I visited Bear Street Tavern based off of a recommendation by a coworker. Beer and pizza is usually…read morea winning combination and Bear Street Tavern is a great example of this. Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

I was excited to go back to my hotel and brush my teeth and use mouth wash to get rid of the disgusting pungent flavor of the pizzas the waitress recommended. PS the bathrooms were DISGUSTING. Would not recommend.

Our server was very friendly albeit a bit frazzled, but the vibes were great all around. One of the best things about Banff Ave Brewing is that all appetizers are half off on Fridays (at least during happy hour)! They also have a nice selection of beers. Their flights are neat in that they offer 6 options instead of the more typical 4, so you can try everything you want to try. We had the nachos, poutine, and several beers. The poutine was a bit salty but the nachos were excellent, definitely get the beer cheese sauce as an add-on. I also got to try a special dragonfruit kolsch they had on tap, which was really mild and easy drinking as well. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Banff again!

The day was perfect for outdoor dining and people/traffic watching on a Sunday afternoon. The beers were cold and refreshing! The Elk Burgers were juicy, tender and delicious! Highly recommend! I enjoyed just sitting there and watching the world go by and soaking up the mountain vibes while sipping my Hazy IPA. Our server was friendly and on top of things... Making sure we had refills as we wanted and that our waters were filled too cuz the Mountains tend to dry you out. Especially when drinking alcohol. Ha!

After the tour, you can buy beer, soda and pizza in the restaurant area. Some of the craft beers are available on tap or available by the bottle or cases. We had a coupon for a buck a beer so bought a few and we love the Lazy Mutt Authentic IPA. The Sunshine is very light tasting and the Dutch has a bit of sourness to it. We also used our 2 for 1 pizza coupon, excellent pizza made hot and fresh. Nice crust and lots of sauce and toppings, the Lighthouse was covered with spinach, chicken, onions and mushroom. The Dolce Vita had pepperoni, bacon, onion and mushrooms. We came back to buy more $1 beer and of course had to have pizza again. This time it was very busy for a Saturday afternoon. There is no limit on the beer so we really stocked up! Great deal and Lei was a great help on the beer selections and great service! This is a must visit place when you come to Calgary. Thanks Minhas!

If you're coming here for the wide variety of alcohol and already know what you like, you'll…read moreprobably be satisfied. The food and service, on the other hand, are a different story. I ordered the boneless chicken wings, and one of them was pink inside. My wife ordered the Smashburger, which looked more like a sloppy Joe with some weird gravy on it. She specifically asked for regular mustard -- no honey mustard -- and they said that wouldn't be a problem. But they put honey mustard on it anyway. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the food unless you just need something to soak up the alcohol. Also, don't expect much in terms of customer service. They'll still charge you for the food -- even if you take a bite, realize something's wrong, and complain without asking for a replacement. Just a heads-up. I look forward to talking with whoever owns the business provided they actually care enough about their business to contact me or write back. .
