I'm disappointed by the quality, flavor and smoothness of the latest batch it tastes horrible, burns and should be labeled rotgut whiskey. It as no colour and should be changed back immediately It's no longer a sipping whiskey that went well with a cube of ice. read more

That's was a great experience. I can't find my receipt to tell you who helped us, but the young lady was knowledgeable and led us through a guided tasting of the gin and whiskeys. The gin was remarkable smooth. I liked a lot of their whiskeys too. They told us a lot of what they make is in the Calgary Airport. We had an early flight so we bought several bottles at the distillery and enjoyed them on our vacation. read more

The drinks are unique and excellent, their space is great as are the people. We did not eat there but grabbed some dill pickle vodka and a sixer of Carsar to go after we had a drink. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Stopped in the Eau Claire distiller after going for a Sunday drive in the area. I'll start by saying the drinks were actually fantastic. That's where the good of my review would end. When arriving and finding a spot on the patio it took over 20 minutes to get a drink order taken. The young lady who took or order had about as much interest in being there as a prisoner on death row. After ordering four drinks, waters, nachos, charcuterie board, and bruschetta the second wait started. Almost 35 minutes later we received our drinks from another waitress and asked for the water from our original order. 65 minutes later we were done our drinks and still no food. Going in to pay and tell them to never mind the food, or initial waitress was now running the till and had no clue about the food. Indicated it might have been the kitchen. The drinks were great, the food looked like it might have been good - but the service was pathetic. I'd say a few other staff looked more on the ball but this young lady has ruined any chance I'd be stopping in again for a $16 cocktail. read more

5s all day. Every day. If you are anywhere near Calgary or surrounding area this is a must go to. A must. We've been to plenty of distilleries/wineries but this one was different. They are doing something different. And have found an untapped niche. You get to try nation award winning spirits in an environment that transports you back in time. You get the prohibition feel/history with the taste and nostalgia. It's family friendly, has a great place to eat next door, and we could spent hours/dollars here big time. Their expansion plans would have as coming back time and time again. We were here just yesterday and had an amazing time with Jennifer's assistance. Support them. Support this community. In 2017, Yelp had their end of the year party here for Christmas where we had awards and drinks and food! This year Eau Claire Distillery also had a booth at "Taste of Calgary" and it was so delicious. Again I had all the drinks they were serving which included: - Parlour Gin and Tonic: Parlour Gin and Original Tonic - Cherry Gin Collins which is cherry gin, simple syrup, lime and tonic - EquineOx Mojito which is prickly pear vodka with simple syrup, lime and mint - Eau Claire Cesar which is three point vodka, clamato, spice and lime - EquinOx Mule which is Prickly Pear Vodka with Annex Ginger Beer So delicious and I cannot wait to have more of their drinks! read more

Farm to table! Eau Claire Distillery is a really nice and quaint distillery out in Turner Valley. From the deep south of Calgary, the trip took about 40 mins however it was definitely worth the drive. They are known to make quality spirits and use of farm to table concept. Not only that, the barley and rye they use are cultivated using horse drawn farming equipments. Nothing gets more authentic than that! They have lots of old and neat historical items on display around their tasting room. Their tasting room is very rustics and very beautiful as you can see from the pictures. The tour around the distillery room was very fun, engaging and also informative. Seeing their whisky room with all of their aging whiskey in different kinds of wooden barrels was quite neat! You can see that they were being strategic with placement of the barrels in order to achieve the flavours they wanted. The tasting room can accommodate a max of 50 people and their long table can fit 24. With their patio open in the summer, they can accommodate an additional 30 more people. If you happen to have the right number of guests, I recommend hosting a cocktail party at Eau Clair will definitely make a fascinating experience for you and your guests as food and drinks will not disappoint. read more

