PERFECT! no probs.. Decided to try this place again after 4 years (last review on google) and what a mistake. Ordered off door dash (3pc fish, 6 LARGE shrimp and 1 side) for $18.00. I included a pic of one of the supposedly LARGE shrimp next to a package of tartar sauce. Suppose to be 3 pieces of fish and got ONE small / thin piece of fish cut into nuggets, old and dry as hell. I've been wanting to come here for quite some time. Since leaving San Diego, I miss having a larger variety of meals... let's face it... Hemet is not known for its ethnic food. I came and was immediately greeted. The server was speaking to a child wishing them happy birthday, and a young man emerged and offered the child a piece of cake. How sweet is that? I loved it. This review will be factual to me... so forgive me to the owners "if" I am incorrect. I ordered two fish plates to go, a 5 piece whiting and a 5 piece red snapper. I asked the sweet young lady if the potato salad was made there and she assured me it was. I don't believe it was. My first clue was .. I know the taste of store bought potato salad. I am not saying it was bad.. I am just saying it was store bought and then they added shredded carrots into it. Very unique. I was also told the greens were fresh and made there. That is also incorrect. I know canned greens when I taste them. I grow my own so I 100% know the difference. Again, the were not bad, just not fresh leaves. I love the turkey they added into it for flavor though. The Mac N Cheese was actually really good because I liked the cheese they use. I did enjoy my meal, it just wasn't the "I feel homesick and don't feel like cooking myself" taste. The fish though! The fish was delicious! That lil baby in the back did her thing. The service was my favorite part of coming here. It was so sweet how they treated that little girl. I could feel the love from the 3 that I interacted with. New to the area and was referred by a man who we met at another local seafood restaurant. My husband and I are truly disappointed with the food overall at The Fish Hut Market. My husband and I ordered the sampler and the shrimp seafood boil. The fish tasted like it was friend in old grease, the sampler was a very small portion and the alligator bites were burnt. The seafood boil was a 2/10. The best part of the boil was the corn. The sauce was flavorless and the potatoes were rubbery. The location was hard to find as the sign outside is warn and you can only read "hut" and even that is faded. The server was friendly but the overall experience was not pleasant. read more

It's always a gamble with the quality and overall service with this place. Ordered from DoorDash and my order of smothered pork chops wasn't correct, nor did the meal come with rice as indicated. I ordered Mac and cheese and the yams for the sides and they gave me two yams. The yams are ok but certainly not good enough to replace Mac and cheese. First visit to The Fish Hut Market after a friend suggested it. There is no street parking in front so you park behind the restaurant in a small area shared with a Mexican restaurant next door. Fairly small customer area upon entry with only 3 or 4 tables and chairs. Seemed like take-out orders dominated versus dine-in. You place your order at the counter with most everything freshly cooked to order. The friendly hostess made some recommendations for first-time visitors which we appreciated. We ordered combination meals of both red snapper and catfish with a basket of alligator nuggets to share. My catfish came out nice and hot with a delicious, not too heavy batter. Very good! Likewise the red snapper was perfect in every way. The alligator nuggets were tasty and the batter was nicely spiced although it was applied too thick and heavy taking away from the gator flavor itself. Being very familiar with the type of food there were some things I liked and some I didn't. I tried their sampler platter as I figured it would give me the best overview of their dishes. 2 pieces of fish, 2 oysters, 2 shrimp, and 2 alligator with fries. The fish and the oysters were perfectly done which is a bit of a surprise as I have had many overcooked oysters in a lot of these types of places. However the shrimp was overcooked and the alligator was rubbery. The fries were well done. They use a very spicy Cajun seasoning that I found quite enjoyable. This is just a small place and you order at the counter then take your food to go or sit at one of the tables they have. Nothing fancy, but well kept and clean. Started this review long ago, surprised I didn't finish but I'll share what I started... I'm rooting for this place. The customer service is great. Family-owned business. I don't live in Hemet but drove out there from Lake Elsinore to try it out. I got the fried catfish and fried shrimp. Fried shrimp was amazing. One thing that bothered me about the catfish was that the breading, the fried part just fell off. This was from a few year's ago, things may have improved. I visited this place a couple years ago and I didn't really like the flavor of the food... I didn't hate it, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Fast forward to July 1st, I decided to go back because I bought a Groupon for them and I'm glad I did! The food has much more flavor than before. I ordered the catfish and shrimp family meal along with 2 boils. I added potato salad and Mac n cheese as well. Also got some banana pudding! The fish and shrimp were great: seasoned well and very tender (not over cooked). The Mac n cheese was delicious and had the right cheese('s) there. The seafood boils were good, I just wish garlic was added to the sauce. I only got the taste of seasoned butter. The Cajun fries were nice! And my favorite of all had to be the potato salad! Very reminiscent of the way my mom and grandmother used to make it. The banana pudding was amazing and I'd buy it again and again! I'll be coming back (and not just cause of Groupon haha) because I really enjoyed the food. Nice to have a fish joint in the neighborhood and not have to drive all the way to la for it. From the young man that took my order, to the young guy that cooked my food and politely explained to me that my food would be out soon, and to the young lady that was cleaning up during closing (yes, they were all young, at least in my eyes... I'm old lol). It's not often you're around respectful and kind young people nowadays, so I truly appreciate how they all were. I came back, expecting my order to be ready it wasn't. I was told that it would take time. The potatoes needed to be cooked, then 30 minutes the corn needed to be cooked mind you this is one hour of waiting and all I got was a free water. 4. You see other orders going out. I left after one hour and thirty minutes. I asked what was going on and was told it takes time. I asked for a refund. As of today I was never refunded any money from THE FISH HUT. This place is fantastic. Fish is awesome and they have a huge menu with southern classics (crawfish, whiting, snapper, catfish, front legs). Fish is served nice and hot and should still be warm if you are coming from out of the neighboring towns. The owners are super sweet and nice. So upset with myself for not stopping to try this place sooner. No more driving to Moreno Valley, Perris, or even worse Pomona to get some great fried fish cooked fresh by the pound.
