I decided after a few times that I am not a huge fan of improv comedy shows. I went to the murder mystery show and it was just okay. I laughed a little bit,but it didn't change my mind on improv comedy as a whole. I'm not planning on going back anytime soon for that reason. Please make up your own mind and give them a chance. The acting is always spot on and the plays, which are written by local playwrights, run the gamut from comedy to drama. I love that the admission prices are low and they even have a performance where you can pay whatever you can afford. There is no excuse for not checking them out. My only issue is that I wish they would have more matinees. They generally only have one for each show and I can't always make that date. Wonderful talented group of people! Love them!

We had a quick bag check at the entrance and onto the ticket attendants who were friendly. We sat in Balcony aisle seats in Row KK. I've sat in this area before. My aisle seat was a little obstructed for the stage view by the railing that had a solid design so I had to lean forward most of the time. The other seats next to me on the railing have a design but you can see thru. No one is sitting in front of you but a lot of people will be walking or standing as it's a thoroughfare. Sound system was great & not too loud even in the back but it's probably because this band mainly played ballads. Beautiful venue with colorful up lighting on the ceiling. The theater still has a nostalgic feel to it & very pretty. Bathrooms were clean and I'd say the only thing I think they need an upgrade on are the seats as they're cushiony and sagging a little. Leather upgrades would be better at some point. Cocktails & drinks are pretty pricey. I think a cocktail was about $21/$23. People were singing along and it was a good & enthusiastic crowd. Concert was 1.5 hours long & the main singer had to take a voice-break for about 10 minutes. A violin performer was outside of the venue playing Air Supply hits and people were singing along which was fun. To note, attendants said you could videotape & take photos but without a flash or they'll flag you. Also, the attendants aren't allowed to take your photos so you'll have to ask another attendee. Parking in the Houston Street Parking Garage is a half block down, just a $10 flat rate for the evening and very conveniently located to The Majestic.

The show incorporates songs from artists like Katy Perry and the Backstreet Boys making the performance fun and upbeat with great humor. The Majestic is always well staffed and the staff is very helpful and involved in accommodating the patrons. I've never had a bad seat and concessions and restrooms are easily accessible. Helpful hint, I always take a sweater because they keep it cool in there.

No frills, byob with some candy bars and chips for purchase, but the performers are always a good time. There are other improv shows and regular stand up, you just need to peep their calendars and I believe most shows are like $10-15 bucks. Just always a good hour or so cackling at/with nerds lol.

That's how I floated into this magical spot on their second weekend. I was unsure about the location in an old nightclub in a forgotten strip off Fredericksburg, but game for some Sweet Transvestite action. It's a small space; I believe "intimate" would be the proper euphemism. From the start of the show, I knew it would be entertaining, but I was pleasantly surprised HOW entertained I was. The production was spirited and clever and campy in all the right ways. The show was well cast, with the actors all pouring their hearts out, clearly having fun in the process. Being an 'intimate' theatre, the actors were available after, posing for pictures and chatting. That's when I learned a bit of background: the Roxie comes to us via a veteran of San Antonio theatre. What Mixtli is to the San Antonio food scene, the Roxie is to the Performing Arts: it's founded on the passion of a musical theatre geek, with a commitment to quality (if deliciously less "high minded"). Lucky for us, there are more seats than a "showing" at Mixtli. I can't wait to see what they'll dream up if they can pack the place with enthusiastic audiences. You don't have to speak a foreign language, or be knowledgeable about an opera's history or composer, to feel a connection to the music, and the raw emotion and passion of the performers. It's a unique experience that is difficult to put into words. Additionally, for those who do want to understand more about the performance, the entire thing is subtitled! A screen hangs above the stage, projecting the English translation. I attended a concert version of Il Trovatore here (put on by the magnificent San Antonio Symphony and cosponsored by Opera San Antonio) and it was truly breathtaking. Performances are limited, so I recommend planning ahead. I'm already looking forward to attending Opera San Antonio production of The Barber of Seville next season (2016-2017). As I mentioned, I'm a fan of planning ahead, but that being said; they often offer great promotions and specials for last-minute tickets! There are MANY wonderful productions year round at The Tobin Center (Ballet San Antonio, Opera San Antonio, and San Antonio Symphony) so be sure to check their calendar! Cheeky humor, singing, and tap dancing which is not often seen these days anymore. Show was 2 1/2 hour with a 15 minute intermission. Restrooms were available and a bar. Pre show, the stage was set for public bar access, and then later the set up was incorporated into the stage when the show started. Cute idea! I would totally come back! I recently took in a performance over the weekend for a play titled "the Irish Curse" and like performances I've attended in the past - I left the theater feeling incredibly rewarded. One of the best parts about this theater is the performance space. The stage is dead center in a small room, with 50 or so chairs allowing the front row to literally allow audience members to have their feet at the edge of the performance space. Highly recommend that you make it a priority to see their next production.

The Children's Ballet of San Antonio did a good job with the Nutcracker. The dancing was good…read more However, I did get a bit lost with the storyline this year. It was a bit challenging to follow. The first half was confusing. Again we enjoyed the theatre experience and commend those that put on this production every year. Respecting the photo policy, we refrained from taking videos or photos. The play itself was definitely geared towards family and children. Yet was fun to watch nonetheless. They opened the doors an hour earlier for the Christmas shop and Santa photo ops before the show.
