This bar has become my new favorite in the whole city. We stopped in on a whim one night hoping to get a chance to play some pool and it just blew us away. The vibes are amazing, felt like a house party. The DJ was incredible, everyone was dancing and it truly made the night. They serve my favorite beer, Korova Milk Porter in a frosted mug. Wow! My last review of this spot is from 8 years ago... when I was looking for spot to have a boozy brunch for Jenn B! So many years so many checkins. I miss bar hangs so much! I stopped by just before 12 Mile was shutdown for MG weekend and got some batched to go cocktails. My 12 Mile Limit was delicious as was my to go old fashioned. You can always count on an excellent drink from the bartenders. When I went it was to go orders only, at the front door with a plexi guard between me and the bartender + masks. Easy peasy. They are serving on their patio at the moment (I think). And food is definitely available. High marks to the management for doing everything they can to keep their people (employees and patrons) safe. read more

I am kinda new to this bar. I started revisiting it thanks to my new Nola Twitter frands. The rear patio is perfect with big round tables to get weird and hash out lifes troubles. Inside is the same. Hi low seating and enough space to spread out and have a great time. I been a few times when there is free food! Tip the bartenders even heavier on them days but that is so awesome! They are vigilant on check vaxx cards and that definitely brings a certain peace of mind. And it help keep out mouth breathers. Oh dear Lawd and butter! This review is strictly on their Sunday brunch which is quite frankly, amazing! Thanks to my buddy and first Yelper friend, John L. H. (Aka Steve's friend hehe) who arranged a UYE for Sunday brunch last weekend. My fellow elite Yelper friend, Mr. Danon H. Has always raved about their bbq so I tried unsuccessfully once before to partake of said deliciousness. But last Sunday was the day I triumphed and tasted the bbq eggs Benedict! Oh man, everything was so darned good I had to deconstruct it to make it last longer and savor the taste! (See my picture). First there is the buttery biscuit which is the basis of the Benedict. Then there is the perfectly made sunny side egg (just like I like it bc I like to break the yolk and make it ooze out). And the creme de la creme, the BBQ! Aww yeah! Mr. H has never steered me wrong and this BBQ was delish! It even tasted good the next day when I had it for dinner! FYI, you order at the bar and are given the option to start a tab, they give you a number, and then you take a seat. They were very gracious in saying the kitchen was backed up but this, my dear friends, is worth the wait! Fellow Yelpers tried the frittata and enjoyed it so there is another option! And one Yelper enjoyed the build your own biscuit! Oh, and there is a huge water dispenser near the door with cups. I will definitely be coming back again to eat! Happy brunching! read more

This is a review of the bar during brunch. When I think brunch, I don't think of a bar. Hell, when I think brunch I normally think of a meal that is a worthless invention. Luckily I have some friends who don't subscribe to my ridiculous views and they set up a fun brunch to meet and greet some Yelpers from Portland. When I walked up, I was a little reluctant. The door was locked and I had to be buzzed in. Normally that means I'm in a dangerous place, but once inside I realized I was not. The bar has a very neighborhood bar feel, but the owner/bartender was very welcoming and friendly. He was also making an excellent old fashioned for $5. Not only did he take his time making the drink, but he also tasted it from his stirrer to make sure it was just right. The bar wasn't very crowded and our large group had half of the place to ourselves. We were even able to play some great songs on the jukebox. It wasn't the internet connected variety, but there were some great, local hits. I really liked this bar. I hope someone else organizes more bar brunch outings here. read more

