Walking down Bourbon Street you are bombarded with live music coming out of every other bar. Jazz, rock n roll, every genre imaginable. A lot of places have a cover charge and/or a one drink minimum. We came across the Famous Door est.1934. No cover and the music drew us in. The band was fantastic - the RetroPunkz. Fronted by a male and female singer, they had incredible voices and the musicians were very talented. Lots of people came in but it never got super crowded. Just a nice laid back crowd enjoying the music. I don't drink anymore, it's been about a year and a half, but I felt like something festive. The bartender made me a delicious drink with fruit juice, something sparkling and a bunch of fruit garnish. It was great and two drinks were less than $12. Definitely affordable. A lot of snobby places have non-alcoholic cocktails that are as much as a regular drink. But not this place and I really appreciated her! We had a great time here. read more

I haven't been to Nola in about 10 years which seems so crazy to say but it's true and it was so great to see a lot of the oldies but goodies still around, especially this spot. I always enjoyed the live music, energy and vibe of the place and this time was no different. Retro Punkz Band was so high energy, amazing and electric. Vegas the lead singer has such a beautiful voice and so much energy. She really puts on a show and puts the sweat into it. They cover all genres of music and do such a great job. They engage the crowd, recognize and celebrate special occasions and live to the hype. Definitely come check them out and bring your tip money because it is more than deserved! read more

Another loud Bourbon St bar. Stopped by on a Thursday night to listen the live band. They take all requests - just drop some tips in the bucket. Mixed crowd of young & mature. Drinks looked basic for any bar... standard beers, alcohol in test tubes, etc. Some of the drink girls are a bit aggressive trying to sell. One even flirtatiously pinched someone when he said no to drink purchase. Kinda weird. They have a bar in the back, a small dance floor in front of the stage, and a few high top two seater tables around. read more

Going with what I feel. No set destination while club hopping on Bourbon Street. Inevitably The Famous Door is where I'd stop to dance and drink for awhile. It's a particular song being sung by a hypnotizing voice at that moment that draws me in. No different was it with "rolling in the deep" this Saturday night. Friendly club on Boubon Street with good music. The band was kickin' it as I passed by and I got drawn in. The diverse crowd was really enjoying the high energy rock and R&B cover band, and I was as well. Bar service was quick and friendly, plenty of spaces to sit, stand and/or dance. This is the type of place where the men's room has an attendant who works for tips, and unfortunately also one of those ballpark metal urinal troughs, where I saw this huge cockroach and said "dayum!", as the attendant said "I've been meaning to get that guy all night." We came mid afternoon on Wednesday so it wasn't packed but the people who were here surely enjoyed themselves and the band. The band (can't remember their name) was killing it with excellent 80's rock music. Everyone was singing along and enjoying the music. We didn't have any food here so I have no idea about that. Right after breakfast. We strolled down Bourbon Street with the kids and my mom. This bar had a really good band. My kids wanted to go inside but cant cuz it's a bar but you can peek in and listen. That was fun! Well I got a drink from the bar and took it took go. Long Island for me and a virgin margarita for my mom. Best part of NOLA. You can have open drinks and walk on the street. Very refreshing and relaxing as you enjoy Bourbon Street! Oldest music club on Bourbon Street. No cover. I heard 13-year-old Harry Connick, Jr played here. I'm giving 1 star because I can't give any less. The Asian and Hispanic bar tenders (didn't give their names so only way to describe them) were complete assholes. The Hispanic bar tender never waited on us. Had to wait for the Asian guy and both of them sat at the opposite end of the bar the majority of the time never checking on us or the other patrons in the bar. There wee only 7 of us which all but 2 left (we left only 2 people there) because of the bad or nonexistent service! If bars want to fill their venue during the day get better staff. I will not return. Not giving my money to people who don't act like they even want you there. read more

Okay...so let's get into this! The band on tap for the night was the Retro Punkz (IG). THEY were amazing! The venue itself was MEH FIRST IMPRESSION: The ambiance is set. Blue lighting and soft lights on the band itself. Very inviting for couples or singles. Seating: very limited and the chair are old & not very comfortable. The tables and stools are flimsy... Food/drink service: We were a little taken back that there wasn't a server walking around taking drink orders. It's a small place...no reason there shouldn't be someone. Everyone was crowded at the bar trying to be served. Overall...the band made it all worth it! I have so many videos of the band...I hate that I can't post them! read more

We celebrated our anniversary and stopped in on the way back to our hotel as the joint was rockin'! One of the features of The Famous Door is that they have local bands perform and have a tip bucket to show your appreciation and write down a request for them to play. I tipped them and requested Brown Eye Girl, also noted that we were celebrating our anniversary! The band saw the request, called out my wife announcing our celebration and played a great version of the classic! Should also mention that the bar has a good selection of drinks, enjoying the Blue Hawaiian! read more

The place doesn't look like much from the outside but the band was amazing. We heard the music from outside as we were walking, so we decided to go in and we weren't disappointed. We visited the " Famous Door" on Bourbon Street and paid almost $20.00 for a Miller Lite and a High-noon. I guess everything goes up in price, but to pricy, so that's why we left. There are several pubs on Bourbon street but I kept coming back to this one. This bar had great entertainers and drinks! Several folks enjoying the music and dancing their hearts out. The drinks were okay but the vibe was really fun. Easy to miss this place while walking by but once you hop in you wont want to step out. They are also open until very late as compared to other clubs on the street. People walk in and walk out constantly. The crowd at times joins the entertainer on stage and everyone has a gala time. I always have a good time here, and feel very at home whenever I'm in NOLA. Good music most of the day and all night into the wee hours. The performers put out a lot of positive energy and the ones at night engage the audience. Rick at the The Fampus Door deserves some recognition. We were in town for the Taylor Swift concert last weekend. My daughter and her boyfriend had a great time at your business. Unfotunately, it appears someone had taken her phone and stashed it near the entrance. The location was pinging inside. I stopped by right before opening hours and Rick greeted me. I showed him the location and he did a pretty thorough look around where the phone was showing with no luck. I gave him my number in hopes he or someone could locate it. We left town and three hours later he found it hidden! Thanks to him our friends picked it up and have returned the phone. Thank you Rick! read more
