The Farmer's Daughter is an awesome nursery to walk through in spring, summer, and fall. I honestly think fall is my favorite season to visit since they have so many unique and interesting pumpkins. I recently visited to get some some flowers and vegetables for spring planting. I loved how many varieties of heirloom tomatoes they had. It was honestly so hard to chose, there were so many awesome options. I loved their little blurb about what each tomato was like. They had a large variety of annuals and perennials as well, the pricing is pretty comparable to other nurseries, probably a touch higher. The Farmer's Daughter is a must stop if you are a plant lover. They have an amazing selection of all types of plants arranged in greenhouses and outdoor areas. They have a section for succulents, hydrangeas, perennials, annuals, trees, shade loving plants, etc. they also have a greenhouse dedicated to herbs. Some greenhouses also contain really sweet housewares like cocktail napkins, decorations, planters, books, etc. There is truly something for everyone! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I often see them walking the grounds or at the registers in the first building once you enter the grounds from the parking lot. Beautiful day to take a ride to no Kingstown ! It's my favorite place to go get inspired! They have greenhouses all lines up all fully decorated with themes in each one! Today was an event so you could make mistletoe! I got a bunch of mixed greens to put in a vase and a bunch to fill my window box like a professional. They are reasonable prices but I don't mind paying a lil more to get unique gifts and decor you can't find anywhere else and beautiful plants for every season. The tree farm is amazing too! Wow. Great selection of plants and curated items. Bit what really separates this place is the service. I was there last weekend and bought a decorative pot. When I got home I realized I should have bought a second identical pot. I emailed the store the following morning and I received a response on a busy Saturday within 15 minutes. Brook - the woman who was texting me - scoured the store for an identical pot and although at the end of the day she was unable to locate one she provided exceptional service - emailing me repeatedly with updates. At one point she found one in a larger size but the one I wanted had been sold. The bottom line is that the level of service and responsiveness was really remarkable. read more

Started my garden growing season here --tomato plants, herbs, flowers, etc.. Stunning place--magical. So well run--someone loves what they are doing. When checking out I inquired about military discount. The woman who was checking me out asked me about my military service. We talked for a while--she was lovely and was very generous. Went to Farmers Daughter to pick up some pumpkins for my little girls to carve for Halloween. The farm is beautiful and well laid out but the employees are pretentious and snarky. The worst was when we were checking out and getting ready to pay the exorbitant prices for some regular old pumpkins, my 4 year old was playing with some gourds placed on the table next to a scale and the cashier rudely yelled at her to stop playing with them! We've heard such wonderful things about the Farmer's Daughter, and decided to give it a once-over on the way to the Made On Honor Market in Providence today. Today was a special event where they were showcasing all of their lovely wreaths, trees, and holiday decorations, along with some refreshments in the form of cookies and apple cider. We got here a bit too late for the cookies, though, and the plate had been picked clean by the time we arrived. *Sad trombone* Nonetheless, the retail section is divided among greenhouses and rustic cabins, which provide a welcome respite from the cold November weather. We got to see some gorgeous handcrafted wreaths and cute Christmas ornaments among the various displays. While everything was super adorable, it was also wicked pricy! A wreath for $65+? Wow! I can't imagine spending that much on greenery. To each their own, I guess. On the brighter side, they did make for some wonderful photos that got me into the holiday spirit for sure. A word to the wise - the Farmer's Daughter doesn't have a public restroom, so you'll have to "rough it" and use a portable toilet.. eek! Not my favorite part of the day. However, if you have cash to spend on some pretty decorations for the festive season and you aren't about to have a bathroom-related emergency, you may want to give this place a try! read more

Such a frickin beautiful place! I came here for their Christmas ladies night to make mistletoe and I am so glad I did because now I know where there is an amazing garden shop. They had so greenhouses and little cabin sheds filled with so many wonderful Christmas decorations, trees and wreath's. One of the biggest things for me was how much parking there was lol. I was looking for a rustic backdrop for my wedding photos on June 4, 2022, and spoke with the owner, Sarah, via email on May 9, 2022, providing the date, time and location. She replied saying it was fine and to confirm, to which my photographer responded confirming and providing her information. The day of my wedding, we were approached and interrupted MID PHOTO SHOOT by a woman saying the owner, Sarah, had no knowledge of us being there and that we did not have permission, even though I had email proof and provided information needed. Lots of fun was had picking pumpkins this year. They went all out with a corn maze and children a play area. I was impressed. Everyone was having such fun at the pumpkin patch. I spent a fortune on pumpkins. There were pumpkins here I had never seen before, yellow with green stripes, heirloom pumpkins in pink, green gray and ones that are a little warty so they have their hallows costume already. They have lots of traditional orange pumpkins and white as well, which are my favorite. Come with the family and have a fun afternoon. read more

