    Beautiful venue

I attended a find raised at the Fennec's rental space. It was amazing! The bar was well well stocked and the service on point! The venue was perfect for the event. The food was not my favorite but likely the choices of the event hosts.

I have been to the Fennec a few times. The vibes are sometimes hit or miss, but the food is always amazing!! We went in for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they were having March Madness specials that included happy hour all day for all around 1 matchups. Our bartender David was so attentive and he provided such good service. The drinks were yummy and perfectly balanced!

Came here to say to watch a baseball game and was very impressed with the set up. Not just TVs everywhere, but massive TVs on the wall. They also have plenty of seating and pool tables. I sat at the bar and the service was great as the bartenders were chatty and quick with the drinks/food. I got the nachos which were a little subpar in my opinion especially for the price. Everything was pretty expensive on the menu but honestly every place is like that now so not sure it's that crazy. I will say that everyone else around me got food that looked really good so I will be back but will have to order something else. They also have drink deals for Barons games which is something I will keep in mind!

I went to the Fennec to watch some of the games for March madness. They have one huge screen in the middle and plenty of other large TVs throughout the bar so there's always a great view. For drinks we ordered a beer bucket which comes with 5 domestic beers of your choice. They also have a pretty extensive cocktail menu. For food, I ordered the Blazer Burger which was pretty good although the patties could've been juicier and it was a bit expensive for what you get. It came with fries which were flavorful and the perfect crispiness. Our waitress provided excellent service, checking in often to see if there was anything we needed. Overall, a great spot in Birmingham for grabbing some drinks while watching a game!

I came in because I heard this was the spot for live music, but I picked the wrong night. Apparently, there was a show (music theater) playing at the arena down the street and everybody was there. This place was empty except for one other table. There was a guitar player when I walked in, but he finished one song and left. The food was good, but the empty place on a dreary day was a little sad, especially by myself. And the room was cold. Not going to taste down since I picked a bad date, but can't say too much either.

Had the opportunity to visit the venue for a private event. The venue is always nice to visit but the parking not so much. The venue is great for party with very spacious, good drinks, and awesome atmosphere. I enjoy visiting this place!

I know The Fennec has made some changes, especially with the addition of Ramblers Sports Bar and Grill. I really like the new setup, with more TV screens throughout the facility. I tried the hot honey wings along with the drizzle honey sweet potato fries, and they were delicious!

A friend and I came here for Sunday brunch. I arrived at noon and upon entering , the outside hostess asked me if I had a reservation. I didn't have reservations but was seated fairly quickly at a comfy booth. Our server , Z was new. Overall she did a nice job. She was kind. A little slow at some things but grace given. The brunch menu offers some apps, a number of entrees and a few salad options. And of course, cocktails. We both had Wiley wings ( honey hot). They were decent and filling. Not spicy enough for me. I added a waffle on the side. My friend added a side of the potato hash. This dish name doesn't match what you actually get. It basically was some overcooked, extra crispy pieces of potatoes. The setup has changed some since my last visit here. They have added a new front bar, which is cute. They are utilizing the space that has more natural light. I actually love that! In the warmer months , they told me that the windows are opened up. I'll definitely be back to experience that. Glad we decided to come here. We were able to easily go from brunch here over to RMT to see The Color Purple.

This was my second time visiting this establishment for a special event and I just love it. The food was good and the band was great.

The live music was great during happy hour. They have good happy specials. I ordered the 3 way app. The hummus, pimento cheese, brie and the vegetables were average. The pita chips were not good at all. I was told the waiter was made aware but nothing was said to me and I didn't push it. My friend got the potato skins and liked them. Others had the fish and shrimp tacos and seemed to really enjoy them.

Bookmarked this place to try & it was so good! Me & the hubs shot a lil hookie from work grab a couple of drinks & ate good! He had the shrimp poboy & I had a fried chicken Caesar salad but I added tomatoes & bacon so bomb we had the yellow hammer drink which I wasn't too fond of but overall great meal nice atmosphere (we sat outside) our server completely forgot about us but his back up made sure we were taken care of i forgot her name but she was the hostess when we first arrived... thanks girl!! I highly recommend them & will definitely be back

