Thoroughly disappointed. It's been years since my wife and I last floated. We used to go often in Austin, and we've been searching for a good spot closer to McKinney. The closest option seemed to be The Float Spot in Frisco. After months of talking about it, my wife surprised me with a booking for both of us this weekend for my birthday. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. Our area was under a WeatherCall NextGen alert instructing residents to seek higher ground. The street in front of our house had water flowing like an actual river. I called to explain the situation and see if we could move our appointment. The woman I spoke with, Crystal (who identified herself as the manager), seemed to take satisfaction in telling me we'd still be billed for half the booking. She said other customers were coming in without problems, as though we should risk our safety to do the same. When I asked about escalating to another manager, she repeated that she was the manager and even encouraged me to leave a review, pointing me to the other ones. So here I am. I haven't left a Yelp review in over five years, but this interaction pushed me to do so. We wish there were other float options in the area, because after this experience we'll never use this facility. Wow. I decided to give this a try because a friend said floating was a good post-run experience. She was right! Listen - a lot of the negative reviews are from people who didn't read the rules or felt the rules were suggestions. Book a time? Show up. I came a little early to do paperwork and that was helpful too. You'll shower before floating to remove lotion, deodorant and perfume. You'll also need to remove jewelry. They provide you with ear plugs and everything you need (towel, soap, shampo, etc). Then float away! I chose to have music at the beginning and end as a cue for timeline but floated with the light off and just let my mind go. I don't know if I slept or if I simply lost track of time. All I know is it was the fastest most relaxing hour ever! Afterwards you shower again and can head back to a space with hairdryers and deodorant to prep before leaving. Horrible. Booked and realized we needed a later time. It was late so scheduled to call as soon as they opened. My appt was at 12pm so I called as soon as they opened at 9am (time was 9:04am). Lady said she would have to charge me half because not in their cancellation time (3 hours). I explained it was too late the eve before to call as they were closed and called first thing, 4 min shy of the 3 hour window. She was not only rude but also laughed at me. Then said she would only charge the fee for one of the appts (three of us booked). She charged $25 but then decided to charge an additional $50. Reporting her to credit card company to dispute. She will spend more than $75 dealing with this I assure you. read more

It's hard to describe and takes a bit to get used to floating. I would recommend a 60 Minute float as it takes a while to let go and relax fully. There is a button if you want some lights on or float in darkness. Spa music is optional but good for a first time. The room is private and there is a shower. There is nothing tranquil about this place from the moment you walk through the door. Don't ever go there. My kids gave me a gift card for Christmas because they knew I had always wanted to try getting in a float tank and it was a lot of money for them to spend on a gift. I had been telling my friends for weeks that I was going to use my gift card the day after I got back from a trip. They are all anxiously waiting to hear how my experience was in the float tank. I work 2 full time jobs and have very little down time for any luxuries like this. I arrived for my appointment 30 minutes early since I didn't know what to expect for any paperwork to fill out or any preparation for the treatment. I had booked the Signature package but was told my appointment was the day before and since I was not there, they had charged my credit card the full price of the service. I would never have booked an appointment for the day I was out of town and not due back until 10:00pm that day. I don't know what kind of system they use but obviously it doesn't work. The person at the desk was very cold, uncaring, unsympathetic and just downright rude. He offered no alternative other than to wait an hour and half for the next available appointment. I insisted that the charge on my card be refunded and he said, "why would I do that?" At this point there is no way I could think of trying to have a tranquil experience and my gift card is useless. I asked him to please use the gift card as payment for the wrong appointment and again he said he would not do that. He offered me no other options, no apologies or explanation for the mistake with my appointment. Be wary of the scam that The Float Spot is using on unsuspecting people and seek some tranquil relaxation somewhere else and let me know how it goes, because I guess I will never find out. Do not buy gift certificates here. Although the website where they are offered indicates these can be used for services or merchandise it fails to indicate they refuse to refund if unable to use it. We paid $200 and were unable to use it due to unforeseen circumstances. When