Still 5 stars!!! In May, we bought 3 hanging plants for our front entrance and they were spectacular all summer. Now, I'm ready for fall and this IS the place for pumpkins - heirloom pumpkins, baby sugar pumpkins, Halloween decorations, and tons more. By mid-September, there will be gorgeous full mums, a gazillion pumpkins, corns stalks, and lots of people. There's a great flower garden in the back & you can cut your own. This place really came through for me! For a long while I searched all over for a house plant named a "ficus audrey". Unfortunately I could not find any near my home. Low and behold! This place in the great state of Rhode Island, contained several healthy ficus audrey's in their greenhouse! I had struck gold. So I bought one ficus audrey plant on the spot. It was a bit pricey, so I prayed to God it would not die on me. However it thrived in my home, and I ended up liking it so much that shortly afterwards I purchased another ficus audrey from The Farmer's daughter. Now, the plants are sitting happily under my front window, both brother and sister, and enjoying the sun some 60 miles away from their original home. read more

I had a gift certificate for this Garden Center and finally got to use it. It is very nice and they have lovely plants as well as lots of gardening ideas and gardening gifts and decorations. I walked through most of the garden center but because of bad knees I wasn't able to make it through all of it. They had arrows indicating which way one should walk in order to keep social distance which was appreciated. Their plants look very nice and very healthy and the people would nice but I found that it was rather pricey. I was looking for a plant in particular and didn't find it but that may have been my fault. There weren't a lot of people out in the garden center to ask questions of and I think that that would have made my experience better as I could not walk the distance that may have been required to find what I was looking for. This place is a gem. The beauty and quality is visible from the road, but pull in, park, grab a cart, and be prepared to be overwhelmed by the diversity of the plants, the artistry of the displays and layout, and the kindness, knowledge, and passion of the staff. The plants are all so healthy and loved. Your garden will already be at an advantage just from buying your items here. My mother is a professional gardener, and this is her nursery of choice, but I myself am just starting to delve into gardening. For her, this is a great spot to find all the quality items she needs and knows she can trust. For me, I know I can get hearty plants that will be able so survive my planting learning curve and that there will be plenty of people around to answer my questions and give me great advice. 3 years ago, my mother took me here to design 2 planters to frame the "altar" at my wedding. They were stunning, and each year she's able to winter them over and bring them out for a new season. My brother used the same planters for his wedding last summer. We got our Christmas tree here last year as well, and it was gorgeous. A Concolor (white fir) that was so unique and had the softest needles. Went here last weekend on a beautiful Fall Saturday and spent a half hour shopping their amazing pumpkin and gourd collection. It was packed, everyone was wearing masks, but still didn't feel like it was spaced out enough there to accommodate the crowd. That would be fine if there were multiple places to check out, but that's where they really screwed up. Anyone shopping pumpkins and gourds could only check out at ONE spot. There was a line of literally 50 people snaking around the place, causing a traffic jam. You'd think after so many years in business you'd have figured out an efficient system for checkout during a beautiful fall day at the height of busy season. Someone on the line in front of me was holding 2 little mini pumpkins and said "F this - are you kidding me? I'm not waiting on this line to buy two $2 pumpkins, I'm going to Stop & Shop" and left. After waiting a few minutes in the line, I too abandoned my carefully curated wagon of pumpkins and left. They probably lost a lot of business that day. Major bummer, hope you guys can figure out a better (and safer, socially distanced) system for checkout on Fall weekends. read more

A female owned and operated business, I have never experienced more pleasant staff. With that being said, this is a bustling place. Sometimes you have to really look around for help on peak times. The pre-made baskets are gorgeous -- especially around Mother's Day. They make salad bowls too -- an assortment of lettuces in a shallow bowls. Or you can buy plants by the flat. And then there's the shrubbery. Mulch and soil are also available. You will undoubtedly find wonderful options for landscaping or for your vegetable garden. I especially love that there are green wagons to pull around with your wares in them. There is pick-your-own raspberries in season and vegetables (mainly heirloom) available in season too. The staff also offers a variety of mini-classes and a butterfly garden that is available for parties. In the winter holiday season, you can get a christmas tree or wreaths varying from the clean and simple to the ornate. Dedicated to open space preservation - I just love all that The Farmer's Daughter is about. Only negative is that it is a bit on the expensive side. read more