Was recommended I should check out this place called The Fennec so well I did. I have never heard of or seen this place until I was told about it and now I'm like why didn't I know about it sooner?! The atmosphere itself was awesome with a nice bar, live music, nice looking stage and dance floor and yes a disco ball! Great place to hang out and eat good food. The staff was top notch our waiter was so great. We had to wait almost an hour for our food only because the kitchen was backed up with a huge parties order. We didn't complain once we totally understood. But this waiter was on his A game! Even though we waited nearly an hour for food we were not disappointed the food came out hot and fresh everyone at their table loved the food they got but you know me I order neutral unless I'm recommended something in particular. The burger I got was legit cooked perfectly I ordered it medium well and that's what I got a hot juicy burger. However there was literally no seasoning on it salt and pepper would have took this thing sky high. Wasn't a huge fan of the kaiser roll but that's just me being picky at that point I personally just wouldn't use that but it was toasted perfectly so no complaints. I will say I ordered bacon on the burger and only recieved one strip of bacon on it and I found that to be very odd. HOWEVER the burger gets a solid 7.9 out of 10 from me. Having some salt and pepper would have had it in very high 8's The fries were fries crispy salty good to go no complaints. The wings I personally think $15 for 6 wings is a bit much but they do give you 6 jumbo sized wings with fries and ranch. I ordered the hot honey wings. These wings were so hot when they came out and had a nice spicy and sweetness I just loved. But once again they clearly weren't seasoned. Some seasoning salt would have set these bad boys off! Wings get an 8 out of 10 from me. Had they been seasoned definitely a 10. We also got the Churros for dessert these things were so good it came with 4 churros covered in cinnamon sugar, chocolate drizzle, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream, oh and on the inside of the churro it was filled with caramel. All that and it still wasn't overly sweet. Definitely 10 out of 10! I highly recommend you go check this place out its well worth it. The portions a appropriate and you are getting what you pay for including live entertainment. I'm coming back to this place and I'm bringing more people with me. If you haven't been here please go check this place out!

We got in from our drive from Tulsa, OK and needed to get our first meal since breakfast. It was me, my husband, and 17 year old son. This place was super close to our hotel and decided to check it out and wow, what a fun surprise! They have a huge two sided bar with a stage and a guy was signing and playing guitar and harmonic. There is another stage at the back of the place with a separate cocktail lounge. Great vibe and feel to the place. You can tell that place has to get hopping at night. Tables are removed by 9:30pm. We started with pretzel sticks. They were good. I ordered the Cat Ballou, it was very good. A little sweeter than I typically like but it was good. I had their grits and greens with fried green tomatoes and it was tasty. The guys got burgers and fries and enjoyed them. Husband got their tomato bisque soup too. It was good and a different flavor profile...a little salty too but still good. Service was friendly and very good. We got to hear one song of the Jake playing for the night. Excellent way to end a day of driving.

For a restaurant at this price point, the service was inexcusable. Our server, Chris, failed to take everyone's drink and appetizer orders before walking away from the table. We were a party of eight -- large, but hardly unmanageable. When appetizers arrived, he made no effort to confirm that every guest received their items. One of our guests had to physically track him down to report missing dishes. The food issues were just as bad. The birthday girl ordered a steak -- nearly $90 -- and it came out overcooked to the point of being burned. It had to be sent back and remade. That is simply not acceptable at this level. Another guest ordered the Lobster Pasta, which was under-seasoned, watery, and so overwhelmingly lemony it was nearly inedible. She flagged it to Chris, who took it back -- then had the audacity to include it on the final check and accuse her of eating it. It was offensive. When we raised these concerns, the manager on duty, Marshall, was condescending and dismissive rather than apologetic or solution-oriented. Our table spent roughly $1,000 that evening and left feeling disrespected. Birmingham has grown into a serious food city with high standards and plenty of options. With food and service like this, Lapeer will find it very difficult to compete.

