We couldn't be more impressed with Monica! We adopted a 2 year old golden doodle, Max, who has anxiety that presents around people and makes it difficult for us to host. He's a barker and lacks basic manners. We also have a baby and want to ensure safety between the baby and dog. Max went to board and train with Monica and came back a completely different dog! Monica has now trained a second puppy for me! This time, I knew that the earlier I got him to her, the better. Vilky went to Monica when he was eight weeks old, and stayed with her for four weeks. Monica at the Fine Canine School did not disappoint as she worked with our new rescue, Daniel, to teach him who is boss while at the same time showing him love. Daniel is a 2 year old headstrong, determined, intelligent Husky, Akita and genuine mutt mix. Found living under a bridge on the highway, he came to us with a huge amount of separation anxiety and lack of any good dog manners. Daniel attended the 28 day training program and Monica proved what an expert she is in dog behavior. He was not easy to work with and Monica never gave up. She has a unique understanding of dogs and the patience and skills to work with a difficult student. I also appreciated how often she communicated with me about his progress. Daniel came home healthy and happy knowing how to follow commands and aware of the rules. He also has made good progress in accepting the crate as a safe space for him. Additionally, I have learned from Monica how to continue to reinforce the training at home. She offered invaluable advice and insight about my dog's behavior and answered all of my questions and addressed my many concerns in a professional and sincere manner. I have had plenty of dogs in my past and was able to train them effectively on my own. But when I decided to get a new puppy, I wanted to spend the money to get him/her started off right. I got my mini golden-doodle puppy at the end of May, and sent Henry with Monica immediately for 4 weeks of puppy boot camp. It was worth every penny and I'm so glad I did it. He has been home with me for nearly a month and is an outstanding puppy. The immediate training and exposure to so many things has made him a very calm dog (July 4th and the severe storms don't even phase him). He is great with the groomers and it has been very easy to develop more skills because he had the basics down. He is also a very quick learner (it took him two tries to figure out how to ring the bells to go potty and he has only had one mess inside). We still train for about 30 minutes every day, but he comes every time he is called, knows sit and down, can stay while I walk away (as long as I am in sight), heels beautifully (walks 30 minutes straight on a heel) and knows how to play fetch at almost 4 months of age. All because Monica gave him the best head start. Don't get me wrong...he is still a puppy and he requires exercise and energy expenditure for sure!! The only thing that Henry struggles with still his is crate, but I've had enough dogs to know that sometimes it just takes a while for them to love it.
