I scheduled an appointment since I got vision insurance for the first time, and because I was having trouble seeing while driving in the dark. I felt like my eyes were being strained from constantly being in front of a computer screen. The appointment was very thorough and the doctor and other staff were friendly. I expressed my concerns for having air blown in my eye balls, and getting my pupils dilated. The doctor informed me that he didn't need to do the puff of air in my eyes because he had another way of testing the pressure. I was relieved. Once he put the eye drops in my eyes, he said I had about 15 minutes before things would start to get blurry. The woman at the front helped me look at frames and decide which ones I liked best. I tried on a bunch and decided between my top 3 favorites. I thought they had a good selection of designer frames. At this point my eyes got super blurry from the dilation drops when it was time to pay. I was so embarrassed because I couldn't see anything when I tried to hand the woman my health savings card. We then realized I never activated it. I felt so bad, but I had to ask her to read the numbers off of it for me to call to activate it. She helped ring me up and explained everything as I tried on glasses so there were no surprise charges. I was there for an hour and 15 minutes total, which was much longer than I expected. I had no idea what all an eye appointment entailed. It was very comfortable and clean. The doctor was patient and answered all of my questions. I chose this place based on Yelp reviews and distance to where I live. I can't wait to go pick my first pair of glasses in a few weeks!

I will say that making an appointment is super easy and they even have a telephone prompted call to remind you the day before. That is great service. The staff is also friendly and really helpful. The appointments go by quickly and there has never been a wait time. I like the idea that when I have an appointment it is kept, and kept at the time that I made it. The frames are interesting and always hip. The prices are ok. I will say that on the whole they are a bit more expensive than I would normally like to pay. But I will pay that much for some prescription sunglasses because I drive around so much. Another thing that I like about this Vision Care is that they will give me my prescription and pupilary distance without making a huge stink about it. I pay for my appointment and for my sunglasses so if I want to get glasses cheaper online they allow that. Some other places do not and that is what makes me continue to use Vision Care above anything else. Anyone in the neighborhood should get their eye care here. It is great. The service and staff are top notch. You cannot ask for much more.

Lastly, I have eye insurance that doesn't cover much and the optometrist wrote for an expensive medication instead of telling me there is a much cheaper identical equivalent of the benign medication that I should have been prescribed instead to begin with. I had to research myself to find out that the medications have the same mechanism of action but one costs much less. More importantly they should tell their patients about medication options instead of living in fear. Despite me taking the medication for years without doctor or insurance issue, the optometrist was too scared she'd get in trouble if she wrote for the less expensive medication. So I unfortunately ended up finding out this optometrist is against continuity of care out of fear that prescribing the less expensive med (which treats the exact same thing) wouldn't be covered as medically necessary and get her in trouble. Lesson learned, seen an ophthalmologist. People are terrified to prescribe the most innocuous medications these days. It's infuriating to have to hunt for confident prescribers. This is unfortunately not uncommon to find prescribers too scared to do their jobs, but it's completely unfounded and puts more work and cost on the patient.

At my appointment a couple weeks ago, I brought my sunglasses in to see if they had a replacement…read morenose pad. I asked the woman who helping me purchase contacts if they had replacement nose pads, she said yes & said that she can put the new nose pad in. She took my sunglasses into the other room & while replacing the nose pad, slipped with the tool she was using, broke off part of the prong that holds the nose pad in & bent the wire part that connects the sunglasses to the nose pad holder. Since then, I've been back 2 times to have the wire part adjusted & told nothing can be done for the broken prong. Since the nose pad isn't held in securely, I asked if the sunglasses can be replaced. I was told no because they were not purchased there & the brand isn't in network. I said they weren't broken before that incident & she told me that they shouldn't have worked on them since they weren't purchased there. I get that but it's not my fault that the woman offered to change it out & broke them. Of course these are my prescription sunglasses, too. The doctors here are good but I am very unhappy with how this situation was handled. I don't think it's fair to punish the customer for the employee's mistake.

She talked me through some things that could help with wearing my contacts too long, etc. Also, while the glasses I chose were super expensive, I also really love them. It was a frame I had found nowhere else! As for the front office staff, definitely very friendly but very disorganized. When I was first contacted by Krista she had to get my husband's social and I gave that over the phone. Then she asked me again when it came appointment time; turns out she did not write it in the system. Thankfully I had it in a note on my phone. Not something you keep on hand! Secondly, I was charged for glasses before even being fitted for them. Lastly, it had been 2.5 weeks since I had my appointment and did not get a call that my glasses were ready. Sure enough I called the office and they had them....just didn't notify me. Returning here is up in the air for me. While I had a good experience with the doctor, paying as much as I did for glasses and not having an entirely good experience left sort of a bad taste in my mouth.

I've been coming to her office for about six months now for dry eye (specifically MGD), and she has gone above and beyond for every single visit. Dr. Telega is noticeably passionate about her practice, and I absolutely cannot recommend her enough!
