My sister took her dog there for a groom and she turned out great! I took my dog there for doggie day care to try to get her used to being around other people and dogs. I didn't even get out of the parking lot and they called me back to take my dog. Couldn't handle her. Took my dog somewhere else and she did great. Staff needs to be trained on all types of dogs. read more

We have been using the doggie playhouse for mostly grooming for about 3 years. Wayleen does a great job grooming my spunky goldendoodle. The cut is always very consistent and she looks great. I've been bringing my dog Ozzy here for the past 4 years and most recently our dog Raven. Truly their home away from home. Jeff the owner has the biggest heart and all the staff are amazing! Sheila is like Ozzy 2nd mom. They do photo shoots for Christmas and always post on social media. Cage free boarding is great so you don't have to worry about your dog being in a kennel for 22 hours a day. One employee stays onsite all night so the dogs are never left alone. They temp check all dogs so everyone there gets along. It's always hilarious to see 20 dogs or more all running around in the big room having fun together. I can't say enough how grateful I am for this place and have recommended a number of people here for daycare and boarding. We have been coming here for almost 2 years and could NOT be happier. We live in Des Plaines and drive all the way to Palatine every Saturday to drop our pup off. We love bringing her here since we both work full time during the week and this is a great way for her to stay active and social with other dogs. The best part is that the dogs aren't crated, they roam free rooms and the outside! I HIGHLY recommend trying them out, I actually think our dog likes the staff more than me! Where do I start? I've got so many great people to thank! Quick background: My poor little puppy has had her quick (vein in the claw) cut twice -by Veterinarians. It's an extremely painful experience and so she's understandably traumatized. Needless to say, she won't allow ANYONE near her claws. Most groomers are closed, due to Covid 19. My sister recommended The Original Dog Barber. I spoke with Chris and he couldn't have been more helpful. He was booked until June 2nd, but he recommended The Doggy Playhouse. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly kind and helpful. I explained the situation to Christina and she assured me that one of their star groomers, Weiling, was an expert in this area. On another call, I spoke with Jeff and he was wonderful. We were able to get in and out quickly and my little Angel has nice neat short claws. Thank you to all! read more

This place should not be in business! My honest mistake turned into my nightmare. My original reservation was with Jiminy Clippers..literally a few doors down. I walked into this place thinking this is where my appointment was. They took my dog even though they knew I didn't have an appointment with them. I dropped him off at 9AM and said he'd be done by 12pm. I returned home from a phone call from my husband asking me where I dropped our dog off because Jiminy Clippers called and asked if our dog was coming in for his 9AM appointment. After pure shock, of where did I just drop my dog off too? I called Doggie Playhouse and Jeff, the owner, stated they were getting ready to start our dog. So I just said well no problem it's fine. Well I called at 11am and spoke to Jeff again and asked when our dog would be done. I had to have my father pick him up because I couldn't and wouldn't bring my newborn in to Doggie Playhouse to pick up my dog. Jeff stated that my dog would be done at 3pm! 3pm? I dropped him off at 9AM. I never had my dog take that long. 2.5 hours Max! Well fast forward, father picked up my dog, and brought him home. Saturday Morning he was walking up the stairs in front of me and I shrieked when I noticed the back of his butt area! What did they do?! Look at my golden's hair cut from this terrible groomer (picture added). Instead of brushing and working out his knots, which Golden's tend to get the decided to take the clippers and just butcher his hair. I am frequent customer of Kriser's Groomers and the price might be a little higher but they have NEVER treated my golden like this place did! Your pictures and advertisement are so false. Your facility is dirty. Do not bring your dog here for grooming!!! I will be reaching out to Jeff on Monday morning. read more

Jeff and his team are great. Beau has been doing daycare and boarding since he was a puppy. It is all about the care for the dogs. When boarding, someone is there overnight to watch the dogs and the dogs are allowed to sleep in the playroom if they are compatible with the other dogs. If they need privacy or need to eat, they go into a private room. No crates. Also, one of the few places that can groom a Golden Doodle!!! read more

The staff is so incredibly kind and accommodating and treat my dog like their own. I have tried several other dog daycares in Palatine, and I truly feel that Doggie Playhouse cares the most about the dogs. Jeff the owner is outstanding and truly a nice guy. At one other local place my dog constantly came home smelling like throw up, and it was not clean at all. Also my dog got very sick from the daycare and it cost over $1,000 to take care of her. At another local daycare, I am pretty sure she sat in a cage all day, because when I picked up at 3:00 she was in a cage, and soaked in urine which was odd, and that was after being in a cage over a lunch break. I frequently send my dog to Doggie Playhouse for daycare and boarding and so far we are happy. read more

I don't know how this place gets any positive reviews. Upon walking in, it is like a run down abandoned building, with boxes and items stacked and piled everywhere. You are immediately hit with the nauseating smell of air fresheners and multiple candles burning, but you can still smell dog feces and other negative smells. There were 6 small dogs behind the register, all lounging on filthy, broken furniture. There appeared to be 1 person watching over 20 dogs. All of whom were running and barking with no toys in a room too small for the amount of animals. I didn't even stay, I walked out. I'd NEVER leave my pet here. read more

Little John isn't the friendliest dog and and is easily scared so I was nervous about bringing him him to a new spot. They did an awesome job. I walked in to get some informations about them since we are looking for a daycare place for our puppy. I was impressed by the reviews and pictures so I wanted to check it out myself before leaving my pup here.... When I first walked in I thought I'm at the wrong place. It doesn't look AT ALL like the pics. It might have at one point, but that has to be long ago. The nice sitting area on the pics is now a blanketcovered something with a stained chair next to it. Absolutley disgusting. The whole entrance area is dusty and dirty, spider webs in the corners. Even on a dry 'fragrance dispenser' are dustballs! They have a picture collage which is all bleached out from the sun. Probably also sittling there since years. The window where you can see one group of dogs is covered with slubber and handprints. I am giving them 2 stars because I can't tell about the quality of daycare, since we didn't try. They are getting the benefits of doubt. But I just can't imagine that a place which is that gross in the front area is gonna be any better in the back. Just can't leave my puppy here and feel good about it..... read more

I have a REALLY hard time leaving my pup with anyone. He is a goldendoodle and has a very tender, sweet, personality and gets easily worried if he doesn't understand what's going on. Obviously dogs can't talk so I don't EXACTLY know how much he loves it (ha!) but he is always excited to go and doesn't act nervous or scared or anything. He is always super tired when he comes home which generally means he got some great play time! What is also great about this place is they DON'T HAVE CAGES. The dogs are either outside or in a large room with "dog sitters." I rarely hear barking when I pull up or go in, which tells me everyone is happy.
