I've used some of the bigger painters in town and I had been wanting to try a smaller business and I figured I'd give these guys a shot for our kitchen cabinets. They seemed like a good option for a bit more affordability, so I figured I'd try them. You get what you pay for. What a mistake. This is the experience I had. We started out totally normal. Their crew of two guys came out on the first day to tape everything off in the kitchen. Totally fine. Only one guy comes the next day so the other can get a deck done on another house. I guess that's how they can keep prices lower. There's a few different things that happened at this phase and we gave them a lot of grace throughout all of it, but the short version is the crew was not up to the task of properly painting cabinets. I did find out later from the owner that he's worked with this guy before for many outdoor jobs and for whatever reason he just expected him to be able to do cabinet work, so that tells you a lot. This was really frustrating and a waste of 2 days of work, but this was clearly just a contractor who didn't know how to paint cabinets. As long as they brought out their A-Team to fix this up, it would've been fine. Their A-Team was able to come out two days later and I did a walk-through with them in the morning. This seemed more like what I was used to and they seemed like a solid crew. I went on a walk and come home to find out that the owner had called them and said that he would not pay the agreed-upon rate and that the crew is leaving. A completely understandable reaction. It took the owner 40 minutes to reach out to me and try and figure out next steps. I was immediately told multiple times that this is a listen conversation, not a talk conversation, which quickly devolved into him saying how much of a champion he's been throughout the entire process and complaining about the labor pool he has to work with. What an absolute mess of a week and headache overall. Don't take the risk with these guys. Use another vendor.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

During the job the crew discovered some bad pieces of siding that needed to be repaired and Pat had me review them on site, sent pictures for my record, and sent updated costs so that I was aware of the impact to the overall project budget. At the end of the job he made sure the crew took care of every item on the punch list to get fixed before asking for final payment. No home improvement job is going to go perfectly but I feel that Earthly Matters delivers a consistent customer experience not just when they are quoting your job, but all the way through to the end. They were usually 2-4 hours late in arrival time. The water heaters were plumbed incorrectly- he used the wrong couplings, tubing and also installed improperly. He turned the pressure up to 160 (60 is the max per professionals). The valve had to be replaced and we paid $1,000 to a master plumber to re - plumb correctly and replace the valve. The ceiling fan was wired backward. They would not return my calls or text when I asked them to come fix it. Very poor quality and customer service.