So I used to love this place. The drinks are good the food is Ok and the service use to be great! However, check your food before you leave. I placed a to go go order, they were out of pretzels, and half of the order wasn't packed. I ordered the plate with ribs and two sides. No ribs and only one side. I called to get a refund and they hang up on me. Nicely done!!! I used to love this bar for its causal environment and good drinks, but I'm not going back! PS: I got a reply back from the review. I like Twelve Mile, it's a cool, laid back, nice neighborhood bar. I always get screwdrivers because they squeeze fresh oranges into each drink, it's one of my favorite places for one. My only issue is that i typically hang out a bit later and they close relatively early for me, other than that it's a pretty cool place! All of the bartenders are super friendly and pour up properly. The owner, Cole, is one of the most down to Earth, coolest, most helpful person I've ever met. He was generous enough in allowing my production company to use his venue as a place to hold a fundraiser we held about a year ago for a film we worked on and the whole process was entirely seamless. They were even nice enough to whip up a specialty drink for our fundraiser that everyone raved over! Check out their calender for events, there's usually something fun happening here. I'm a comic and I perform here every Monday. There is free food on Mondays. It changes every week. It taste like free bar food. I ate it and will eat it again. My yelper friends have been telling me to come to Twelve Mile for years yet for some stupid reason, I only recently just made it here for the first time last week. Lesson learned: always listen to recommendations from your yelper friends! I fell in love with Twelve Mile at first sight. Immediate fangirl. So, you've got that cozy, slightly divey (yet not) lived-in, neigbhorhoody vibe that's irresistible to us NOLA barflies. That extra something-something? A killer selection of cocktails! Similar to my other two favorite bars in Mid-City, Pal's and Treo, this bar has it all, the non fancy pants vibe, yet the slightly fancy pants drinks (creative concoctions, rather than classics) and many non fancy pants drinks, that elusive something for everyone! Fancy pants-wearing girls like Yours, Truly can bring her "god, can I just get a damn beer and a shot" boyfriend to Twelve Mile Limit, yessiree. It's laid-back, friendly and I love it. The only slight disappointment is the change in menu. I hear that the awesome chef has moved on and the menu now barely has a decent vegetarian option on it. I ended up ordering plain tots (and hating myself after, but dang they are delicious). The loaded tots would be great if I ate meat and dairy (they even come with a pile of insanely yummy roasted veggies). Next time I'm going to ask if I can just get a side of those vegetables. I heard they used to have some kind of option where you'd order whatever vegetables they had and it would come in a glorious pile, but I saw no such option on the menu. That said, normally I'm not eating in bars, it was just one of those nights where I needed food in my stomach so I could keep on keepin' on with those wonderful Twelve Mile drinks. What an awesome bar! And what a sketchy neighborhood! Totally not what I expected. At all. Why is that, you ask? Good question. I think it's because for some reason I had the scenario reversed in my head: I've been wanting to check out Twelve Mile Limit since I found out it opened, so it's been months and months, and my imagined version of it was more like a dive-y bar in a nice-ish neighborhood. Instead, I got a shiny, dark wood and deep red, classy bar that serves drinks in ACTUAL GLASSES. It's apparently been a while since I drank anything served in something other than a plastic cup, because the whole heavy glass thing was kind of an issue. They're much more difficult to manage if you're standing outside on the corner talking to people and trying to type on your phone and etc. Anyway, although Twelve Mile Limit wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, I'm definitely not complaining because the kind of bar that it turned out to be in reality is WAY better than the one I had imagined. My favorite things: The drinks are REALLY CHEAP. My two gin and tonics were only $8, AND they came in a fancy grownup glass. The staff was super nice, and I had a chance to chat with the owner, who is awesome. Like super rockstar nerd awesome, and the bar is totally a reflection of his personality. (His words, not mine.) Oh, also, this place was an absolute falling apart mess when he bought the building, and he's done an amazing job turning it into something awesome. Twelve Mile Limit would definitely not be out of place if it were Uptown in the Tulane Bubble instead of on a surprisingly sketchy corner in Mid-City. About the neighborhood. First of all, I have an extremely high tolerance for places that Metry residents would consider the "hood," and so it's very rare for me to mention that an area seems shady. Because it's very very rare that I encounter a part of town that strikes me that way. Which is not to say that Twelve Mile Limit is in a bad or dangerous place. Bottom line: when I got there, I ended up being glad I drove instead of riding my bike, as I'd originally intended. Not enough streetlights and stuff in the three to four block radius. Another thing about the neighborhood: this is a PRIME SPOT. The Banks Street corridor is an up-and-coming area that you should keep an eye on. It's already awesome, and in the near future it's going to rock your socks off. Right now, you've got Twelve Mile Limit, Banks Street Bar, Finn McCool's, Crescent Pie and Sausage, Lazaro's, Huevos, and all kinds of other stuff I'm forgetting. Plus, Mid-City is the BEST 'hood in New Orleans, so as Banks Street continues to become more awesome, it will eventually become one of the best streets in the best neighborhood in the city. If I weren't quite so tired, I probalby could've conveyed all the information in this review in FAR fewer words. Unfortunately for anyone who attempts to glean nuggets of useful (or funny or cool) from my reviews, I'm not up to editing right now. Solution: I'll just add it to the Overly Long Reviews list. This local bar was just down the street from our Airbnb rental and came highly recommended by our host. Obviously this is a divey establishment in all the best ways possible. The décor is highlighted with memorabilia, pictures and oddities strewn on the walls, that dark bar atmosphere (that makes hangovers happy) and some small tables offering a place to down on this amazeballs food! We went for brunch on a Saturday and there was some other folks having brunch, nursing their hangovers and chatting with the bartender who they probably knew. You order your drinks and food at the bar but, the cook will bring your food out to your table according to the number that you get. Bloody Mary: Spicy, spicy, spicy! The mix was good and there was enough vodka to knock my hangover out and perk me up. Spinach and Artichoke Frittata: The size of the frittata alone was impressive; it was the size of a small frying pan, stuffed full with veggies including tomatoes and it was served with a side of hot sauce. The egg was fluffy and light and the veggies weren't over done which can happen with a frittata. This was 5 stars all the way and without the 5 star price! Even better! Build your own biscuit: May I just say how genius this is? The biscuit is huge and isn't a traditional biscuit because it's just better. I opted for the caramelized onion, bacon and pimento cheese sauce and added a hash brown to it. On point at every bite and the pimento cheese sauce is a definite must have. The hash brown was a formed hash brown like McDonalds but, it was obviously cooked better than the drive through. This place is why I love vacationing like a local. read more