requested the company said they would not refund and they had been paid so it would do no good to dispute. Asked further if it was good faith to keep payment for no services rendered the response was that we could give it away. No apology nor any specific basis for non refund though they confirmed being paid. Here's a screenshot of the online page. If it's not refundable they should italicize that as they have the other stipulation for the card. No benefit to gift card and if you do give one, know you've given away your money. This was a really interesting experience. The place is great but I wish there had been more communication once I arrived. I showed up 15 min prior to the appt and as I approached the door someone came out and locked the door. He just said, "they aren't open and drove off". Does that mean open yet or closed for good. Then when someone did open the door I was the first one there. However, the person proceeded to wait on the next 4 or 5 people before helping me. I later assumed they were regulars and knew the drill but the guy working there could have at least explained that. All I was thinking was that the hour I paid for was clicking away. While in the pod I kept thinking about someone stealing my wallet and car keys so I kept checking on them. It wasn't until after the session and I started to leave that I realized there was a lock on the door. I also felt bad because the shower door wouldn't close so there was water all over the floor. Then the quandary of what to do with the towel and do I clean the floor, etc. Will I go back? I don't really know. It wasn't near as relaxing as I expected. No respect for the customer's time. My Appt was for 10:30a, wasn't seen until 10:43. I called yesterday - front desk women was rude answering the phone I asked her what do you guys offer and she gave me some sarcastic answer. Is that how you reply to a potential customer. No customer service skills. I still tried this place today because it looks great. I should have taken the warning and not tried. I get there today at 10:21 for my 1030 appointment. I'm still trying to think how to explain this experience, so forgive the nonsensical words I'm about to write. Relaxed (but not tired), peaceful (not worried about a thing), confused (how did floating in a tub make feel like this), quiet (really quiet mind), thirsty! Totes thirsty!! Bring water with you...you know how salty things makes you thirsty? Try lounging in 11,000 pounds of salt for an hour. I could drink from a fire hose right now. It would be a nice amenity for them to offer cold cucumber water or something but maybe they don't because each person would drink a gallon. The experience--the "pods" are way bigger than I expected. It is kinda science fiction looking and new agey fun. I told myself I could step in and come out 5000 years in the future or some parallel universe like all the DC shows. I didn't have anxiety about the pod being closed because it was so spacious and I left the pretty blue light on so I'd have my bearings if I opened my eyes. I liked the music and wish I had asked for it to be on the whole time. I find it easier to calm my mind with some white noise. Was I calm and settled the whole time? Nope. It took time to settle my breathing and let go. I tried to meditate and think about the universe then I thought about errands and then I realized I was wasting my hour, so I just played around and tried NOT to think. You swirl around, stretch your muscles, bump against the sides and swirl your hair around. It's fun to be weightless, floating and not thinking. So many people have comments like 'transcendent' and 'spiritual'. I don't feel like that but I had my own moment and will do it again! Tips: bring water, bring lotion because your skin will want it. I'll be back!! This was a very cool experience. You literally float in a pod that is filled with epson salt. It's so relaxing!! I went the full mile and did the hydro massage afterwards. I was basically worthless for the next hour. The staff was Super nice and interested in my experience. Relaxing doesn't really come easy to me. I figured I might be doomed trying to relax for a 60 minutes. I saw some claustrophobia in my future (the pod looks small but it's 8 feet long) or blackout and drown....ruining the experience. Luckily, none of these happened. The cleanliness played a Big part in my relaxing success. It was one of the cleanest facilities I have been in. Ever. They provide sulfate free shower products and a small primp area so you can head back into the world. The owner suggested going as late in the afternoon as possible so you can head straight to bed. This is a nice place to float. The owner, Ray is nice, professional, & a friendly person. Not only my family & I float here, but I also recommend this type of therapy to my clients. I am a Massage Therapist, Magnesium is used on my massages often & I find it super helpful. Now, think about floating in over 1K lbs of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate)? If you never tried, you need to give it a try. The list of benefits is looooooooooooong. You can choose music, lights... they provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, towel & they also have a mini "beauty bar" it has combs, hair