Service was awesome. Our waiter was fantastic. I just wish the food was better! Sadly, the food was just meh. My kid's said their food wasn't great. Overall a 3/5, but my one daughter didn't even finish her little slider. She said it was "inedible". The breakfast melt my husband got was just ok. Burger was pretty good. A little skimpy on the meat and more greasy than I prefer, but aside from that, it tastes like a burger I'd fix at home. So good, but I'd hope for more than a home burger when I go out to eat. So I'll give it a 4/5... but only because I have high standards for a burger. The beer cheese pretzels were great, and kids eat free on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult meal, so I'll take that. But even if you go on a regular day, kid's meals are super cheap. If your kids don't also have high food expectations like mine, then bonus for you. First time at this chain. Was pretty impressed. Parking spaces in the back (appreciate the parking lot for parking a truck). Restaurant was clean. Bar was nice with 4 large TV's and nice beer and liquor selection. We opted to do the $15 flight. You get 4-1oz pours of select whiskeys. The bowman port barrel was my favorite (smooth and with good taste). The least favorite was knob creek 12 year. Was not near as smooth for a 12 year whiskey (surprised). It will out some hair on your chest! Pretzels were my favorite appetizer. It was hot and salty! Pretzels were served with beer cheese in a cast iron dish (love). The pretzels were soft and buttery. No complaints. I will knock them for this dip trio though. That salsa tasted canned from the store and not a fan of the buffalo chicken dip. Queso dip and tortilla chips were great though! I went to Big Whiskey for the 1st time and I definitely will be back. We sat at 1 of the tables in the bar area and had the amazing server Riley. He gave us the 411 of their biggggg menu. We arrived at 240pm and wanted a drink but he suggested we wait til happy hour that started at 3pm. At 2:55pm he came back and got our drink order...he remembered while I totally forgot lol. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report an incident that occurred on May 6, 2026, between approximately 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM at your Hoover, Alabama location at 5250 Peridot Place, Hoover, AL 35226. I visited Big Whiskey's with my fiancée, my service dog, my mother, my sister, and her fiancé. Upon arrival, we requested outdoor seating due to my service dog. The manager shown in the attached photo directed us to a table outside; however, the seating area placed us directly in the rain. When we expressed concern about being seated in an area exposed to the rain, we were told we had to remain there because the seating arrangement was specifically for a party of six. At the time, the patio was otherwise empty, so it was confusing and frustrating that no alternative accommodation was offered. My mother then asked to speak with the general manager, but the request was denied without explanation. At that point, I began recording the interaction, which is when the attached photo was taken. After I started recording, the manager became increasingly aggressive, got in my mother's face, and began yelling. The situation escalated to the point where my brother-in-law and I had to step in to separate everyone and attempt to calm the situation. During the confrontation, the manager repeatedly put his hands on members of our group, invaded our personal space, and used extremely inappropriate language toward us. This behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. What makes this especially disappointing is that Big Whiskey's has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I am also a public social media influencer with a large audience, and while I have video evidence of this incident that could easily be shared publicly, that is not my intention. My goal is simply to ensure this situation is taken seriously and addressed appropriately so that neither I nor any other customer has to experience treatment like this again. I would appreciate hearing from someone regarding how this matter will be handled. If no action is taken, I will have to consider sharing my experience publicly along with the video evidence. Had a great lunch at Big Whiskey's. There is so much on the menu that looks great. We sat in the bar area and had outstanding service. We tried the triple dip and subbed the salsa out for the regular queso. The queso, spinach queso and buffalo dip were all great and full of flavor. I had the traditional wings and BW fries. I had the BW original buffalo which is a hot honey mixed with buffalo sauce. This was some of the best flavor I have had on wings. My wife and daughter shared the Cajun Coastal Combo and loved it. Third trip to Big Whiskey. Third huge disappointment. They are consistently understaffed. My average time at the barbe for being acknowledged is 10 minutes. First drink delivered at 15 minutes. One star Terrible service such a long wait even to put our entree order in. No water refill, food came out completely wrong, food didn't come out together and when it did come out it was cold. Steak underdone and manager came out to apologize which was nice but the waitress' service was so bad then the food came out wrong just ruined it. Just dealt with it since we already waited and half the table was done eating. Food was mediocre too maybe would have been better if it was actually warm. I always come here and from the greeter to the food is amazing but thanks to rude Samatha at the door she has completely ruined it. When we walked in Samantha was not welcoming or friendly at all. I get it was crowded but my husband is a combat veteran that deals with PTSD and we were trying to sit over to the side in a booth that wasn't being used. I get that the booth was for a party of 4 but not being used but simply saying hey let me talk with my manger to see if we can accommodate you to me would've been a nicer way to handle someone who has served our country. My guy and I ate here after his little cousin's high school graduation. We had a large party but Rivers, our server, did an excellent job accompanying us. I ordered the chicken bacon quesadilla and he ordered the brownie skillet. We had eaten elsewhere so we weren't really hungry. However, we both enjoyed our orders. Loved the dried craisins, toasted walnuts, and sunflower seeds. The dressing was very maple forward and a tad too sweet for me, I'll sub it for something else next time. First time experience at BW for me and was looking forward to dinner with a longtime friend. The waiter was so nice and very attentive. The food was average (wings and fries) it was around 5:30/6:00 on a Thursday so the restaurant was pretty empty. After our meal, we sat there and chatted for 20 minutes (maybe) when our sweet waiter asked that we should basically take our conversation elsewhere. I could tell he was very uncomfortable asking us to leave but I was MORTIFIED. If there was a crowd waiting to be seated - ok fine, but there was not. If we were loud - ok fine, but we were not. Wanted some fries while visiting from out of town and most places were closed. I was happy to see this place was open and the menu was varied-yay for my vegetarian tongue! Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a very friendly hostess who seated us immediately. Our server came shortly after and took our drink orders. The drinks were average. My mojito tasted like syrup and water. The fried pickles were pretty awesome and a fun take on a classic. All of the food came out pretty quickly but the service also had a very rushed feel. The server grabbed a plate of food we were still eating without asking if we were done. She was sweeping near our table and just seemed ready to go-even though they don't close until after 1 am. The wings were average, the cauliflower wings were fried well and the sauce was tasty. The fries were good-reminiscent of bowling alley fries-that's a good thing lol The manager visited every table except ours and some tables multiple times. Even as we were exiting, he was standing at the door and said nothing. The hostess wished us a goodnight. The Sunday brunch menu is fantastic. The bar has a very nice vibe, with screen TVs for watching games. The staff is amazing and very helpful with any menu ideas. Updated review!!! After a 2nd trip to this location - when they were DEAD.... Originally I mentioned that they were busy and I gave them a pass for the slow service because they were busy. However - this visit - when there was no excuse - service was even worse! We literally had drinks and chips.... And we had to wait for a VERY long time for every refill or visit from the sever. Even with that... we might have stayed (we were in no hurry), but when our server asked us to cash out so she could leave (end of shift), we waited for 15 minutes and nobody else approached us. There were literally 3 tables sat in the whole place and service was HORRIBLE. We left and went to BWW... which my husband usually avoids like the plague. Service there was 1000x better. Finally was able to check out Big Whiskey's. We went on a Saturday afternoon and luckily there was no wait, so we were immediately seated. The food came out very fast and it was actually quite tasty. I ordered the bourbon salmon with rice and broccoli and a side salad. The food was a decent portion as well. The menu had a lot of different items to choose from. The service was great and the restaurant was also a nice size. I saw where they have good looking happy hour menu during the week so definitely will be back to check that out. read more