This is a wonderful neighborhood bar. The staff here is very laid-back. The bartenders are all really good bartenders who know how to prepare drinks properly. Twelve Mile is high-end bartending without being in a high-end bar (a perfect situation for me as I am not a big fan of most things formal). They make some interesting drinks here including one called the Baudin which is made with bourbon, tabassco, honey, and lemon :) The food here is some of the best bar food. My personal faves include most of the bbq especially the brisket, their mac n cheese, and their bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers. Some things of note at this bar: - They have no sign outside - You have to get buzzed in to enter - They serve cupcakes - Smoke-free on Mondays AND Saturdays (a big plus in my book) Chris in the kitchen rocks!! As a Quarter Rat that rarely ventures out of her neighborhood, I'll say that this tucked away, MidCity neighborhood bar is worth it. No matter what the occasion - drinks to start the night, drinks to end the night, karaoke, or a comedy show - I always have a good time. Bartenders are friendly and I always get my drinks with good turnaround time. They started hosting a pop-up karaoke night there a few months ago that is one of the best I have been to in the city! The warm, cozy atmosphere of the bar melds perfectly with the eclectic bar patronage, making for a great, interactive, karaoke experience. Everyone sounds good and everyone has a great time! They have a nice, partially covered back patio if you want space for a more private experience. And they regularly have food (sometimes for free!). read more

