Highly recommend the fried catfish meal, sub the bbq baked beans in place of the white beans! The breading and seasoning is amazing. The hushpuppies are really really good when they're not a smidge burnt. We also love the meat lovers pizza--the cheese is on top of the toppings and they're generous with the cheese! It's a yummy thin crust crispy pizza. The burger and cheese curds are also a great choice! Personally didn't care for the Philly cheesesteak as I thought it was a bit too salty. The staff is friendly and they're always busy when they're open. e've been visiting this restaurant for years, as we are frequent visitors to the area. We've had a good experience until today when the quality of our To-Go order was poor - specifically, the kid's burger was charred beyond the point of being edible. I posted a comment on their Facebook page that said "y'all, your food quality is going down hill" with a picture of the burger. Instead of management responding with "how can we make it right?", the owner and her social followers proceeded to blast me as "hiding behind social media" and not saying something to "their faces". Unfortunately, I wish we would have inspected our To-Go order before leaving, as we definitely would have requested a new one. We didn't discover it until we were miles away. Love this small restaurant down near Lake Barkley. I have family that lives lake front and they swear by this place so naturally I have had the privilege to eat there on a few occasions. Was back in town at our cottage for the weekend and this was the first place we stopped. It's been a while since we've been and the first time since the new owners took over. Still is my favorite place in all of Cadiz to get a meal. Service was very good and the food was just as good as I remember. There was a few changes to the menu but all of my favorites were still there. I travel quite a bit and visit small towns in those trips and when I compare The Fishin Hole in comparison to local places I go in other small towns, this still has to be one of the best. My only complaint would be my wife had a bottle of water with her and they made her take it out as they don't allow outside foods or beverage. Water is free, and that's all she drinks so I thought that was a little odd. I could see if she walked in with a coke or other beverage but water? Guess what we all ordered with our meal, water. I would would of ordered a Ice Tea but that was my little way of protesting making my wife take her water bottle back to the car. Not going to stop coming here due to that but should really reconsider making a customer take a water bottle out. In all the years and places I've gone, this is the first place to ever tell my wife she couldn't bring in her water bottle. read more

A hidden jewel near Barkley Lake. While camping, we chanced by The Fishing Hole. Two meals later and ice cream to die for, we are hooked. I must mention the large servings and friendly atmosphere. We shall return to the area again. Grill fish and Reuben sandwiches were my selections. Second trip surprise! It's a boy for the owners. We loved this place! Stopped in 2 years ago for ice cream during our last trip to Prizer Point. When we came back to Prizer Point this weekend, we could wait to go to The Fishin Hole again! During this trip we went there 3 times in 2 days! Everyone in my family loved their food and the ice cream was so good too. Patty melts were so delicious. The best part was the service! All the waitresses were so friendly and attentive and they all checked on us multiple times. The prices were decent too. After reading the other reviews, I really wanted to like this place, but the truth is that the area is lacking in restaurant options and that's probably the only reason for the other five star reviews. It was the closest place to eat from our campsite at Hurricane Creek and the first time that we ate lunch here, we didn't save room for dessert but were enticed back that night for our after dinner dessert. Here's the run down... I ordered a salad and chose fried chicken. It came out with what seemed like a frozen chicken pattie, you know like the ones that we used to get at school... Anyways, I ate it. Another strange thing that I didn't like was that at the bottom of the salad was garnishment greens, which seemed to make the salad bigger than it actually was. Also, the ranch dressing was horrible. I'm a huge ranch dressing fan, so I thought I'd add that tid bit that probably made you roll your eyes. My husband got a burger that he raved about, which was strange considering that he ordered it well done and it came out pink. He ate it and loved it, but it wasn't the way he ordered it. The tea tasted old and later I noticed that there were several pre made pitchers of it at the counter, so I think that they make it all at once. I think that shouldn't be left out very long, especially not chilled. I could throw in a few more complaints, but I'm practically rolling my eyes at myself at this point. Lastly, I'll stop at dessert. I ordered the brownie ice cream sandwich. It was huge, but I didn't like that fact that the brownie was frozen. SO GOOD! Wow. My first reaction was that this restaurant was easily one of the cleanest I've ever been in. All of the servers were so friendly. The service was very quick; even on a busy Friday evening our appetizers came almost immediately. Our meals were all incredibly tasty even though none of us were able to clean our plates. I love the Fishin Hole! It is my go-to spot when I'm at the lake and the pack that it's less than a mile from my grandpa's lake house is the icing on the cake! I consider this pretty typical and on-par tavern food. Otherwise known as good and fried. And the prices are so inexpensive for what you get! Their fried okra and pickles are delicious, definitely a must order for the table as a starter... it's only a few bucks and you get MORE than you expect for that couple bucks! I've had a few of the sandwiches and pizzas. All are good, never had any order wrong or burnt. The service is usually really good. Sometimes when it gets busy they may only have one waitress and it gets a little slow and backed up, but they are good about making sure your order is right and keeping your drinks filled. The best part about this place is when the evening hits, you get back from the lake on a hot day and you need a yummy treat to cool you down.... their ice cream is DELICIOUS and exactly what the doctor ordered!!! I give this place 5 stars not because it's the best place I've ever been or they have the most amazing service or food, but because it top notch and everything you would want and expect in a little lake hole in the wall... so get down to the Fishin Hole NOW! read more

Do not order the Fried Cod! My family was in town from Northern Illinois and we stopped in to try the local fish fry. In the north Cod is the typical Friday Night fish fry special. Unfortunately in the South Catfish is the typical fried fish. Not knowing this we ordered Cod as usual and we were in for a real let down upon getting our food. Upon our plates was what looked like a McDonalds Fish Filet or a frozen fish filet that you would find in the freezer section, completely square and all. We came here for breakfast while in Kentucky closing on a house. The food was excellent, the people were extremely kind and friendly, and the prices were great! The eggs were cooked to perfection, the biscuits and gravy, sausage, and bacon were delicious, and the kids loved the pancakes. And I need to add, as a sort of coffee snob myself, their coffee was seriously some of the best I've ever had. Our bachelorette caravan was headed down to Nashville when we decided to scoop out Yelp to find a place to eat off one of the exits...and that's how we found The Fishin Hole! We found outside seating, which was great with the weather, and settled in. It took some time to get service over at our table but we found out in the end a few of the workers were sick and they were running short handed. The ones that did serve us were extremely nice, and talkative. Once we all ordered, we got our drinks and settled in to enjoy the evening. The menu was huge! The prices were inexpensive as well and you get a lot for the money. There were 5 of us and we each ordered something different but shared items with each other as they all looked amazing. I got the grilled cheese and it seriously just hit the spot, along with their fries. Their dessert specialty is ice cream however we were too full from dinner to make it to that point but I saw lots of others enjoying every bite of it. My wife and I eat here every summer when visiting her family and this is by far my favorite restaurant in the Cadiz area. Everything we have tried here has been excellent, but their burgers and fries are my favorite I've eaten anywhere! The service is always great, even when they are very busy, and the family that owns the restaurant always goes out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
