Highly Recommend - A Real Game-Changer for This Former CrossFit Gym Owner! As someone who owned and operated a CrossFit gym for years, I've seen (and programmed) a lot of workouts. I've spent years in the "trenches" of high-intensity functional training, and I have a very high bar for what makes a fitness program effective. I know what makes a great fitness experience, and I have to say: Orangetheory Fitness in Bend has blown me away. I've been nothing short of impressed since joining, and it's quickly become my go-to spot (even despite also owning a Tonal, Peloton Bike and Peloton Tread at home!). Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting out, this studio delivers a top-tier experience. The PROGRAMMING is smart, science-backed, and incredibly effective - a perfect blend of cardio and strength that keeps things fresh and challenging every single class. It's definitely more cardio-focused than CrossFit, but also with a MUCH lower risk of injury! Also, the fact that I can get my workout in at 6:00 a.m. is great - and having the flexibility to attend a class even earlier than that, or during one of the many classes later in the day is a real bonus, too. But what really stands out is the COACHING. The coaches here are outstanding: energetic, knowledgeable, and somehow able to manage three rotating groups ("3G") seamlessly while motivating everyone, cracking jokes to keep it fun, and jumping in with spot-on form corrections. It's masterful - I've rarely seen that level of attention in a group setting, and can't tell you how hard it is to manage all that effectively. But they most certainly do just that. Special shout out to Coach Stephanie and Coach Sebastian - two of my favorites!!! The STUDIO itself is equally impressive. The EQUIPMENT is in fantastic condition (treadmills, rowers, weights, and even stationary bikes and a stair stepper for those who may be dealing with injury or disability - everything feels new and well-maintained), and the entire place is impeccably clean, from the workout floor to the spotless showers, lockers, and bathrooms. I particularly appreciate that sanitary wipes are set out at each station prior to class, folks are reminded to wipe their equipment down after use, and the room is cleaned by staff between classes in the event someone missed something. The TECHNOLOGY is another major standout: real-time heart rate feedback on the screens keeps you in the zone, and the app tracks your metrics over time so you can see real progress. That layer of accountability and motivation is hard to beat, and unlike anything I've seen elsewhere. Additionally, booking classes is a breeze through the app, and I've even dropped into other Orangetheory studios across Oregon - they're all consistently impressive. On top of all that, the COMMUNITY is incredibly welcoming. Both the coaches and members are friendly and supportive, making it easy to feel like part of the group right away. If you're looking to get leaner, build serious cardio endurance, boost overall fitness, and actually enjoy your workouts, this is hands-down the best choice in Bend. I was running a little late and called well before class to let then know Im on my way. Got stuck behind a cement mixer and had to follow it the entire way. Got there and explained (I was 12 minutes late) and was denied entry. Was told it was for safety reasons which is absurd. Cancelled my membership and was told I had to give 30 days and would be charged another month. I agreed and then was charged an additional month beyond. Went in to talk to them and got all kinds of excuses as to details on when the payment fell in the month so they could charge another 30 days (that is 60+ days of gouging). So petty and definitely a petty money grab to get another $80 out if me. read more

They only want your money. OTF is like all the gyms you read about. Engaging and encouraging until you sign the contract and then it is only about your membership fee. I joined the Bend studio two years ago and was two months into my membership when my mother suffered a severe stroke. I took over as her full time caregiver and also for my father who was battling cancer. I went into the studio in person to explain my situation and let them know I would not be able to attend for the foreseeable future. I signed something that I thought ended my membership but it was apparently a temporary pause on the membership not a cancellation. Over the course of the next two years I cared for both parents who passed away. In that time I never heard a word from OTF. Not to say, "hey your temporary hold is up--what would you like to do?" Or even a "we haven't seen you in a while." But they sure did keep billing me monthly and when I reached out repeatedly to ask for reconciliation I was told there was nothing I could do. (But they did offer to give me some classes for the $2k worth of unknown and unused membership they charged me for.) The absolute worst experience I have ever had. read more