Dear Chef Chris, When I walked in, I was full of piss and vinegar from a mishap that morning. I had been to Twelve Mile Limit before but never in the light of day or for a breakfast rendez-vous. The neighborhood doesn't scream welcoming, nor does the buzzer that I indubitably pulled when it wasn't ready and didn't pull when I should've. I busted in, to your surprise, with a miff mouth and sat with my peers. I was promptly ordered a Bloody Mary, my new favorite thing, that started the rejuvenation process. After noshing down on a pulled pork, slaw and caramelized onion while listening to a folk band, you asked me if I was in a better mood. Yes, Chris, you turned my frown upside down. A delicious meal that was pennies compared to other breakfast joints, great tunes and good friends. You can't ask for much more on a Saturday morning. Besides their brunch, the drinks are stellar, try the Great Idea, it really is such. I was able to relive my childhood by playing Nintendo on the TV behind the bar the first time I went. Gambling machines and video machines sidle up to each other on one wall, with funky murals plastered inside and out. To say it was a dive bar would mean the chef was in the back with a cigarette half way burnt down with the ashes snowing down into your never fresh always frozen tater tots and a burnt fried egg. This place is by no means a dive bar though it's neighborhood doesn't do it justice. Whenever I think of this place, I think of the phrase "A great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there." Twelve Mile Limit is a cozy little cocktail bar, but I have to agree with Tiff D when she said that it is a dive. It's pretty much a dive bar that tries to fancy itself up by serving cocktails. It's not in the greatest of neighborhoods (because of this, I have only been here once) and I think it's more of a neighborhood place than a place that someone would seek out. There are so many nice cocktail bars in the city. Going out of your way to come here for a drink seems like a waste. read more

