I had a dress come in the mail last minute for a wedding I have to attend. Dress showed up Thursday, today is Friday, and the wedding is Saturday. The dress showed up with a rip and some very loose, running thread. Very worried that I would rip it more as I was wearing it (the dress has that very sexy slit up the leg) I really needed to get it patched up. I called this little shop around 10am and they said they could definitely squeeze me in for a last minute job, I just have to drop off today, which was more than doable. I get there, and they're already super friendly and energetic and just so welcoming and personable, and I show the tailor my dress and he exclaims, "oh my gosh, I could do this in a minute. You can leave with this. Hold on." He walks to his sewing machine not even 8 feet away, sews it up and even double stitches the loose parts for me, as I'm paying, and is done before I even got a chance to relax on their couch. Even if it was the easiest fix ever for him, I loved how willing and accommodating he was to just get my little project out of the way and send me home with all my loose ends tied. I loved it. So we had originally had a good experience adter the owner staydd late to alter my hubbys hugo boss tux for a event. Then months later I returned with a very expensive and complicated gown that I needed extensive alterations on for a black tie event. I payed a hefty fee in advance to have the dress ready by the following saturday. When i came in to pick it up hours before the event, (and in full hair and makeup) and the dress hadnt been started yet! They had put it in the pile to be ready for a week later! I sat there fo an hour and a half sweating my proff. makeup job off anxiously waiting for the dress. I'm a hard man to fit when it comes to clothes. Between having a beer gut that only June Shannon can eclipse, having no ass that anyone can seem to find, and being long in the arm and short in the leg, fitting me is a hell of a challenge. As such, I have to get a lot of my clothes these days custom tailored. I found The Fit on Yelp when I punched in "tailors" into the search. it didn't come up first as Yelp is a bit screwey that way, even though it was closest to my house. Drove over, got fitted. Had a 3 piece suit that needed to be butchered and put back together for my brother's wedding. Ever try to fit a vest over a large belly? Its super fun! But the folk at The Fit got me dialed. And did it in an ingenious manner. They took the extra fabric from the legs of my pants, stitched it into the sides of the vest where the fabric meets the silk, and had it looking like it was factory made that way. That's skill. Plain and simple. This place wasn't cheap, it was $118 for a full rebuild on the vest and pants and shortening the arms on the jacket. That might seem like a lot, but for a fit as nice as they gave me on this suit, it was worth every penny. I'd recommend this place to anyone who needs custom fit clothing and who is tough to fit. read more

Ok, this is long over due. I found Dennis at the Fit Alterations last year on Yelp. I took a few pair of pants and some shorts to have taken in and hemmed up. I'm a runner with a small waist so it's hard to find men's pants in a size 28 waist. He did a perfect job. My partner says that the pants look like they were made especially for me. I've taken most of my pants there since, recently I took a suite in, he not only made the pants fit perfectly but he hemmed up the cuffs on the sleeves to the jacket and with a one day turn around so that we could catch a flight to FL for a wedding. I've always had a hard time finding pants in my size, but now I dont' worry about it. I buy close to my size and Dennis does the rest! And you can't beat the price! read more

I have found my new tailor! For starters, Randall and Dennis offered to stay after they closed because I couldn't leave work until 5:30 so I could come in and have them pin some work shirts for me. Dennis is chatty and funny and I love that. That same day the hem on my pants (that someone else had done and overcharged me for) came undone and he offered to fix it before I left for their first time hem price of $7. Where do I begin, Dennis is a master tailor. The quality of workmanship on my clothes is stellar. I am 5'7 with narrow hips, almost all of my dresses need to be taken in from the waist down. I have never been able to wear anything straight off the rack. Not once have I ever been disappointed in their work. I moved here from Newport Beach, CA last year. I never thought I would be able to find someone in AZ who could custom fit every seam to my very tiny body. So I had high hopes going into this place because of the Yelp reviews. Most of my frustrations came from the fact that I had to make three trips here before my skirt was altered correctly. First time I went in, the owner didn't even ask me try the skirt on (perhaps my mistake) and asked me many inches I needed added, we estimated and I dropped it off. I came back two weeks later, it still didn't fit. He agreed to split the cost with me to add in more fabric but it cost me $50 (almost the value of the skirt) just to get it to fit.