If you're still COVID wary, maybe check twice before coming! I was excited to try the studio on vacation (as an avid OTF member at home), but was surprised to see that the full not-distanced class did not require members to wear masks! I was between two men who were breathing really hard while running on the treadmill (mask-less) so I finished the block and left. When I asked at the counter, she said that masks were optional behind the glass doors for most classes, and if masks are required in the class then it'll specify on the app. I was under the impression with the new variant that masks would be required EVERYWHERE in the State of Oregon, but I was wrong. At least I got my 12 splats, but I can't say if it was from the running or my COVID-anxiety. read more

Great workout and coaches! Getting back into a workout routine post-covid has been difficult, to say the least. The coaches really make this OTF studio a place for all fitness levels. Most classes follow the same mix of exercises tred, row, and lift and the coaches offer modifications for varying fitness levels. There is a big focus on asking about injuries each class and making time to warm up. I've been going about a year and have taken classes at a variety of times, so would say that if you want more intensity go in the a.m. and the afternoons tend to be a bit more mellow. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first but go a few times and you will find the groove. Classes do fill up, so book early. read more

So I went on vacation to Sunriver for 12 day vacation and decided to go to Orange Theory in Bend (I'm a member in Orange County). I will say I really like the layout and big it is in the inside. I also appreciate the amount of weight choices they offer (not the basic ones with just the ones in front of you or the heavy weight rack). The coaches overall are very down to earth people and really took the time to either coach you on a station or check on form. The lockers are great and the showers are amazing ! The only minor thing I would say could be better is giving us like 1-2 mins early to let us warm up more (I felt my warm up was sometimes rushed and didn't get as much time on the tread as I would like). Also in the mornings, I would let the staff know if you need to shower as it's freezing if they don't adjust the thermo. Shout out to Coach Taylor and Coach Sarah T for making my experience there enjoyable and making time to get to know me! Overall, I would recommend this location for membership or visiting. read more

I suggest that you look on the Orangetheory Fitness site for what the workout theory and process is - it's interesting, challenging, and fun by the way. I would like to comment on the culture of this specific studio, because it's unlike any of the many other OTF studios if visited,and it's incredible. The staff and coaches have created a fitness "family" environment. Family is an overused term, but absolutely fits for here. All the coaches are caring, encouraging, knowledgeable, and open. They are all unique in special ways, but also consistent in how they coach so there are no issues working out with the different coaches And the staff is the BEST, starting with the Studio Manager Shelby, and all wonderful people who welcome you, appreciate you, and make you feel good about yourself. I suffer from chronic pain, constant medical challenges, and depression, and this OTF family has changed my life for the better. read more

This is my second visit in the past couple years. I usually attend as many classes as I can while I'm in town. I did six classes on this visit. The most positive feedback that sticks out is that. It's probably the first studio I've gone to where the coaches all seem very consistent in their queuing, and the energy they bring to class. As well as look the part of a fitness coach. This makes for a comfortable choice in going to any of their scheduled offerings. The studio is pretty small both in the workout room/lobby, which is concerning during Covid. Being their mask mandate from my observation ...not here or there. Most members wearing them, but quite a few not. A lot of the SAs haphazardly wearing them. A lot of SAs working period. Sometimes 3, and very little hospitality. They also have pretty much only 3Gs, which I get it trying to maximize getting members in. Though a true Orangetheory 60 is a nice way to change up equal parts resistance to cardio. They have a masked required 3G, which makes no sense with everybody huffing and puffing. On top of/ side to side of. Especially through these shields that are all open in ventilation. Did I mention the workout studio is small. I will give it that they rotate the workout floor into the lobby during transition, but I think that's due to design. Lastly, a lot of the rowers/treadmills need to be recalibrated and maintenance. I would've done this in a private survey that was sent to me. I wanted to do that after all my classes were attended, but it was expired by the time I got to it. read more

