When I circled back after the holidays I was told I had no more sessions, they had expired on 12/1/21. This was never disclosed to me and her webpage has changed so I have no way of going back to see if the package is only good for 3 months. I was quite sad to hear that she was not taking any new clients and I could go to another fitness coach. I've spent years in the "trenches" of high-intensity functional training, and I have a very high bar for what makes a fitness program effective. I know what makes a great fitness experience, and I have to say: Orangetheory Fitness in Bend has blown me away. I've been nothing short of impressed since joining, and it's quickly become my go-to spot (even despite also owning a Tonal, Peloton Bike and Peloton Tread at home!). Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting out, this studio delivers a top-tier experience. The PROGRAMMING is smart, science-backed, and incredibly effective - a perfect blend of cardio and strength that keeps things fresh and challenging every single class. It's definitely more cardio-focused than CrossFit, but also with a MUCH lower risk of injury! Also, the fact that I can get my workout in at 6:00 a.m. is great - and having the flexibility to attend a class even earlier than that, or during one of the many classes later in the day is a real bonus, too. But what really stands out is the COACHING. The coaches here are outstanding: energetic, knowledgeable, and somehow able to manage three rotating groups ("3G") seamlessly while motivating everyone, cracking jokes to keep it fun, and jumping in with spot-on form corrections. It's masterful - I've rarely seen that level of attention in a group setting, and can't tell you how hard it is to manage all that effectively. But they most certainly do just that. Special shout out to Coach Stephanie and Coach Sebastian - two of my favorites!!! The STUDIO itself is equally impressive. The EQUIPMENT is in fantastic condition (treadmills, rowers, weights, and even stationary bikes and a stair stepper for those who may be dealing with injury or disability - everything feels new and well-maintained), and the entire place is impeccably clean, from the workout floor to the spotless showers, lockers, and bathrooms. I particularly appreciate that sanitary wipes are set out at each station prior to class, folks are reminded to wipe their equipment down after use, and the room is cleaned by staff between classes in the event someone missed something. The TECHNOLOGY is another major standout: real-time heart rate feedback on the screens keeps you in the zone, and the app tracks your metrics over time so you can see real progress. That layer of accountability and motivation is hard to beat, and unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. Additionally, booking classes is a breeze through the app, and I've even dropped into other Orangetheory studios across Oregon - they're all consistently impressive. On top of all that, the COMMUNITY is incredibly welcoming. Both the coaches and members are friendly and supportive, making it easy to feel like part of the group right away. If you're looking to get leaner, build serious cardio endurance, boost overall fitness, and actually enjoy your workouts, this is hands-down the best choice in Bend. Got there and explained (I was 12 minutes late) and was denied entry. Was told it was for safety reasons which is absurd. Cancelled my membership and was told I had to give 30 days and would be charged another month. I agreed and then was charged an additional month beyond. Went in to talk to them and got all kinds of excuses as to details on when the payment fell in the month so they could charge another 30 days (that is 60+ days of gouging). So petty and definitely a petty money grab to get another $80 out if me.

Jess' class has transformed my idea of fitness from a kind of necessary drudgery into something I'm…read morepassionate about. I find myself wanting to move, and enjoying day to day opportunities to walk, to balance, to stretch. I found that taking a class of hers once a week was so great that I wanted more. And, whatever else is happening in my life, I attend her classes. This is the first fitness program that I don't make myself go to. I want to go, and wake up excited for the next thing I'll learn. She has always personalized things to my level, and always struck just the right balance in encouraging me to stretch a bit beyond my current comfort zone while honoring my body's current limitations. Even if if I start out limited in my ability to do a particular exercise, she always makes it clear that these limitations will fade as I continue to train. And she's always right. She expresses faith in my continued ability to improve, which makes me strive harder. Something about her groups: These are the most encouraging workout groups I've ever been a part of. Most classes at most fitness centers, I wouldn't attend, because most "fitness moves" don't flow intuitively for me. They take effort, and I tend to need patient coaching with repetition until I "get it". Jess' groups give me the guidance and support I need. I risk more, I laugh a lot, I sweat more than I'd expect -- and the people in the group are always encouraging -- even if something takes me three times as long to complete as it does anyone else. Some of this is due to the wonderful people in her groups, and some of it is due to the fun, noncompetitive, and even playful environment that Jess fosters. It's this environment and this coaching that have allowed me to improve and to increase my movement capabilities so rapidly. It's safe to not get it right the first time; it's safe to say, "I don't understand; can you help me?" And it's a part of the fun to keep trying until I get there. I've never giggled so much in a workout, or improved so quickly! You know how little kids are always finding ways to move, how they don't easily "sit still" or just walk as a means to an end? Rather than seeing them simply walk you'll see them twirl, climb, dance, jump. Since working with Jess, I feel like one of those kids -- looking for new ways to move, to balance, to climb, and enjoying finding and learning new ways to move. I'm very impressed with Jess - her ability to affirm and train people, from beginners to experienced athletes, is something I haven't seen before. I feel like I have an ally in my movement and my movement goals now -- an ally in both Jess herself and the great groups she leads.
