There are courses built out all over the gym for the kids and they're different every week. They get especially creative around the holidays. They move around the gym to different stations with creative obstacle courses, like climbing along the rungs of a ladder and trying not to fall through the cracks into the swamp with the alligators or hopping over the witches hats on the balance beam! All this really keeps the kids engaged. The teachers are very patient as the little kids aren't usually following all of the directions and they keep the environment fun. Even when my son gets scared of new things, the instructors give the kids the space and support they need to get them motivated to participate. On top of making the classes super fun for the kids, Planet Gymnastics goes above and beyond and recognizes each kid periodically throughout the year with medals, giving them a sense of accomplishment and something to physically bring home for all of their hard work.

Free lock and towells to borrow. state of the art water fountains to fill up a bottle and vending machines if you don't want to leave for a snack. Be warned, its not just students and the older crowds don't like to wear towels in locker rooms. Keep your head up when you walk in. Free for students. Parking available with permit. If you forget your UCard, you get in 2 times a semester (I think, don't quote me on that) with just your ID number. Much better than a $10 gym at home. If you commute, go here before you go home and save the expense.

It is very crowded when some league games are on. Overall it is an excellent and well-maintained place to take a walk and do some sports you like. I figure, if I have to pay the fee anyway I may as well give the place a shot. The Rec Center has a large pool, an indoor track, weight room on the first floor, cardio room on the second. There is also an area right when you walk in where you can sit and study. The cardio area is nice because it has really large windows that let light in. It can get hot if you're in the sunlight for too long, but if you mention it the staff can lower some automatic blinds. The shower/ locker room is clean enough. The initial activation process was a hassle because you have to sign an electronic waiver, but you can only access it after watching a safety video and the ric mobile site is pure trash and does not load properly. The woman working the front desk was nice enough to let me use her work computer to complete the process. All in all the whole place is adequate and if your a student at RIC that wants to work out you should use this space.

It's a beautiful, brand new facility that is clean and has a decent amount of equipment. To highlight key points: - Free weights go up to 100 lbs (in increments of 5 lbs) - 2 squat racks - 5 bench press stations (2 incline, 1 decline, and 2 flat bench) - Indoor pool and track field - Plenty of cardio machines upstairs - Decent amount of machines specific to muscle groups (ex: Lat pull down and seated chest press machines). - Clean locker rooms and bathrooms I only have two complaints. One would be the lack of attachments that go along with the jungle pulleys. There are no straight bars, row bars, or v-handles. That truly deters from having variety in a workout and in a away, takes away from a quality workout as well. Additionally, there aren't any unique machines here. It's pretty standard equipment and nothing out of the ordinary. Secondly, the hours of operation need more consistency. The gym is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 AM, yet every other day of the week (including Friday), they open at 7 AM? Weird. But, it's definitely worth your time to come here. The Rec Center fee per semester is reasonable, and it's such a convenience. I'd recommend this gym to any Rhode Island College student or faculty member, encouraging them to make use of it.

This park is massive, and there are amazing views of the city of Hartford. There is plenty of on-street parking, several fields for games, and just wide, open spaces. I'm looking forward to coming here weekly for my games, and also just to explore, have a picnic, or just to play!

Everyone is required to leave shoes off at the entrance. Weekday prices were reasonable - first child was $10, second child $8, and adult was free. Prices are a little higher on weekends. Free wi-fi is provided, and they have facility space for birthday parties.