products, chairs & a hair dryer. Also, a bathroom available on site. I prefer to bring my own hair brush & products, but it is good to know they have those items available. Before & after floating you need to rinse off/shower. It is more enjoyable IF you don't shave right before floating... why? The salt would make your skin burn. Hair dyes.... it is recommended to float only a week or more after so the dye doesn't "contaminate" the water. The water is clean & they have a very efficient filtering system. You do not have to wear a bathing suit or any clothes, unless you feel more comfortable wearing something. If do, then bring an extra set of underwear so you don't stay wet. Awesome for chronic pain sufferers, stressed out people, tight muscles, athletes, jet leg, sleeping deprivation, ADHD, Anxiety, & any person who want to improve their quality of life - naturally. This place was so amazing! Never heard of it before. The lady at check in was very knowledgeable about it all (maybe the owner). Even gave us tips for after and some great smelling hand lotion! My mom and I - both first timers - felt so relaxed after our 30 min float. Took me about 5-8 minutes to get comfortable and once I did it was great! They play soothing music as well! I closed the pod for most of the time, but had to open 1/2 way at some point bc it got super hot! If you're claustrophobic then I'd recommend leaving it open. We wanted to try the hydro massage, but it was broken and they only have 1. So I knocked off a star and also because I think there could be more space in the shower. It's so small I kept hitting the wall with my arms. Also, maybe adding a bath mat or giving a towel for each client to use to put on the floor. I hope to be back soon for some great relaxation! I should have written this a long time ago but was just debating booking again and realized I needed to it. First of all, I cannot recommend floating enough. I was a member at a float spa when I was on the east coast and then I moved back to Texas I was a member at the Float Spot from August 2018-August 2019 and I ended up stopping my membership because I was traveling too much and was wasting money because I couldn't get my two floats in each month since my availability was changing so often and it seemed like they were getting very busy (great for them!) I booked another float in October of 2020 and had a pretty terrible experience. I was literally 2 minutes late and got a call with some attitude asking me if I was actually going to show up. When I arrived I got a tongue lashing about how I booked the first time float and I was not eligible for that discount. Honestly, when I had a membership I just grabbed an hour-long float and booked it and didn't look at the money so I wasn't trying to screw them (despite what the front desk person believed) and was glad to pay whatever I owed (I apologized and put up no fight) but the person at the front desk seemed dead set on making me feel terrible. It was not nearly as relaxing as I'd envisioned. As much as I love floating and this is the only place near my house, I can't seem to bring myself to getting back on the horse. read more

I was welcomed by a young lady at the front desk who went through everything with me in the room like operation of the pod, when to shower, and where everything was in the facility. If I was to describe the experience in one word, it would be: Different. Being that I'm constantly on the run and my mind moving at s thousand miles per hour, this float therapy gives me a chance to mellow out and relax a bit. Even doing that was kinda hard the first time, but I'm improving lol. The first time I came in, I ended up doing it for 40 minutes and I felt like it was bit too long, but maybe because I wasn't used to it. The second time I did the float therapy for 45 minutes, I was a lot more at rest. I wasn't moving as much or fidgeting or anything. after the first float, I think your anxiety goes away and your brain is used to mediation, so if you try it; I recommend doing twice(especially since they offer the special). Meditation is something that isn't really profound nowadays with social media and our phones, but while you're in the pod; you have none of that - which takes some adjusting. As far as benefits, I haven't seen any DIRECTLY yet, but I plan on keep trying It for a couple weeks to see how things change and if it's something I would do long term. I decided to try something different today. The Float Spot was the winner!! Very unique relaxation experience. I opted for the 1 hour float at $65.00. They have a shorter 30 minute float, but I thought it would take me that long to even get relaxed as I was a first time floater. I was advised that if I sleep with a fan or some sort of noise at night, to keep the relaxing music on the entire time. My friend choose to only have it on for the first 5 minutes and the last 10 minutes as she sleeps silent. Each room is equipped with a private shower, changing bench, earplugs, towel, and floating pod. You are given a tour and instructions on what to do and what to expect. Easy peasy!! Quick rinse before getting into the pod and then an hour of turning your mind off. Or, that's the idea!! My mind is not easily able to unwind, but I did find that this experience