I can't say anything that isn't a superlative. I love this gym. I've had personal training at several others the past and there is NO comparison. This is a full body workout but tailored to every person there. Delane, the manager, is probably the sincerest, kind, loveliest person you can imagine. She is very caring with regard to any injuries or needs as well as our lives, gives individual attention, and ensures that everyone knows everyone else in the session every time. There is so much to love about The Fitter Female, starting with the level of focused personalized training they give their members. Each class has only 6 members (occasionally 7), which enables the trainers to really get to know the members and their strengths and weaknesses. If you have an injury one week, the trainers will change your workout to accommodate your limits while still giving you a full body workout that will keep you challenged and getting fitter by the day. Always professional and knowledgeable, the trainers set the bar based on each individual's current fitness level taking their goals into consideration. In the past 5 months my body fat percentage has dropped considerably, my muscle mass has increased and I have consistently lost weight. Most importantly, I feel wonderful! I began Fitter Female in Acton on a 3 week trial almost a year ago. When I found out the actual cost per month, I figured I would do the trial and be done. After 3 weeks of 3 times per week, I realized I was walking better than I had in 15 years. So then I figured: if I have to spend $3000 a year to have mobility as I age (I am 72 years old), then so be it. I love the classes---I actually look forward to working hard for an hour 2 times a week. My core strength is greatly improved. I always leave feeling like I got a heckof a good workout. My posture has improved (Dave is focused on posture---thanks Dave!). And I have a 20 minute drive---and even that is not a deterrent to my being there. I highly recommend FF for anyone hoping to get back in shape, stay in shape or recover from an injury. I have been a runner for most of my life and suddenly my knees started failing me. I was told to see a trainer 3x a week or just resort to walking. I looked into trainers, but was dismayed by the cost (200$/hour). FF provides the same level of training, but for one monthly fee that is almost equal to the cost of one hour of personal training. On top of that, the people are lovely. No one screaming at you to push harder, jump higher...just supportive advice to keep pushing yourself. I highly recommend this program. read more

I love The Fitter Female. All of the staff, including Glenn, Delane, and Christian, care sincerely about the people they are training. They put their heart into their work and it shows. Take your money elsewhere. I interviewed with the owner who flat out right told me I was too overweight to be a trainer. I was told to loose about 40 pounds and then come back and we would discuss further a possible position. I'm a certified personal trainer with yes, limited experience but I have a passion for helping others reach their fitness goals. Would you want to train in a facility where the owner is so high on himself he thinks he has the right to body shame a perspective employee? I've run two marathons including Boston this past April along with multiple other distances, but because I don't fit the "model" of fitness he flat out said he could not hire me. Is that the type of establishment you want to be trained by? Find another small group training facility. It's not worth to go here on any level. read more

I met with the owner who was also the manager at this location. I was interested in signing up to lose a lot of weight. Here are the pluses: - I do think this man knows that he is talking about. He seemed competent and I learned some things from our short meeting. - The group of women and the trainer all introduced themselves and were really lovely. - In his own way, I think the owner cares about his business and the people he feels he is helping. He is patronizing in the way that he talks about his patrons and women generally, but I think he actually has a good heart. I don't think he is malicious - at least, not trying to be malicious I mean. Here are the negatives: - The man does this hard core sell, then if you waiver, keeps at you and says extremely mean things: 'I shouldn't be begging YOU like I'm a used car salesman. You should be begging me,' while he waves his hands towards my large body OR - 'You know what? I am not going to give you this opportunity EVEN if you still want it. And you WILL. No, you don't get it any more.' OR - 'You don't want this enough. I can tell. Now I realize that you're not ready'). - And then... this is why I'm giving one star... the man went on and said such a mean, horrible fat shaming thing to me that I can't even write it down here, at least right now, because I'm still so ashamed and ashamed that I didn't say anything or leave. I think he did it out of trying to be helpful, in his own way. In any event, the things he said were cruel and put me way way back in trying to care for myself and probably no one has said such hurtful things to me about my body. After I left the gym, I felt numb. When I returned home, I curled up on my bed and cried and couldn't get up. I didn't want to tell anyone what he said to me. I was so ashamed. I finally - thankfully - posted on a national Facebook group I'm on and said what the man said to me and how I felt ashamed and angry at myself for accepting it. People could not believe what this man said. They were enraged and demanded his name and business. I decided not to give it to them. They all agreed that it was off the wall. I received more responses than I was able to read. So.... if you are thin and fit and can overlook or withstand negative things said by this man, the owner, about patrons who need to lose weight or get stronger, it's probably technically a place where you can probably get stronger. Otherwise, it's not a good fit. I would not be able to lose weight in that environment - a strategy he is promoting of trying to prove him wrong, I guess. It might work for some people, and I know about a couple of people who recommend the place, but I will not return. read more

I love going to The Fitter Female. The staff there is great! I've been to a lot of different facilities but none of them have given me the personal attention that I receive at TFF. I chose them because they know what they are talking about and I don't feel like I am wasting my time. Love this place!! They help me figure out what to eat and how to get in shape fast. Already down 20lbs and having fun doing it!

What a wonderful place this is! I was never really an exercise girl but they make it so much fun I am actually starting to love working out. LOL I love having a small group to work with too. I notice it makes me push myself even more. The trainers are great here and the initial assessment they did on me was so informative. I never had a company do so much analysis on my body composition before. LOVE THIS PLACE!! read more
