Working with Ashley was easy and helpful - their team made our black tie fundraiser both beautiful and elegant - in the past we've gone the DIY route to save money and I think having Flower Firm install everything was close to the same cost at the end of the day and their setup was spectacular. Disclaimer: I used The Flower Firm for my wedding in 2005. So this review is certainly out-of-date, but I have to assume they still sell, y'know, flowers. So here's the scene. My husband and I went into The Flower Firm for a consultation. Now you have to understand that he's actually a big flower-guy - he knows way more about them than I do. When the meeting began, it was obvious that the woman was talking to me only. After her initial thinly veiled shock when I announced that he would be taking the reins on the flowers, she immediately took him in and they talked shop. She was incredibly helpful, made great suggestions and stayed completely within our budget (even suggesting that we go without flowers on the chair-backs to save us money). She also saved us a bundle by suggesting that we use our centerpieces for the dining tables on pillars to line the aisle during the ceremony. After, they just picked 'em up and transferred them to the table. What a great idea! I wish I remembered her name! Day-of was perfect, the flowers were exactly what we expected and we had no communication problems whatsoever. Our wedding photographer even used a picture he took of our flowers in his website portfolio. Not only did the flowers miraculously appear at the perfect time and to the right people, Colette personally delivered my bouquet which was such a thoughtful gesture. I worked mainly with Nancy for my wedding. She was great & easy to work with. I changed my mind a lot about the flowers after our initial consultation & flower mock-up, so I wasn't sure exactly how everything would look on the day. Everything was beatiful, but not totally how I understood it would be. The bouquets for the mothers were smaller than the one for the flower girl, which made no sense. My bouquet was super tightly wrapped, and smaller than I thought it would be. The uplighting on the columns at my venue (River East Art Center) was supposed to be a rosey pink color, but they were just white light instead. I would recommend. They do very, very beautiful work, we just had some communication issues, and that could have been partly my fault. The column lighting was a total mistake though, as it clearly said "rose colored uplighting" in my proposal. read more

She has great energy, a high level of professionalism, and a wonderful knack for bringing a bride's vision to life! I didn't know exactly what I wanted - but she DID! Another great thing about the Flower Firm is that they will actually make a preview of your centerpieces before the big day (at no charge) so you can see them in real life. This was super helpful to get an exact idea of size and true colors and make any changes. On the day of, Kelly delivered the flowers personally. They were breathtaking. They were also incredibly fresh and went the entire day without browning or wilting; I even forgot to put my bouquet in water over night and it still looked great the next day when we dropped it off to have it preserved! Obviously Christine and the flower firm are clearly in the midst of a heavy PR push to try to sweep or discount the negative ratings they have about them under the rug. Christine says that I clearly don't sugar coat my reviews, and she's absolutely right. Yelp is not a place where you go to read sugar coated reviews - you want the honest truth and experience from people that have dealt with the business or establishment. I was simply stating my experience with the flower firm and not to mention, my review was complimentary of their talent! Colette at the Flower Firm is a true professional. She took my inspirational ideas and more importantly my budget and made my flowers exactly what I wanted. We had a January wedding and I wanted to be careful not to select flowers that would be hard to source and very expensive given the time of year. I got married in Healdsburg, California two years ago and James and Colette and their great staff orchestrated an amazing day! I was the kind of bride who had a pretty good idea of what she wanted but wasn't interested in the nitty gritty details...which is perfect for working with the Flower Firm since they are SO good at both the vision and the execution of it. In advance of the big day I had sent the FF pictures and examples of the look and feel of the flowers and the vibe I was going for (Barn chic as I called it, nothing matching and lots of variety and color and textures). There really wasn't too much back and forth...I trusted they knew what they were doing and were pros who could actually make whatever vision I had better than I could imagine. Fast forward to the wedding day. Before the ceremony my bridesmaids and I went into the art gallery where the reception was going to be held. Walking into the room, with all of the flowers and amazing vases and it being EXACTLY what I wanted, it was amazing. Seeing the reception room for the first time was one of the highlights of my wedding day. I am dead serious. I was so thankful. I can't begin to describe how happy I was (plus, I was marrying an amazing man, but this review isn't about that!). The flowers that the FF shipped in and arranged were beyond amazing. And FF didn't just do the flowers, they also arranged lighting and acted as psuedo day-of planners, whatever it took to make us happy. I stayed at the Four Seasons the night before my wedding and according to the hotel's management, The Flower Firm is the on-site florist for the hotel. I'm not sure why, but this company delivered a couple dozen roses to our room the night before our wedding. They shouldn't have taken the time. If that bouquet is any indication of their skills, The Four Seasons Hotel should scrap this co. and go with 1-800-Flowers. read more

