Not the most friendly place, each time I have been in. Guy who filled my growler this last time did not acknowledge me for at least 5 minutes. He didn't care to help me, short with me also. Grumpy old guy. Also, the last 3 times m growler price has been a different price each time. Same beer each time, same size growler. $21.00 ($12.00 on previous visit) on this last visit Sunday 04/19, too much to pay for grumpy poor service. This place has such great potential, unfortunately every beer that I had was warm. Often, I opt for a refrigerated option, but those were not as cold as I would've liked either. I hesitate to say too much here, because ya'll might all come and crowd the place up ..but what the heck props are earned. Best way to describe the Filling Station is a giant living room, all your friends and neighbors present, your favorite dog running around, and 21 beer and 6 cider taps flowing. It is a local place where you will easily know everyone's name before you go, if you want to. Or there are some cool side rooms if you wanna do you your own thing. Service and ambiance is fine. The food we've had was on soup day and that was fun. Beer variety good but beer temp needs to be colder. Warm beer just doesn't hit the spot. Been there twice and both times the beers were warmer than beer should be. read more

Update** I hadn't even ordered the keg until Thursday when I was told you happened to have a keg of coors in your fridge available so delivery wasn't the issue, I only canceled my order elsewhere because I was told you HAD one there available to me and I wasn't offered anything other then pub beer which the groom doesn't like! Ordered a keg for my daughters wedding tomorrow showed up to pick it up and someone decided to ASSUME we were some previous no show and sell our keg without even calling us and offer a less quality beer. I would have happily prepaid and showed ID to prove I wasn't this no show with the decency of a phone call! Created a major hassle for us less then 24hrs before our daughters wedding WOULD NOt recommend for keg rental! read more

It's okay to have a server who is not familiar with cider or who does not give good service from time to time; however, my server showed exceptional service to the person in front of me (who was very high maintenance), and then barely acknowledged me after a lengthy wait. No apologies or acknowledgement for my standing around for 10 minutes. Very little help regarding the cider offerings + no offer to sample + barely a "thank you" when I chose to fill my growler with something I am not familiar with. GRRRR! This is sad, because River Road is in DIRE need of good dining and brew establishments. I will not go back. I recommend that my River Road neighbors go downtown to Growler Guys or to Tap and Growler. Or, head up to the Delta exit for Steel Pail. Filling Station, your server's complete lack of desire to graciously serve and her careless disinterest regarding your cider offerings today (Saturday, June 6) was attrocious. read more

The Filling Station is my favorite place to grab great beer. I stopped in because I live so close, but I came back because of the casual atmosphere and great prices. The owner is willing to chat while he pours you a beer or fills your growler. They have tons of beer, cider, wine and soda to sample or take home. I had emailed The Filling Station asking for pricing and advise on kegs and kegerators for our wedding. Tony Cross (the owner from what I'm told) responded right away and we were in contact throughout the three months leading up to my wedding. I thought everything was squared away and set up, I wasn't worried about it. I had confirmed with Tony that we could pick up the kegerator and our two kegs anytime after 11 am on Friday (the day before the wedding). I had already given him my payment information and filled out the rental paperwork which listed on it the exact items we were picking up. When my now husband and my father arrived to pick up our equipment, the employees working had no idea we had an order in. They said Tony had specifically told them there weren't any pick ups for the day, and that nothing was set aside for us. Tony had gone out of town for the weekend and we were not able to contact him. Luckily the employees were able to find the kegs we needed. The kegerator they rent out was already gone, but they dug one out of a storage closet for us. Once we got to the venue on Saturday we realized that the kegerator we had wasn't big enough to hold the kegs we had purchased. We called The Filling Station to ask for help. The employees felt really bad for us, so one of them came out with his friends (who are not employed for the company) to bring us a different kegerator and hook everything up. Luckily this worked and we were able to move on from this situation. I am extremely grateful that the employees were so willing to help. This was not their mistake, but they felt bad so they did what they could. Getting friends to help out was above and beyond and I understand how much effort they put in. I see this as a nice gesture from person to person, as opposed to anything customer service related. That being said, Tony provided terrible service. We ended up having to use a 'Redneck Kegerator' which is an ugly trashcan with a tap in the top of it. I appreciate that some people like that look, but we do not, if we did then we would've rented it in the first place. My husband and I were in Maui when Tony returned from his days off, so my father went in to speak to him in my place. My father approached the situation calmly but expressed our frustrations. Tony told us the mix up was our fault, meaning my fault, but was unable to provide his reasoning. I have all of the emails to back up our conversations, and I would be wiling to admit if I was at fault, but I assure you, I am not. I even reviewed the emails once we got home to make sure I didn't miss anything. Tony said that his employees saved the day and was unwilling to admit any fault or take any money off the cost of the services. All he did was refund the price difference between the kegerator we had asked for and the trash can kegerator we had received. I ended up paying him almost $400 and he wouldn't give us any money off or gift certificates, or even just an apology. He even went on to insult our venue (which was beautiful) and state that he had "been out there, and the kegs are just sitting in the dirt". He has zero idea what he is talking about, and I'm disappointed that he turned to insults instead of just admitting his mistake. I've worked with the public for years, and I never expect anyone to kiss up to me or do anything ridiculous in the name of customer service. I just want people to be honest and polite, that's all I ask for. I will say that I was blown away that Tony was acting like a child. The Filling Station will not receive another single cent of our hard-earned money. Since we just got married, I have a ton of people asking me what vendors I used for different things. I make sure to tell them this story and caution against any interaction with The Filling Station. read more