It's a dive... But it's a dive that serves the best cake I have ever ever in my life put in my mouth... I can hardly restrain myself from going back to try more doberge flavors! We took the drive from the West Bank at 10pm just for two take out pieces of cake... Worth it 100%! Loved it so much I've decided that the almond will be my wedding cake! Brunch RULES. So does brunch with heapin' helpins' of mimosas that are made with fresh squeezed orange juice. They also make a delicious Bloody Mary. The brunch fare is simple yet really good. I had the build your own biscuit. One can also build their own burrito as well. I had the pulled pork biscuit with egg and I wish I could remember what kind of sauce they used; it was reminiscent of a hollandaiseish sauce but it had a bit of a kick to it. An on-line menu would be so helpful right about now... I spent a lot of time going back and forth to the bar. I think my mimosa glass had a hole in the bottom, because I was constantly refilling it. Another one of the things about this place that is really nice is that it's a non-smoking establishment. As a Portlander, I take that for granted. All of our buildings are non-smoking, and I do mean ALL. So, that does include all restaurants and bars. Thus, Twelve Mile Limit is ahead of the curve and I find that pretty awesome. Overall, I really enjoyed brunch here. The food is great and the price is such that you can brunch here every weekend. Stopped in here to meet friends one evening for happy hour. We had the peanut butter pie - OOOOH WEE! I am dreaming of it as I type this review. It was delicious. The other food was OK, the drink was OK, too. Definitely a divey type place and you can tell it is like a "Cheers" type bar if you are a regular. I like that it is located in a residential neighborhood for the fact that it makes it seem more cozy. They have trivia, which we plan to attend sometime and also had some social justice posters up on the bulletin board which was nice to see. I would possibly return here, but not my personal scene. After just one visit I can tell this place is gonna be a favorite. It has all of my favorite things (good beer selection, chill vibe, NO SMOKING!!! & it's in my zip code), plus a really yummy selection of eats that made me wish we had come here before stuffing our faces at the Mediterranean joint around the corner. What a pleasantly surprising experience this place was. I trotted in late one Saturday night looking for a quick drink to take the edge off of a very stressful week and maybe a nibble. I heard this place had quality cocktails at cheap prices and had my suspicions, but it all turned out to be true! I had the Baudin (bourbon, honey, lemon, hot sauce) and a Great Idea (vodka, zwack, bitters, lemon, ginger beer). Both were definitely quality crafted cocktails all for $6 each. Definitely a steal price on a speciality drink. You get an extra $1 off specialty cocktails during happy hour between 4-7pm daily as well. I took the plunge and got the loaded tots thinking it would be some sort of chili and cheese bar food concoction...but nope! It was indeed a plate of tots....that were TOTALLY invisible due to the heaping piles of pulled pork, chicken, Mac and cheese, coleslaw and grilled veggies. Needless to say I took the rest home and ate leftovers for two days straight. So I was again impressed with unexpectedly great food quality! There's also an assortment of games, a small patio area in the back that houses life size Jenga blocks, a free pool table (that's right! free!), and apparently some live music from time to time. This IS please note indeed a hipster bar despite some people saying that it's not. Not that it bothers me that it is. There's definitely an interesting mix of people but the majority of which are wearing black thick framed (probably fake) glasses, ironic graphic T-shirts, and obscure tattoos and jewelry.....thus.....definitely a hipster bar. This place may not look like much on the outside (or the inside), and the ambiance may not be much either, but nothing appears to be as it seems here! The only reason I ever found this place was because of yelp. This particular place is right around the corner from Finn McCool's Irish pub. First things first, this is not a cocktail bar, lounge, sports bar or even a dive bar. This a neighborhood watering hole! In other words it is very eclectic, and yes they serve food here. But I will get to that in a minute. The customer service is pretty cool. Every time I have been here the people behind the bar have always been friendly and welcoming. They seem to have a real knack for making you feel right at home. Definitely no pretentious attitudes here! Friday night I finally tried there BBQ. It was pretty decent I must say, for New Orleans it is good.I had pulled pork with baked beans and tator tots. So far this is the only decent BBQ place that I have found in New Orleans (no I haven't tried "The Joint" yet). So if I am looking for BBQ this will be at the top of my list. The beer price here are cheap, and the selection is okay. They do serve cocktails but I have yet to try any of them. Mostly I stick with beer and shots of whiskey. One day when I feel adventurous I will try one of their cocktails. The atmosphere of this place Rocks. Whether you chose to sit at the bar, one of the tables, or the couch you can watch the game on TV. If that is not your thing they have video poker machines, pool table or their version of Jenga. With the 12 mile limit version of Jenga instead of the small blocks of wood you use 2x4 wood boards. I guess it makes the game more interesting. The only thing that was off putting was a strange person that I encountered at the bar one night. When I was there the guy was engaged in a furious debate with his imaginary friend. Some people actually got scared and left. Not me though, I will admit that at first it was kind of annoying. But later on it was rather amusing, especially when I listened in on his conversation him and his imaginary friend were having. I asked the bartenders about him, they told me that he was a regular and that he was harmless. Works for me I guess, I think it just adds more novelty to this place. This is a great place! I highly recommend the brunch. The mimosas are really good, with way more bubbly than orange juice and the juice is fresh-squeezed. The bloody marys are also delicious and strong. I had an artichoke fritata. It covered the entire plate and had big lumps of artichoke heart in it. It was yummy and filling. Last time my review was all about the food, especially those barbeque sliders. This time let's talk about the drinks. One of my best friends from college lives just a few houses down from me and works a job that involves a lot of travel. When he's in town we like to catch up and chat, usually over dinner. Tonight he said he was in the mood for some barbeque and I immediately suggested he accompany me to Twelve Mile Limit. I've already written about how fantastic the food is, and my friend agreed. After some sliders we decided to chill for a bit and have a few drinks. So what separates one bar from another? Sure there's service and decor, but there's also the important signature cocktails. My favorite at Twelve Mile Limit is the Great Idea. The ginger flavors and savory afternotes are perfect with the barbeque, especially the acidity from the lemon playing against the vinegar of the coleslaw. Where their Twelve Mile cocktail is sweet and pomegranate based I don't think it would go as well with the food. Those are the only two signature drinks I've tried although I plan on trying more. But at the end of the night it's the Great Idea that I like the most. read more

This is a dive bar. A neighborhood hangout. It's great for what it is. Quick service. Good bar food. Chill place to drink and play pool. Not really something worth going out of your way for if you're a tourist, but if you're just looking for a drink, you could do worse than here. read more

What a great little spot in the middle of a nice neighborhood. We got there just as they opened and had a drink and played some pool. They have a great beer selection and full bar. It's an old converted home and the bar is in the living room. They have a stage so I assume they have live music nightly. We stayed for one drink but if we had time we would have stayed longer. read more

I have loved this bar forever and only love it more since they started doing karaoke night with Nicky Diamond. What a guy and what a fun time! Everyone should go sing their hearts out at his events.