Got a workout in while in town visiting. The staff here is great! Stephanie has a crazy good playlist and I might suggest my regular location to borrow it :) The layout here is a bit different than I'm used to, but I feel like making transitions to stations went a lot more smoothly here. I joined the studio in Jan 2022, did the transformation challenge (lost 10 lbs and finally felt good/motivated to put myself first), and was HOOKED! The workouts make me feel my best and set me up for the day. But for me, a workout will only take me so far. Got to say it's been a great experience the last few months. The staff are always so friendly, the workouts are killer in a good way, and I feel like I'm actually getting in some great exercise before a desk job each day. I did Orangetheory for 3 months when I was getting ready for my wedding and I gotta say I loved it! I felt amazing and really enjoyed all the classes. They pushed me, made me feel stronger and super fit. The times are convenient for working around most work schedules. I'm going to admit that I was hesitant to try OTF. First off, it's a chain and I hate chains. Second off it's kind of kitschy with it's orange lights and all. I reluctantly went to my first class and walked out the door and signed up. Dropped $100 on a heart rate monitor and didn't look back. I changed my membership from the 8 times a week to full time. Seriously people, this is an amazing workout. One of the things I love about it is that it has amazing programing. Those people in Florida really know what they are doing. Every workout is varied, hard and FUN! I seriously don't look at the clock while working out. I will admit, I was at a cute local gym before and one issue I had were the inexperienced 20 year olds who were making up what we would do on their way to teach the class. I also LOVE the instructors, they are so caring and amazing! They really watch your form and get to know you as a person. Taylor, the manager is excellent and will get back to you right away with any issues. If you are hesitant, like I was, hesitate no more and get your booty in OTF, you won't regret it! read more

One star for good work outs. Minus 4 stars for business practices. While the workouts are definitely challenging (in a good way), the cost for what you get is not a good value. High monthly fees, fine. I've done that, but with gyms that actually had amenities. OTF has zero amenities. If you need to shower there to continue your day good luck- you'll have to leave class early to get the single shower. You book your classes for the month after your billing cycle starts. If something comes up- work, sick, whatever, and you can't cancel with more than 8 hours notice (kind of difficult if you have an early morning class), then you get charged again for that class. So you have the monthly fee of about $170, then you get dinged another $14 for missing the class. They have waitlists, so they lose nothing by you missing the class, they are effectively triple dipping. Because of the waitlists, it can be difficult to get in to classes if you have a schedule that varies. I developed tendonitis from rowing and needed to rest my elbow (I don't play tennis, OTF rowing is the only repetitive motion my left elbow gets). I have text messages confirming I wanted to put my membership on hold. Next billing cycle I was charged in full, hold not in place. Fine, I didn't complain, I just asked them again to put it on hold for the next month (which they did). After one month I was charged again and tried returning to classes. My elbow just can't take it. The only part of the workout I can effectively participate in is the treadmill. Pretty steep price for 12 minutes. I can ride my bike without paying OTF, I see no reason to sit on the stationary bike there. I called to cancel (prior to the next billing cycle) and was told I'd have to pay for another 30 days. They are blood suckers. You pay a high monthly fee. You buy their proprietary heart rate monitor. You pay again if you miss a class. And you continue to pay after you can no longer attend classes due to an injury caused by their classes. Bad business. read more

This is about Orangetheory's rabid collection methods, even when their paperwork is wrong and they have bilked their customer for more $$ than the customer ever received in services, they still harass you over and over and over. Initially enthused to attend, I purchased the unlimited classes. I can't recall why they charged me $268 after the first class, but there I was, almost $300 into it from the beginning. They also had me purchase a heart rate monitor for (I believe) $99. After having membership for about a month and going to about 3-4 classes, my surgery date got moved up to early Sept. and I was convinced to suspend, not cancel my dues (which was another $15 fee). Despite having surgery in early Sept, somehow I was charged another $169 in late Sept, which puts me in at $437 for 3-4 classes. The last class I had was in mid-August. That's $109/class on the generous side. I never went back. When it was clear that I would need more healing time, I called and cancelled membership back in November '18. Well, fast forward to March '19 and the manager Taylor has been harassing me. He calls me over and over, emailing me over and over and threatening to send me to collections. He says I never cancelled and that I *at the very least* owe them one more month of dues. I let him know I was cancelled and do not owe OrangeTheory anything; that the last classes I attended was back in August '18. Again, I haven't attended a class since Aug '18, here we are nearly 9 months later in April '19, and they are trying to shake me down for another month's worth of dues. Still, Taylor calls and emails almost daily. He also will not resolve the issue over email and insists on a phone call; a conversation that will not document anything he says to me (which is why he will not resolve it on email). I on the other hand, am insisting on documented email resolution and also, he is wasting my time. I have told him repeatedly that I cancelled, I consider myself settled up with OrangeTheory and that it is bad form to hassle a customer who has OVERPAID and not received much value from the nearly $500 spent on the studio in 2 months time. The resolution is to STOP HARASSING ME. Yet, they continue to act like there is something to discuss. This is customer abuse and unfortunately, after several attempts to make Taylor stop harassing me, I am writing this review. They feel entitled to harass customers and think this will lead to good feelings about their business. I have spent $500 on this studio and haven't even demanded reimbursement and they still feel entitled to do this when the paperwork mishandling/staff errors are their fault, they have received more $$ than output in services and they are obviously upsetting me; they DON'T CARE. I would think a manager would have more things to do than hassle a former customer who hasn't been to their studio in 9 months, but apparently he doesn't. read more