The Flower Firm recently provided their services for my friend's banquet. I was there to watch the Flower Firm set up the whole event. My first impression of James and Colette (the owners) was that were extremely friendly and caring towards the needs of their clients. After watching the set up for about an hour, I realized that my first impression about James and Colette was in fact, the complete opposite of the truth. For this event, James and Colette employed about 20 people for the set up. I soon realized that James and Colette talk down to all employees and will even embarrass them. I saw James belittle an employee for asking a question that he deemed "stupid", After seeing their end result, I realized they are capable of doing the equivalent work of any other flower company. After comparing the bid offers, they were extremely competitive with other companiess. But after my brief interactions with them, I found them very disrespectful and fake. They try and dazzle their clients, but treat their workers like they are incompetent morons. There is no doubt that I believe they run a successful business, but I personally do not like to give business to people that have no respect for others. And for the record, a cheap suit shows. James walks around like Ray Liotta with that suit on, but it is noticeably cheap. I am guessing the suits must be from some place like Burlington Coat Factory or Value City. And his ear looks as though it was bitten badly by a rat. read more

If you have ever been to the Four Seasons Chicago, you have probably been blown away by the sophisticated and creative floral designs in their lobby areas. The Flower Firm is the official florist of the hotel, and in my view, an important part of what makes the Four Seasons such a magnificent place to visit. In planning my very small wedding reception at the Four Seasons in August 2009, I was both surprised and honored that the Flower Firm would want to work with me because they do huge events all over the country. But, not only did they stay within my budget, they proposed several ways in which I could get more for my money. My interaction with the Flower Firm began with a consultation at their West Loop location. I had an idea of what I wanted, but Colette (co-owner with her husband) was able to digest my ideas and take them to a whole new level. She really listens and is very knowledgeable and design-minded. She talked openly about what would have an impact and what would be wasteful. And, she's so incredibly personable, I knew that I wanted to work with her. A few days after our first meeting, I received a proposal and, upon my agreement to work with them, I was invited back to see some designs they had in mind for me, including a real "mock up" of a candlelit dinner table! Colette and her team were completely agreeable to making changes here and there, and they were forthcoming in telling me about any changes that would result in going over-budget. I was confident that they would deliver what I wanted for my special day and then some. On the day of the wedding, I was blown away! I admit to having very high standards, but I literally jumped up and down when I saw my bridal bouquet. The arrangements on the altar at the church (which were kindly transferred to the reception by the Flower Firm) were so breathtaking that I had to make a real effort to focus on getting married instead of staring at the flowers. And, when my guests entered the room where dinner was held, their jaws dropped to see a single long table adorned with beautiful, sweet flowers and candles. In short, my guests are still talking about the IMPACT and ELEGANCE of the evening, and this was in large part due to the quality of flowers and service delivered by the Flower Firm. They did a wonderful job translating my ideas into reality: on the day of the event, everything was *exactly* as we discussed in our planning meeting. I worked with Colette and Lynn, and they were both phenomenally attentive and really eager to make sure that they understood exactly what I wanted. I had interviewed several other florists / design firms before choosing them, but I picked Flower Firm because of their attention to detail and willingness to work to give me what I wanted. It took me a while to figure out what exactly I wanted in terms of colors, types of flowers, etc., but Colette and Lynn were incredibly patient and provided numerous examples and suggestions to help me make my decision(s). At other vendors, I felt like I was being 'pushed' in a certain direction - they wanted me to use flowers they would already have in stock, go with a certain color scheme, etc. But that was not the case at the Flower Firm: they designed a unique floral concept just for my event, and then they executed flawlessly. I've gotten numerous emails from our guests saying that they had fun at our wedding, and one of the most frequently commented-upon features were our flowers. I noticed that some of the other reviewers had problems getting proposals back - I didn't have that problem.