was relaxing and I was able to clearly think about my day's plans or future plans I had. I never went to sleep and I am not sure it is full sensory deprivation, or at least not for me. Near the end of the hour, the pod was getting a little hot from my own breathing and I had to open it up just a little to let some cool air in. If I ever I do this again, I might leave a towel in the opening to keep it open just a little as the door closes shut on its own and it would keep some fresh air circulating. When you get out of the pod, be sure to have that towel handy and keep your mouth closed. When you get out the extremely salty water will run down your face and into your eyes. You can immediately walk 2 feet to your private shower and wash off. The showers are stocked with shampoo, condition, and body soap. There is a small room in the back with blow dryers and some beauty products. I would suggest bringing your own products with you. Overall, this was a great experience and I will give it another try to see if now that I know how it all works, I can truly let my mind drift away to pure relaxation. read more

The water is 10-12 inches deep and contains a high concentration of magnesium and salts which instantly keep your body floating. No children's arm floatees needed here. Tip: Before floating, I DO strongly recommend the full "dry" hydro massage. It seemed to really relax me first before going into the float and helped to relieve any of my first time anxieties. When the time came to float, I found myself wondering if I could actually get in and enjoy it. It took all of about 4-5 minutes to get in, get comfortable and get to a point where all my thoughts, anxieties, worries, and stress began to slowly unravel. And then the magic started happening. Its hard to describe, as everyone's experience will be different, but as I was laying there, floating in the water, my mind started to wonder...then it started to focus...not on a particular worry or a problem, but on just me...the sound of my breathing and of my heartbeat. How natural and basic it was, but necessary for my life. And for the next 60 minutes, that's all I thought about...not about work, or emails or things I had to get done. It was all about me...and that's exactly how it should be! Finishing up the hour, getting up and rinsing off, I found myself feeling so mellow, relaxed and reset. I felt as if I had slept for a couple of hours, but not groggy. I didn't have the desire to immediately check my phone or emails. I was just there. Calm, relaxed and feeling amazing for the rest of the night. Conclusion Float is an amazing way to re-center your body and your mind and I expect that I will continue going every week or so to just get away from it all and to feel whole again. The Float Spot effectively creates this sensory oasis in a world full of crazy. I do recommend if it's your first time, to take the time to look around the spa, get the hydro massage to loosen you up and then just go for it. Booking was easy. We arrived and the lobby is very noisy with the water jet machines right behind you. The young lady was wonderful she helped every way we could ask. The older gentleman was good as well. When we went into the room, shower was tiny. The amenities were lacking. Our float was a little chilly. The shower after was ice cold no hot water. Then when we got to the counter with our 3 person tab of 300 plus. The old lady started accusing my wife, on her Mother's Day spa day, of wiping boogers "all over" her machine and started demanding we pay a 20 dollar cleaning fee for her having to wipe down and disinfect the pod? If you are pregnant... DO THIS! I'm 32 weeks and have heard amazing things about float therapy. This exceeded my expectations. The owner is so kind and attentive. He kindly walked me through every detail even to finding the music that would meet my personality. He is great at making you feel welcome and comfortable. I was ready for an interesting experience being pregnant and all, but I didn't realize how intimate it would be for baby and me. When floating, I was able to feel almost every limb and curve of his little body. Laying there relaxing and connecting with my son was magical. He was very relaxed and didn't move away from my touch. First float today! I am not really sure what to think about it...but I can say it was totally unique and I AM much more relaxed than when I went in. They say the second float is very different so I may try again. This time my mind was a little busy and I was a little too OCD about how to avoid bouncing off the walls of the pod. And I got a little warm in the pod toward the end. But I liked the sounds played at the beginning and end. The shower was perfect, if a little small for a bigger person. So...i heard about this float therapy from a friend... It was a very busy week and my favorite massage therapist was all booked. I figured fine why not. And all i can say is wow! Playing sports all my life, ive had every kind of massage one can think of...while massages are great..this was a very interesting experience! I love floating; I've only done it 3x and twice at the Float Spot in Frisco. It's a better float experience then the place I went to in Ft Worth, however there have been issues. Today, we had a