This is circuit training and very easy once you understand the machines. It is a hi impact cardio workout and I Hate it going in, but LOVE how I feel when I am done. I do wish that I felt like the instructors actually knew who I was when they call out inspirational bon mots, and I wish they would occasionally give technical corrections to improve my form. It feels really impersonal and a bit robotic, but it is a helluva workout and it is really improving my cardio and all over body tone. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about the way this studio is run - the workout classes are fast-paced and challenging and the staff is helpful and friendly. As the word has gotten out the classes have filled up and it's been harder to get off the waitlist and get into classes. When I ran into Taylor Dyer, the Studio Manager, outside of the studio and I shared my frustration about the waiting list with him, he helped me get off the waiting list and shared some tips on booking classes further out and also that there's a pretty good chance I would get into a class by showing up and seeing if there are any no shows (even if I'm on the waiting list.) That really showed me that he cares about his job and the people they serve. Great job Taylor and thanks! read more

I absolutely love Orange Theory. I've had so much fun in their classes and i love the competitive spirit there. The coaches really know how to push you in the right way. I love the themed days and teamwork throughout. My only complaint is that I've had a couple bad experiences with a specific coach. She is confrontational and pushy. Not in a professional way. I have chosen to completely avoid her scheduled classes because of this. Hopefully she can learn to lighten up. read more

I am so excited that Bend now has OTF! We recently moved to Bend, and I was taking OTF classes before we moved and was so bummed that Bend didn't have one. It is the best workout - especially if you are like me, and when you go to a regular gym you don't really know what you should be doing. :) With OTF I just have to show up and the coaches put me to work! This was my first time and the studio and coach stephanie made sure it would be my last. I was walking on the treadmill when my shoe came untied so I stepped on the sides to tie it. Because I stepped off the side of the treadmill and left it running to tie my shoe she made the whole class stop what they were doing and do burpees and instructed me to watch. Her words were, "everyone stop what you're doing and do five burpees because treadmill 8 didn't follow directions and she can watch." That's not a very inclusive coaching style. Had she come up and asked me to turn off my treadmill I totally would have. I don't know if stephanie was having a bad day or I rubbed her the wrong. This has been my favorite way (and my husbands) to exercise, hands down. We both have tried a bit of everything to stay in shape: yoga, cross fit, boot camp, rock climbing, etc...while we liked doing it all, nothing stuck. We have both absolutely loved orange theory-the people, the workouts, the music, and being able to track our progress. We have both seen gains from going, too. It was my first visit to OT Bend on December 8th. I decided to come here on my birthday to start the day off right after getting the invite from their manager Taylor. Immediately when I walked in I was greeted with smiles and Taylor jumped in right away to get me all set up at this location. My class coach was Emily, and she was awesome! Pushed me hard enough to get a good workout, and also was super friendly. The entire class even sang happy birthday to me at the end, it made my day extra special! I am originally from Orange County and have been to a couple OT locations. This by far has been the friendliness and the staff was very knowledgable. Each person truly cares about what they do and you can tell they have a passion for the fitness industry and making sure each client is treated top notch and meets their goals. I was so impressed I have decided to come here and workout every time I visit Bend, which is almost 7 times a year. Taylor has done an incredible job putting together a positive team environment and seeing that each client is treated by first name and is taken care of. Go check them out if you haven't been, no matter what your fitness level is, you will get the best workout in just 1 hour and you immediately will feel like family when you walk in the door!
