Tucana Tiki is a great experience from start to finish when you walk in it's like traveling to an island oasis. They have multiple seating options; the first floor has booths that can accommodate smaller and large groups. The bar area is very inviting and fun to be able to watch your drinks being made and upstairs offers a more private area. When not seated at the bar they do have someone to come around to make sure you have what you need. The servers are very nice and tend to remember you, which is a great feeling. The menu rotates seasonally, which makes it easier to try new things. My favorite menu item so far has been the cheeseball that was on the menu around Christmas time. It had a great flavor served with crackers the only thing is when we came back after the first of the year it wasn't on the menu anymore. On my most recent visit I had the queso which also had great flavor, served with blue corn tortilla chips. When it comes to the drinks I like how on the menu they let you know how strong it is using toucans. Many of the drinks feature rum, but they do still offer some gin and tequila options. Everything I've had has been good and something I would try again. I would like to note that many of the drinks are fruity and can be somewhat sweet. At Christmas time they even had holiday themed drinkware which I felt was a nice touch. If you are not a drinker, they also have options for mocktails. We were in town for the holidays and after dinner we stopped by for a couple of quick drinks at Tucana as we wanted to try something new and this was our first time here. Its a very cool spot with upstairs seating but we sat at the bar and ordered. The containers the drinks came in was really nice as mine was in a gingerbread man and I really wanted to take it home, LOL! Had a late night stop with a friend to grab a couple of drinks yesterday. This is my first night visit and I loved how cozy the feel was. They weren't very busy, music was a vibe and service was great! Order: Corn & Cane - This is such a fun and well balanced drink. Liquid elote basically. Really solid choice! Considering going back today just for it. lol Grass Isn't Greener - On the sweeter side yet still enjoyable. Anything with lemongrass has to be ordered if I'm around. Zombie - Pleasantly surprised that this wasn't overly sweet. These have a limit of two per customer. I had the most amazing mai thai as I made my way to this restaurant for the first time. It's more of just a bar, but the atmosphere, the decorations, and the people were great. I enjoyed my time. The mai thai was very strong. Which is the way I like it. My husband had one of the Christmas special drinks. I think it was the gingerbread. They give you this gingerbread cup that your drink goes in. It was very cute. I was just here for a visit to Alabama for a couple of days before Christmas. Stopped by Tucana after an event to try their holiday drinks and enjoyed it as always! I tried the All Spruced Up. It was outside of what I typically go for, but it was one of the bartenders favorites so I went with it. I'm happy I tried! It was a balanced, velvety drink and was served with a cake pop! The new spot in the Denham Building was super cute and super busy on a Friday night. We got there around 8:00, and we got the last little table in the building. It was just a tiny cocktail table with a couple of short stools- which several spots around town are doing now. The menu was pretty complicated with long ingredient lists for most of the cocktails. I started with a MaiTai- a classic tiki bar cocktail. It was a gorgeous drink but just okay. For my second cocktail I tried the Fall In Paradise- the headliner cocktail on the menu. It was also just okay. My guest for the poptart cocktail, and it tasted EXACTLY like a cinnamon brown sugar poptart. It was good but super sweet. My larger group was well-accommodated and got great attention from the staff. I was charged a couple dollars more for my drink even accounting for tip, so I was a little thrown off. I visited Tucana Tiki Bar for the first time the other night, it was me & my husband's anniversary & we had a last minute dinner alone without our daughter and ended up checking out this spot. The moment we walked in it was a great vibe, we were greeted by a sweet guy named Andy. We told him we had never been before and we didn't know where to sit, he told us first time sit at the bar, second sit at front by the doors and last sit at the top.. so we followed him to the bar. He gave us a great run down of all the drinks, brought us some water and a yummy bowl of snacks. The music was great, cool decor and we loved all the drink menu names. Andy and the bar tender with him went above and beyond to show us a good time more than any bar I've ever been to. They didn't even know it was our anniversary but it felt like they did from our experience. My husband liked the shark cup but it was from an out of season drink so Andy brought him the shark cup with a sparkler in it, such a great added touch. 10/10 from my experience.