tire go flat about 30 min before our appt.. we were close by, so we called to let them know we would be about 5 min late.. was very appreciative they said ok, as we were the last appt of the day at 430 on a Sunday. So, we arrived, my husband and I. Since we had been there before, she told me room 1 and hubby room 4. I went ahead, and noticed room 1 was closed. I went back out to confirm room 1 the lady working said yes... so, I walked in and OH MY GOSH!!! Another person (man) was already in the room, naked, standing there texting. I shut the door quickly; I don't think he saw me, but WHO fails to lock the door?!?!??! Come on!!! I ran out and told the lady (and my hubby still being helped at the counter), "there was a man in 1, I'm so sorry!" The lady says, well, he's in the wrong one, I told him 3...so You can go to 3... So, I can't attest to what she told that guy....but i.REALLY didn't want to see some strange man naked before what was supposed to be a relaxing tranquil experience. So, I went and had my float....it was perfect!!!! The temp and water is always spot on!!!!! If you've never tried it, you should!its a nice clean place and it's just a relaxing experience like none other. I love it!!!! My hubby enjoyed his float too. Forward to being in the car heading home...hubby and I talk about the experience and we're talking about how it went...then hubby asks, "you didn't see that man naked, did you?!" I thought my freak out made it obvious I did. Well, my husband was REALLY annoyed!!! Annoyed that they let it happen....I don't know whose "fault" it was....but it certainly made things awkward for the way home. Honestly, I made myself forget about it during my float...but....it was unwanted, unexpected and not to be rude but EW!!! I've been married for 14 years and REALLY didn't want to see a strange man's penis today..... So, what would have been a 5 star experience is a 3.....and I don't see my hubby wanting us to come back unfortunately....at least not for a while... I mean, you expect to be naked in the pod, but you have a certain level of trust that the place will be organized and that it won't happen.... Lesson learned...trust no one; always knock read more

First time I tried floating and I'm definitely a new fan. Everything from start to finish was top notch. I called the store a few days prior to my visit with questions about the experience and so on. Bethany was super kind and friendly and explained above and beyond what to expect, benefits, and had me sold on the experience. I went to float today and Bethany was spot on with setting expectations. Everything is super clean, quiet, serene. You have a shower in the room with the pod so you can rinse off. It was a surreal experience for sure. It's almost like your senses are suspended while in the pod. I felt like o was slowly floating to the right at times, I open my eyes...haven't budget an inch. Then I had a sensation of going downstream in a river. Again...fully still. I did feel like I got more into the zone with the music on than just complete silence. Go with the music they offer it's total meditation chill vibe. I'm excited to do this again and already referred several friends. Glad I found this place! The customer service here is fabulous... keep it up! Facility was very clean. Overall floating experience: Like everyone else, my nerves got the better part of the first 10 mins of my first-timer float session. I started to relax but then my earplugs kept floating out of my ears & then my ears would fill with a rush of salt water. Then every once in awhile I would randomly get salt in my eye which was unfortunate... However- for the pockets of time where I got to just lie there and float and not feel anything, it really was a unique experience. I'm not a fidgety person but I did find myself fidgeting a bit, almost like I was getting bored. Best part: after my float session I went home and slept the deepest sleep I've ever slept in my life. It was incredible! They tell you that you'll sleep hard afterward and they're right! I do recommend everyone try this at least once. I may not be back (too fidgety) but I can see how it's a wonderful experience for those who need to relax!! read more

Absolutely amazing experience! My fiance surprised me with a trip for both of us here. The staff was extremely friendly and explained the whole process, showing up where we would change, pointing out the directions on how to use the Pod, what to do when we were done and wear to store our stuff. Once you're in the pod...I imagine its one of those things that is different for everyone, similar to meditating. My fiance said he was able to fall asleep in the pod, while I had wildly coloful thoughts flowing through my mind the whole time. The feeling of being weightless was pretty awesome. It felt like how I imagined clouds to feel when I was a kid. Like being held up by a strong presence but not really feeling anything. I actually found myself to be a little sore afterwards, like having a deep tissue massage but the staff said this was a typical feeling. The only thing I wish is that there was a giant pod so you could do a couple's float but that doesn't lessen the experience. If you haven't floated before do yourself a solid and get on this right now. read more