Local craft Distillery situated in the heart of the foothills. The Distillery tour is informative of local history with a short film to watch and includes a tasting after the tour concludes. This is some of the tastiest gin I've ever had in my entire life their parlor gin is amazing, but they make many Niche and seasonal flavored Gins throughout the year, not to be missed is there gin rummy at Christmas time. Recently they have brewed up a batch of scotch whiskey, they also make their own tonic soda in fitting with the gin and tonic motif. Inside you will find friendly staff knowledgeable bartenders, and lots of souvenirs. Additionally, Eau Claire Distillery has a program in which you can participate in the harvesting of some of the raw materials once a year at the bar U Ranch historic site just south of Turner Valley. If you're nearby at the Chuck Wagon or just touring South Down Cowboy Trail this is a recommended stop. read more

Three things really bugged me about this place 1. The food I ordered was sour and meagre. Old meat. No good! 2. The staff was incompetent and surly. 3. The distilled product, ie booze, is overpriced. Why don't they at least post prices of the bottles on display? By the time customers realizes bottles are over $50 each it is too late to save humiliation. Post prices people! read more

This distillery is really about the single malt, but we will have to wait until 2017 to try the first batch that's been aging three years. They are dedicated to making unique products with a sense of place, planting and harvesting barley by draft horse at Bar U Ranch national historic site. As they wait for the single malt whiskey to mature, they've been building a collection of fresh distillates that you can taste in the tasting room. In opposition to the norm, their vodka is only lightly filtered so you can taste the barley-derived volatiles in the alcohol. I get banana and chocolate. The gin is nice, but the prickly pear vodka is the definite delicious and unique offering here. Some seasonal liquors are also available. We did the tour, which I must admit was not great. I think the young guide we had was relatively new at the distillery and did not give a very engaging tour. The best part was the smell in the barrel room :-) The tasting room is nice with historic items from the area, and the sampling process smooth. We also got a craft cocktail afterwards so the whole process was the better part of an hour. We didn't get any, but there is also charcuterie and a few other snacks on offer. Definitely worth a visit, lost a star for the tour host and her bungling our bill too, but I suspect you won't encounter the same issues. read more

I've been eagerly awaiting the opening of Eau Claire Distillery tasting room for a year now! Today was the perfect day to take a drive out to the country...you can't really beat the view heading west from Okotoks and those Alberta mountains were putting on a show for us today. Located in the old Turner Valley movie theater, the distillery certainly has retained a portion of it's historic character as there are old props left over from bygone days scattered throughout. The remainder of the decor is equal parts rustic and antique, though I have to say the bar stools were maybe not meant for lounging around for long periods of time. Our tour guide Nash had a little trouble answering some questions (because it was his very first tour!) but he did explain the distillation process quite well and using language everyone could understand. Take a tour, enjoy a tasting and/or a house made cocktail or buy the merchandise. The experience, in addition to the view, are worth the drive out to Turner Valley. The distillery will be open to the public for tours between 10am and 4:30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, increasing to five days a week between 1st June and 30th September (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). As of May 1st, the tasting room will be open 5 days a week from Wednesday to Sunday. read more

So worth the trip to take the tasting tour, so much fun! A little movie to watch, and they take you through the distillery and talk about how each item is made. Then, you get to taste them all! The bottles are on the pricey side- about $50 but they are well worth it and stack up well against any similar priced bottle of gin or vodka. I'm not a huge fan of vodkas, but I would take the Eau Claire vodka over gray goose any day. Tried the equinox (prickley pear cactus flavour spirit) and loved it! but it's a "girley" drink kinda booze. I should say my favourite spirit is peach schnapps so take that into consideration :) Great fun day, and then you can have pie at the place next door! read more

It was so much fun here! Eau Claire Distillery is a craft spirit distillery located in Turner Valley, a short drive from south Calgary. They function on the principle that since the prairies are so rich in quality grains, why not produce spirits that use these grains here in Alberta? We did the tour + tasting + cocktail ($15/person). The tour took about 20 minutes and was informative about the business, process, and future goals. The distillery used to be a movie theater in which they have kept some elements of. It is a very unique space with a lot of history showcased throughout. Any questions you have, they are experts and will gladly answer them. The tasting included their vodka, award winning gin, and two distillers blend. It is definitely easy to see how their unique gin has won many accolades. The juniper is quite prominent and even when mixed in a cocktail the flavor was never lost. By taking part in the tour/tasting you also receive a $5 off coupon to purchase a bottle of their spirits, which we happily did! read more

