I used to share a personal trainer with a friend but when the trainer moved out of the area I basically quit working out. When I decided to look for a personal trainer of my own the cost was prohibitive. lifeSport Fitness's model makes working out with a semi-personal trainer attainable. Their model and benefits are this: - 4 clients per trainer per session - You have your own individualized plan. You're not doing what the other 3 people in your session are. The plan is designed specifically for you. You work with that plan for 8 sessions with weight increasing along the way so you can see your improvement. After the 8 sessions you move to a new custom-designed program - You can request areas you want to work on, or avoid if injured - Each session ends with high intensity interval training for aerobic fitness - Sessions are designed for your fitness level, whatever that may be - Sessions can be scheduled, changed, or cancelled online. In addition, Becky, the owner, and the trainers, are some of the most genuinely caring people around. Becky followed up after I had surgery and when I injured myself (they'll put your membership on hold if need be) just to see how I was. I can't recommend their services enough.

This means that this review is about three and a half years late. I first joined Spenga from a gym that did a lot of HIT workouts. The workouts were decent, but there was never time given to cool down and stretching. I heard about the new Spenga opening up in LG and was immediately interested due to the yoga. Spenga is a whole body work out-- spin/strength/yoga (20 minutes of each in an hour long session). If you have never done the Spenga work out-- it is HARD. Every single time. Because as you get stronger and stronger, your "sweet spot" (power output on the bike) gets higher and you are encouraged to lift heavier weights and do stronger yoga poses. The combination of spin/strength/yoga goes by quickly, especially as there's so much you have to pay attention to. But the reason I have stayed so long at Spenga is the instructors and the community. Some instructors (Marina) have been there from the start. She recently celebrated her 2000 session. Chloie-- also an OG-- celebrated her 1500 session. Having the same instructors mean they get to know you personally (which is a double-edge sword-- they will push you to work harder!!) One of the co-owners, Dan, is a regular-- he is often at the front desk or taking a class with us. The instructors and the front desk team make you feel welcomed. You are greeted by name (unlike other studios I've attended where they work hard to ignore you), and the instructors even ask you to introduce yourself to your neighbor in the work out. As I take classes at the same time every day, I get to know the other people in the class. We cheer each other on, especially during the tough workouts. There are lots of celebration moments-- check out Spengalg's instagram accounts to see pics of the clients hitting major milestones, working on their birthday, etc. Spenga attracts all kinds of people. It's a workout that has something for everyone. Whether you are looking to get back in shape, get into a shape you have never been, or wanting variety from your current routine, I'd recommend giving Spenga a visit!

I had really…read morehigh hopes, thinking a 60-minute class combining spinning, strength, and yoga was a great concept and a well-diversified combination. After taking the initial trial class, I decided to buy a 10-class package to really try it out. Unfortunately, after taking a few more classes, I found myself really disliking it. The studio itself is really nice, and the staff is very kind. The spinning and yoga portions are pretty standard and totally fine. What I really dislike is the strength portion (the resistance and weight training part). It is held in an open setting with a maximum of 26 spots. The instructor gives a set of exercises and then lets members work at their own pace with their own selected weights. I found it not only very messy and unorganized, but also lacking in discipline and correction. Proper posture and choosing the right weights are extremely important in weight training. With 26 students doing their own thing, everybody is trying, but many have incorrect posture. This makes it ineffective and prone to injuries. Almost no corrections were given by the instructor. There are a couple of small TVs on the wall showing demonstrations of the assigned exercises, but they are quite small, and sometimes what is shown on screen differs from what the instructor demoed. There is another 60-minute class called Reps, which is pretty much pure strength and weight training. I took that class twice and had the exact same experience: it was messy, unorganized, and lacked discipline and form correction. One of the rap classes I took had 2 stripper-type ladies wore high heels dancing in the class. I think it was meant to boost everyone's morale... maybe ? but it totally weirded me out. Seeing 2 of them wearing tights and skimpy clothes, shaking their butt and booty, just looked weird and inappropriate to me. It totally weirded me out. If someone is already highly experienced in weight training and knows what they are doing, maybe this class works for them. But for the general public, based on what I saw, about 80% of the people have form problems. In some ways, this kind of setting defeats the purpose and can do more harm than good.I really want to use up the classes I bought. But every time I think about going, I feel resistant. Right now, these leftover classes are just going to be a waste of money for me.

Not only has Chris completely worked with me and gotten rid of the back pain, I am continuing to see him because I can tell that the work he is doing with me is completely transforming my body alignment and overall posture, strength, endurance and overall body function. He knows the body so well and has expertise to know and understand what people's needs and ability and capability are to push you to the next level. My mind is starting to FINALLY connect with my body and I am applying the principles I have learned from Chris into my 'every day life' and am so much more aware of how I carry my body and how the strength in my core is key to carrying my body in the right way in my every day activities. People may be hesitant to 'spend so much money' on something like private or semi-private pilates classes; but I can tell you I would SO much rather be giving my hard earned money to Sonia and Chris' studio and invest in my personal physical and mental well being than to a medical carrier or medical facility or medical claims! Please give them a try. Invest in yourself. Sonia and Chris will take great care of you and can improve your quality of life in ways I don't think every they realize they do for everyone they work with daily!

Even walking could be uncomfortable at times. I'd heard Pilates could rebuild strength from the inside out, so I gave it a try -- and that's how I found Janel. I had a specific vertebral condition called spondylolisthesis. Janel and I worked (and I mean worked) through a series of exercises on her reformer for a couple of months. In addition, she gave me a set of exercises to do at home. Here I am at the end of 2025 with still no back pain and able to drive with no problem.
