If Yelp had star options for both the food and the service, I definitely would have given them 4 or 5 stars. I almost always go completely overboard when I try a place the first time. I picked up almost $80 worth of takeout so that I could try a little bit of everything. I really, really wanted to love the food here but I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't really find anything that I ordered that flavorful. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't have the delicious flavors that I normally associate with great Puerto Rican food. As I mentioned it was an unbelievably hot day so maybe the cook was having an off day because of that. If I'm ever driving by there, I'd probably give it another chance since it has such great reviews from other people.

As someone who loves pernil, I have to say that Puerto Ricans make some of the best pernil. It's always well-seasoned, flavorful, and tastes clean rather than overly greasy. The pernil here did not disappoint. The rice and gandules were also very good. While it doesn't quite compare to my husband's aunt's homemade version, it was still packed with flavor and complemented the meal perfectly. There was a smell of BBQ and curry in the air. I walked down the end of the parking lot and discovered Jamrock. I was not thinking about Jamaican food for dinner, but after smelling the food, I had to try some. I got the curry chicken, white rice, cabbage and corn on the cob. Wow the curry and cabbage were delicious. We also had a beef patty which was also good. I will definitely go back to try some more of their food and you should to.