I rented the table top bar for a backyard BBQ. It was the hit of the party! We had four different beers on tap which was equivalent to a pony keg. Doing that allowed us to have variety, opposed to just getting a pony keg of one beer that you hope everyone likes. Two days before the party we went in to taste beers and narrow down the HUGE selection to just four. Tony, the owner, was amazing and patient with us. He had great suggestions and let us taste as many as we wanted to make our selection. Tony built the table top bar himself with the CO2 included. It's quite impressive. A little heavy, but with two strong people's help we had no problem getting it in and out of the back seat of my Corolla. Tony even has a system to keep the beer ice cold all day long. Our daughter recently graduated from U of O and we were planning a back yard celebration for her at some friends' house (we live a few hours away). The size of the party kept changing over the course of a week from the original estimate of few people. Tony was so flexible, and he made several helpful suggestions, including what we should and shouldn't serve, how much we needed for the type of party we were having, and the types of serving equipment would best suit our needs. He even offered to come in before they opened the day of the party so we could pick it up when we got into town. We ultimately ended up deciding on a different route due to several factors, none of which involved Tony or the Filling Station, and I felt very badly as he had spent a lot of time helping us. GREAT customer service. And I haven't even mentioned their tap list! Check it out, and they have several excellent ciders from which to choose as well. I wish we lived closer, I love me a good growler fill and we'd be there often. read more

River Road's first snazzy growler fill/brew place! At least that I've noticed. Large selection of growlers. All beer priced well and clearly numbered on a big fancy chalk board. TV, darts, but not a typical bar feel. And that's a good thing. Owner is always in, and there are food trucks on weekends. Only downer is no minors at any time. Great place! As a recent transplant to Eugene, and Oregon, I have found The Filling Station to be exceptional! They offer samples, as many as needed to find the perfect beer, and offer advice if you are unsure. I am not a big IPA fan, and they have many options to fit my wants. The owner has also been very helpful in offering suggestions about ways to supplement our future home bar, as far as taking us into his back room to show us he can supplement products we buy from other retailers. Relaxed and friendly and always has the feeling of visiting family. Maybe for some of you this is a bad thing so realize there's alcohol involved and that solves almost every bad family holiday interaction...or creates it...look the POINT of this post is people are down to earth and chill here. Pros: very clean, the lady we had pouring beer was pleasant and knew her stuff, decent selection, free samples, A/C worked well, nice prices. Great place and much needed in the Santa Clara area. The owner and all of the employees are genuinely friendly people. They have a large selection of beer and cider on tap. They have several wines available as well, although I haven't ever sampled any of their stock. It's a small place, but it is comfortable. Our (only) neighborhood watering hole worth going to (sorry Shooters, you didn't make the cut). Tony is very kind and always has a great selection on tap. Prices are great. The only change I'd love to see is maybe a couch or two (something softer to sit in than wooden chairs, maybe around the corner in the back of the pub?) with some softer lighting. It's nice to settle in and get cozy for a beer or three, and small changes to the ambiance would be great for that. read more
