This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and feelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. The Farmer's Table was the perfect lunch stop for our road trip. The server was kind and checked on ingredients for us (stay away from the fries/sweet potato fries if you're gluten free). Stopped here on a trip from Pittsburgh to Ithaca. My dad is local to the area and recommended it. We got breakfast here - farmers omelet and the cheesesteak omelet, on our server's recommendation. Portions were generous and they tasted great. I'm not usually a fan of homefries but they were decent here. Our server was friendly and prompt. Overall, cute little place to eat in Blossburg that's worth stopping at if you're in the area. Only complaint is the coffee was a bit too strong for my liking. read more

What a gem, considering there aren't too many choices in this town. While the menu was extensive, there were only few items that caught our eyes. I'd definitely recommend the steak as it was juicy and delicious. The place is BYOB (no corkage fee) but bring your own corkscrew (and maybe wine glasses). On my way to Toronto, my buddy somehow scoped out this place when he started getting hungry. What a lucky find! I parked right in front of it and we were happily greeted and could choose anywhere we wanted to sit. The menu had plenty of options -- so many, that we both had to ask our server to help us pick between 2-3 different things. I ended up going for the cheesesteak omelet. Let me tell you. That was a GOOOOOOOD omelet, and it was very filling. And it came with (very) buttered toast that was also served with apple butter, AHHHHHH!!! I must say this was a very good meal, and I didn't eat again until very late. If anyone's taking a trip up north and ends up near this spot, do yourself a favor and drop in. read more

Good food at reasonable prices BUT BYOB (and corkscrew), The food was delicious. There were eight of us on a Sunday evening and we ordered and assortment of main courses. I had the ribeye steak and it as delicious. As bit too fatty and kind of thin but tasty and reasonably priced. I picked a side salad and sweet potato fries and they were perfect, Other things that were popular with our group were the pork chops and BLT Salad, About the only weirdness was the vegetable of the day which I could swear was frozen. On our way out we got a bunch of pies to take home and they were delicious. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely stop by and be sure to bring wine and a corkscrew with us. read more

This is a BYOB place without corkscrews. Be prepared to not only bring it and open it, but also to drink from plastic tumblers. The upside is that there's no corkage fee to pay. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Not fancy. The owner came by our table and we had a great conversation about local produce and meat sources. We also discussed the impact of COVID. I had the smoked pork chop and shared with my friend, because they'd run out and we both wanted that option. The regular order comes with 2, so it worked out to 1-each, which was enough for me. The pork chop was delicious. The green salad was made with fresh field greens and tasted great. The mixed vegetables were appeared to be from frozen (see photo--a surprise at a farm to table place). My friends had pie to go. I could have had ice cream (gluten-free option), but I didn't want any as it was in a paper cup and didn't seem that special. As a local, I try to get into every restaurant I can to support! And let me tell you, The Farmer's Table is the best diner in all of PA. I don't say that lightly! The decor is adorable, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the food is absolutely showstopping good home cooked meals. Consistently tasty breakfasts with excellent egg and meat quality and flavors. The burgers are always cooked exactly to order. The sides are always so tasty. The dessert cookies are so fun and yum! I love taking one home with me. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they're wonderfully accomodating to my food allergy. read more

A small town novelty is this family farm- fueled restaurant. Only a 20 minute drive from my hometown, the drive was well worth it to check out something new. I stumbled across The Farmer's Table last night on yelp, and perused through the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I was intrigued! So tonight, I took a trip to Blossburg, and was impressed by the restaurant's cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere that I would describe as modern farm- chic. The food- fresh and delicious! There were several options on the menu....it was difficult to decide! I went with the almond, cranberry, grilled chicken salad with a balsamic vinaigrette- the dish that initially caught my eye. My guest ordered a ribeye steak and was impressed by its taste and overall quality! Stopped in as part of a road trip after finding this place through a gps search - I wanted a proper meal (and I hate eating in the car!). So glad we did! Thankfully they were open until 8pm on a Sunday. We had the hamburger steak and fried haddock. Both were really delicious and flavored well! The sides were also amazing. The vegetable of the day was corn, and it tasted fresh (not soggy canned corn). They kindly agreed to give me a side salad, and the croutons were legit the best ones I've ever had! That may sound silly, but I normally do not like croutons, and I ate all of them. The decor is really cute. They have a kids menu and both high chairs and boosters which is great. They make pies in house as well. Portions are great for the price. Definitely recommend stopping in! read more

Stopped by with my family & our two small children on our way home from Hershey, PA. Thankful I found this little gem. It wasn't too far off the highway & it didn't seem like there was too much else nearby. Within the first few minutes my 3 year old spills a full cup of water all over our table. Our waitress was forgiving and quickly helped us clean up. The food was delicious & fresh. My husband ordered the crispy chicken salad, I got the rueben, my 3yo got a bacon, egg & cheese on an english muffin with tator tots & my 6yo got a kids grilled cheese also with tator tots. Then they also split a large frosted easter cookie. Also worth noting - the prices were SO AFFORDABLE. We ordered the prime rib sandwich, cheesesteak, cattleman's burger and chicken strips with sweet potato fries. All things were delicious and we would order again. Stopped here for lunch on the way home from a trip. My husband and I both go grilled chicken cranberry almond salads. It wasn't terrible, but definitely disappointing. The restaurant markets itself as a "farm to table" style diner, but the chicken was definitely the precooked frozen chicken strips. It was also so overloaded with cranberries. I think there were more cranberries than lettuce. It wasn't the worst salad I've had. Fresh grilled chicken definitely would've made a huge difference. The coffee was good. The ambiance was pleasant. Just had a fabulous dinner at Wheel Inn . For dinner we had beef enchiladas, with rice and corn. Enchiladas were more like deep fried burrito topped with melted cheese. A bit spicy for me but overall dinner and the service was fabulous. We both have plenty left for good lunch tomorrow . Great place for delicious food, atmosphere and incredible service. We recently stopped for lunch at this lovely family-owned establishment enroute to the FLX. My husband ordered steak quesadillas and I the Reuben. Both were delicious and portions were reasonable. Everything is made to order and service was friendly and expedient. Desserts are homemade, but we passed as we were maxed out from our sandwiches. The restaurant is an open design in a 19th c. building along the main street. The dining area is spacious and the bathroom was clean. If you like wine with your meal, just bring your own and a corkscrew and be prepared to use small tumblers.
