This review is based on my experience at the eyeglass place in June 2018. I called to make an appointment, and told the receptionist I'd email over my insurance. The day of my appointment, I emailed the insurance at 9am. At 3pm when I arrived, the receptionist seemed super confused. She hadn't checked the email, and didn't have my insurance. Ok fair enough. She starts to do it when I'm onsite. Then the older lady begins to tell her what to do (why didn't she check the email, go get the doctor etc) and after about 5 minutes of them going back and forth in front of me, the receptionist takes me up to an old and outdated exam room on the 2nd floor. The exam was as expected, but they have NO sanitary conditions in place for the equipment used during the exam. There was makeup and oil from the lady before me, all over the machine. I had to ask for paper towel to ensure my face didn't touch it. Gross. So after the exam I find out the receptionist apparently could not figure out my insurance. Ok, fair enough. I call, and while I'm on the phone attempting to figure out what she couldn't, the older lady tells me to "pay and go" and I can get a refund later..... So I go home, find the insurance card and information they needed and somehow couldn't locate, and send it over. I sent it to them based on info their receptionist told me--"send it over and we will reach out to refund you"-- welp, apparently they in fact did not take my insurance, but made sure I paid in full before I left, so I was stuck footing the bill. While the assistant was nice and offered me a pack of contacts as consolation-- which I truly appreciate-- it was overall a frustrating and odd experience, and I never even purchased contacts or glasses from them. read more

If you need a prescription filled from an ophthalmologist or optometrist, I highly recommend Lisa Rakusa, a Board Certified Optician at The EyeGlass Place at 430 S. Dixie Highway in Coral Gables. The phone number is 305.669.3890. She is professional, polite, personable, and caring. She carries a very broad range of reasonably priced, fashionable looking frames, but won't attempt to sell you one, if your current frame is damaged (as mine was today) but fixable (as mine was today. Thank you again Lisa.) But if she does fill your prescription, you'll receive fast, but accurate service. Lisa is a rare professional because she listens more than she talks. So I've been a customer of the eyeglasses places for five years and I could not be happier not to mention Lisa is truly amazing talk about someone who knows their business it is also excellent with people I made the mistake of going to a different place once and i never made that mistake again if she doesn't have what you need she will go out of her way to get it for you whether or not it's something that she normally has Lisa is amazing and will do whatever it takes to help you out I wouldn't go anywhere else read more

I have been getting my glasses and contacts here for years and find them to have the most unique and beautiful frames I've seen. The owner is constantly travelling to select new items and the service is so personalized and thorough I couldn't imagine going anywhere else! I recently had an excellent eye exam here also, as the new optometrist formerly worked at Bascom Palmer. I love love love The Eyeglass Place and highly recommend it to everyone I know! My husband and I have been going to the Eyeglass Place for a few years and I just sent my daughter. We love it but it isn't always the cheapest place -- the (expensive) designer frames just always look better than the regular ones! Lisa is fabulous at helping to figure out the perfect pair of glasses from among the huge selection of designer and regular glasses. And, she goes out of her way to be available for pickup. I have a pretty hectic work schedule. She agreed to meet me outside of office hours so I could pick up my glasses and have them adjusted perfectly. We do not get our prescriptions here because we also love our ophthalmologist in Coral Gables. We just bring the prescription to the store. I had the same very bad experience Oscar H. had in 2010.... Worst eye exam ever, glasses took a long time to arrive (over a month) even when I was promised they would be ready in 7 to 10 business days, and i could not see well with them. Same excuse was given to me: u need to get used to the new prescription, etc etc.. The woman who runs this places became very unhelpful and with a huge attitude. This place is a joke. They a GREAT selection of eyeglasses on site. Did not like the fact that it was very hard to schedule an eye exam. On the day of my exam I had to wait 30 minutes for the doctor to arrive at the office and wait another 10 minutes for him to get setup. The eye exam was the worst eye exam I've ever received in my life. When my glasses came in I noticed that I could not see as good as I saw with my old pair. I let three days pass to see if my eyes needed to get accustomed to the new RX, that same day I called them up and a lady picked up the phone. The lady was rude and unprofessional when I first address my concerns of my new glasses . It was after I raised my voice at her, that she spoke to me with no attitude. After all this they said to wait a couple of days more so my eyes adjust to the new RX since that RX is within tolerance. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT MY EYES CAN NOT TOLERATE THE NEW RX . They should stop making excuses, they should have corrected the issue on day one, with no ANDS, IFS, OR BUTS like they have done with this whole situation. DON'T GO TO EYEGLASS PLACE. read more

The Eyeglass Place is a high end eyewear boutique with very reasonable rates. If you are looking to purchase exceptionally good looking glasses that are as unique as you are, The Eyeglass Place is for you. I've been purchasing my glasses at other stores (For Eyes, Lenscrafters, etc.) and have been growing tired of looking like everyone else. I needed to find nice glasses that compliment my face and are different from what everyone else is wearing. I cringed every time I saw someone with the same glasses as I had. When I went to The Eyeglass Place and saw their selections I found it difficult to choose just one. Lisa was so helpful in helping me narrow it down and choose the right pair for me. I ended up falling in love with two pairs so she suggested I get one pair as prescription sunglasses. She was absolutely right in her choice as to which one to choose for the sunglasses. She has a lot of experience in the industry of fashion and glasses and it shows. I'm grateful to her for her help. My twelve year old daughter also needed glasses for the first time and of course I took her right over to see Lisa and she choose the perfect pair. Lisa is the proprietor here and will provide personal and expert care in helping you, especially if you have enough money to spend to satisfy her prices for the best lenses. Over the years I have discovered that lenses come in many degrees of quality and depending on the invisible price points you will get what the sales person wants to sell you for the range they can determine as best they can, what you want to afford. The frames are one thing but lenses, I later found out after buying the top quality Japanese HOYA Varilux overseas (for much less money than in Miami eyeglass shops), can be very poor grade and the quality of the fit also can be crap too. I bought 2 pairs of glasses here, my 1st ever outside of a drugstore, and I was ignorant of how to judge quality. In particular the ground edges of the THICK blanks used here was very badly done and should not be visible on the frames. The progressives from Lisa had obvious multi focus and uncomfortable to wear, I know its a very subjective experience to find the right glasses for yourself but now that I own sets that are quality products (from somewhere else) I can understand how the business works. I have tried one other popular eyewear shop in Miami and the results were the same: no time spent to show you a breakdown of the options and the price differences for each lens and when you are brave enough to ask about all that be prepared to be sized up and judged for being too poor to afford those nicer lenses. That sort of information is too technical to explain to the stupid customer anyway (even if the salesgirl could) and takes too much time from the job of selling as many pairs of glasses are possible in a day. I am happy to have found way better in a shop in Kuala Lumpur City Center mall then of the shops in Miami. The same level of quality I found there would have cost many times more in Miami. read more
