order their molcajete which is listed at $34.95 so I assume it'll be a huge dish for two based on the price. From the owners description, it Comes with all kinds of meats steak chicken shrimp pork sausage. I'm trying my best not to go back two days in a row but I may swing by for Lunch later. Good is good as is service. Good came out quick and she asked a few times whether we needed anything else. I believe they give some sort of cash discount or charge to use credit card because she asked how I was paying. They add an auto tip of 15% which I didn't mind. Gave her a few bucks more. All in all, it was a good meal. Appears to be a small mom and pop store and I'm happy to support local small business. It helps that the food is delicious too.

Started out with coconut lemonade and a blood sausage appetizer that came with 2 mini arepas. It was our first time trying blood sausage and we were happy we did! Casing had a nice char and snap to it. Filling was well seasoned and delicious. Arepitas were light, crispy and had a very good sweet corn taste to them. Coconut lemonade was slightly tart which is how I like it and also had a sweet coconut finish to it. I would definitely order it again. For the entree we shared the Parradilla Milina Marinera which came with grilled steak, chicken, pork loin, shrimp and salted fried plantains. We added rice and beans. Grill taste on everything was terrific! Meats were tender and flavorful. Rice and beans were ok. They had free dessert for Mother's Day so my wife ordered chocolate cake which was delicious. The chicken empanada was also good. However, the CANASTICAS (3) DE TOSTONES RELLENOS appetizer was disappointing. It was $10 for three tiny cups, which was not what we expected. It wasn't worth the price, and we could barely taste any plantain. I accepted the conclusion. We also ordered a side of FRIED PLANTIANS (tostones). We received only three pieces, and they were extremely thin--so thin they could bend like taco shells. They were not the traditional thick, crispy tostones we expected. My husband's BANDEJA PAISA was also disappointing. The chicharrón was thin, hard, and difficult to chew. The steak was thin but good. The beans- good. Sausage-ok. A lot of rice on the plate. Then the receipt came with an automatic 18% gratuity. We don't recall seeing this noted on the menu, although it may have been listed somewhere. We were only a party of two, so we were surprised to see an automatic gratuity added. Be sure to check your bill carefully so you don't accidentally leave an extra tip. Overall, the food and value did not meet our expectations. It's simply not for us, though it may match other people's expectations, and that's okay.