Down in Turner Valley is the Eau Claire Distillery, owned by the previous owner of Big Rock Brewery. This place is beautiful, and located in the old theater. There are old film reels and memorabilia from it strewn about the distillery, a nice homage to the old building. Like most distilleries you have to wait awhile for your whiskey to be ready, so in the meantime they've made delicious gins and vodkas to insure some income. Their gin is to die for, and the vodkas are delicious. They even do some seasonal vodkas such as dill pickle (great in caesars), prickly pear and rhubarb. For a tour, tasting and cocktail you pay $15 which is a great deal considering if you just bought a cocktail it would cost around $6-8. The tour was neat, as you get to enter the barrel room and check out the various barrels - they have American Oak, Sherry, some JD barrels and more. These get blended together to make their single malt whiskey. Looking forward to when it is ready. read more

The tour, which I received as one of my Christmas presents this year, is short; the distillery is a small craft distillery after all. Came today with friends that live near by. Excellent choice. Tania was so fun and bubbly. The hummus was ssoooo good told -them they need to jar and sell it.. We had actually came to do a Whiskey tasting then found out they where only doing Gin and Vodka tasting. We where not disappointed the Prickle Pear was really tasty had to bring some home. Go give the place a try if your in the area. Drive up the road a bit to Sheep River you will not be disappointed with that either. read more

Really friendly staff and the tastings were terrific .. the Dill Pickle Vodka was an acquired taste ,if you like Dill Pickles you will love it. This place is absolutely amazing. Not only can you taste the love that goes into everything they do, but you kinda feel like you've gone back in time. You've traveled to a time when tradition, quality ingredients and good old fashion hard work is at the fore front of everything. I highly recomend the distillery tour with the tasting. We had Cal as our guide. He was full of great info and interesting stories. Can't wait to come back for the whisky when it ready. read more

Wow I absolutely love this place! So happy that craft distilleries are now coming to Alberta. We have been visiting places like this in the states for years and I was so excited to find this place! The facility is the old theatre with a built on tasting room and patio. They kept artifacts such as the old film reels and projectors as well as old prohibition treasures they had found. We decided to do the tour, tasting and cocktail bundle for $15. The tour was a short one that went over their process and explained the farm to bottle concept. All the ingredients are locally grown and farmed which I loved. They went over the many details about distilling and had a short video to watch theatre style which was cool. They said soon they will offer catered meals in their aging room with pairings which would be amazing. The tasting offered 3 tastes. Their regular vodka, Gin and the one seasonal prickly pear. All were some of the best we've had and you could easily drink straight on ice. The women was able to answer all our questions and was engaging and excited about it. The cocktails we had were from their seasonal lines. A ceasar with pickled vodka, A lemonade with rhubarb gin, and a mojito with the prickly pear gin. Every one of them was amazing and perfect on a nice summers day. With the tour you got a voucher for $5 off a bottle of your choice which we all took advantage of. The only way this could have been better is if they bartenders were classic and every ingredient was handmade in the traditional bartender style but that's being picky. Can't wait to come back to see what else they do and to try the whiskeys currently aging to perfection. Hopefully will be able to do one of the catered dinners as well! read more

This was truly a pleasant surprise. At the Millarville Farmers Market and decided to check out Eau Claire and then made it in time for the tour. Great back story. If you believe in shopping local this is your place for gin, tonic and vodka. The tasting afterwards closed the deal so we stayed for lunch. Thumbs up on the Moscow Mule. We just needed a snack so went with charcuterie board. What a great tour of the tastes of southern Alberta. I have recommended to friends and they were equally impressed. Can't wait to take out of town guests with us next time to this fine showcase. read more