Not sure if the lights are part of their everyday decor or if they were for Christmas, but it's absolutely stunning! I could see this being a great venue for a rehearsal dinner, work/birthday party, or a small wedding/prom venue (My graduating class of 7 would have had enough room!) My only question is how do I get invited back to this place?! I don't plan events, but this is a place I definitely want to come back to! My wife determined that the local botanical garden opened by 7 a.m. (!) and was also free, so we opted to stop here before the museum opened later at 10 a.m. We made it here by around 7:30 a.m. A word of caution - the highway interchange nearby was nightmarish. We missed 2 turns (even with a navigation app running). I don't think it was just me. So be careful and add a few extra minutes to get lost. Once finally off they highway and through the final roundabout, we proceeded along a road bordering the gardens. On the other side appeared to be an expensive hotel and an upscale shopping / dining plaza. The garden was having some sort of plant sale, and crowds were apparently expected. They had traffic control cones in place, but we arrived early enough so that parking was still plentiful. When we left, it seemed like the lot had mostly filled up. The gardens are quite large. They are divided up into sub-areas and there is a large map posted about 100 yards inside the main gate. No paper maps were on offer, so I guess you can take a photo of theirs and use that. We first strolled to the Japanese Garden. We had this to ourselves until almost when we left. This area is quite large by itself. They have koi ponds, a tea house, etc. It was nice. We took an alternate path back to the map pavilion. From there, we explored other areas (mostly dedicated to specific flowers). Some of the terrain is hilly. We routed through the vegetable garden and eventually ended up back at the central formal rose garden. This was being watered periodically that morning and some of the brick paths in it were flooded. They seemed to have some satellite restrooms in remote areas, in addition to the main set near the gate. We spent almost 2 hours here and probably could have spent even more time, but we wanted to drive to our prime stop. If you have any interest in botanical gardens, this is a very worthwhile stop.

You can easily spend hours exploring the many trails that wind through beautiful flowers and plants, the serene Japanese Gardens, and even an active beehive community--which was my favorite part! We were on a bit of a time limit and didn't get to walk the entire property, but we still managed to spend about two hours covering roughly three miles, and it never felt rushed. While it's still a little early in spring for everything to be in full bloom, there were still plenty of gorgeous floral displays to enjoy. Some of the trail directions can be a bit confusing at times, and we did end up wandering off course once or twice. That said, it was never difficult to find our way back to the main trail and continue exploring. If you're looking for a place to meander, slow down, and truly enjoy nature, this is absolutely the place to do it. A peaceful and rewarding experience overall.

A band from Austin, TX and beautiful altars set up to commemorate the dead lost loved ones in true fashion of the holiday. Fires burning in chimineas, colorful lights, friendly people, murals, activities, face painting, beers to drink, food trucks serving. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was in Austin! Weird! The Dia de los Muertos altars are all beautiful too. Each person who passed away represented a universe contained within the beings that they were.. the altars had items that they had enjoyed in life, photos, paintings, letters, favorite coffee cups from which they drank only to mention a few. The vigillette candles are glowing and lighting up the way that was each life which was lost. I just popped into town and did not have the chance to set up an altar, but I did light my own candle and set it in a special place to commemorate those who I have lost. The red glowing sparks from the open bonfires there went into the night sky and burned out into infinity much like the lives that were being commemorated. So long momma. You are remembered and loved. The Nick is definitely not for everyone -- but it's absolutely an experience you'll never forget…read more After my friend (who was hosting us) passed out, my other friend and I decided to see more of Birmingham's nightlife. A friendly bartender at Up-Down Arcade Bar (another must-visit!) told us about this place, mentioning it's one of the few bars open 24 hours on the weekend. Naturally, curiosity won. From the jump, this place had character. There's a bouncer at the door, a makeshift elevated DJ booth to the right where you have to pay cash for a "membership." Don't worry -- there's an ATM conveniently behind the booth, ready to charge you a nice little convenience fee if you didn't bring cash. The membership lasts a year, but still, that was a first for me. Inside? Small. Crowded. Lively. And at 1 AM, there was a guy passed out in a chair right by the entrance -- with his dog roaming freely around the bar. I honestly couldn't make this up if I tried. The bartenders were solid -- fast, cool, and trying their best to keep up with the rush. There's a selection of local beers (pretty good ones too) and two pool tables... well, technically one, since they only had one cue ball. The pool sticks? Ancient relics. The bathroom? I'll spare you the visuals. Outside was much more breathable. There was a local guy named Walter -- from Georgia, of all places -- selling BBQ. Cool dude. The turkey wing was a little tough, but his attitude made up for it. Now, the real highlights? The people and the atmosphere. You've got folks eavesdropping on your conversations, tossing around racially backed jokes at me (that I politely corrected), a row of chain-smokers out front, and a woman openly asking for cigarettes or change that may have been homeless, but was definitely a crackhead and she so eloquently vocalized. It's a gritty and downright raw type of place, but somehow, it works. There wasn't any live music when we came, but I'm sure that's what makes this place shine more than it already does in its own unique way. I'll definitely be back for a performance night. Bottom line: Five stars because The Nick is exactly what it's supposed to be -- an unfiltered slice of Birmingham nightlife that refuses to apologize for being itself.
