We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

Our Driver, Bill, was so sweet and shared so much information about grapes, wine, and local knowledge. He called that morning to check in and met us promptly at 10:45. The SUV was roomy and clean and he even had bottles of water on ice ready to go. Which we definitely needed after a few wine stops. Coming into it, I knew nothing about wine and I'm not even sure I knew Michigan had so many wineries and vineyards. I really wanted to write a stellar review for Michael Angelos, but in good conscience I can't…read more After an exciting meeting in a beautiful space, I paid the $300 deposit to have the company decorate and light my Notre Dame wedding. My budget was $4000, which isn't extravagant, but in South Bend, when I am providing my own linens and chargers and even candleholders, should get me what I envisioned. Fast forward to the planning meeting. The designer suggests putting this here, and that there. Everything looks great. All the while, I keep reminding her of my budget and she assures me everything will be wonderful. Two weeks later, I receive her design proposal which was OVER DOUBLE my budget. They also wanted to charge me $2000 solely for set up!! Although she fixed the proposal to be more within budget, the proposed decor and flowers were very plain, completely lacking in any wow factor. As a result of this, I ended up going with merryme events. Cher was able to give me my vision within my budget. It goes without saying that any wedding could be breathtaking if money was no object. However, the mark of a good florist and designer is making a beautiful space within a designated budget. They missed the mark completely. I did apply the $300 for uplighting at my wedding which was fine.

michaelangelos really knows what theyre doing …read more... they do a great job of communicating with you at every phase of the event planning, and the execution is spot-on. i particularly appreciated that they both designed/created elements based on our conversations, and also worked with what we brought them (e.g., items wed ordered from etsy), so it was easy to be pretty free to go with the flow as ideas hit you. one of my fav things, though, was that they were able to do things like string up decorations (something ive never done in my life. im scared of heights + bad at math, so its a miracle i even figured out how to order enough of the papel picado .... ), and they were also able to devise a way to drape a fabric that went with our bright color scheme over the curtains that were in the venue windows (which were a bright red thanskgiving/christmas-like pattern that looked like they were from the 70s (even my husband noticed them/thought they were terrible, and hes color-blind and sartorially-challenged)) to mask them. fantastic mix of professional and artistic -- i think theyre great to work with both if you know more or less what you want and need help executing it, and also if youre a blank canvas :)

This is a small place (think authentic 50s diner, not the kind with pictures of Elvis and reproduction Coke signs), with maybe 30 people max seating. Whatever you do, don't judge the book by its cover. The owner (great guy!) gave us menus and took our drink order. We split a 4 pc chicken dinner with mashed potatoes & gravy along with mac and cheese. After a short wait, around 5 mins, he returned with our meal, and he already had it on two plates for us. There are no frills here. Exactly what you order is what comes on the plate. No garnish, no flourish. But man oh man, is that chicken gooooood. The skin is crispy but not fried hard so that you think your teeth will shatter. The seasoning is just right - super tasty! The meat is moist but not underdone. This is the kind of chicken you remember from grandma's house on Sunday. Or in this case, Pa's house. I travel all the time for work and I always tell people that the best chicken is at the chain Pizza Ranch (don't laugh until you try it). Until now. I cannot put into words how good this is. All the sides were handmade, and you could tell they really care about the food they put out. After we were finished scarfing down our food, we decided to try something else and we ordered a cup of their cheese potato soup, which was really good as well. We also grabbed a couple cookies on the way out. I cannot wait to take my family here; I think they are going to love it and be pleasantly surprised like I was. This is one of the only places that has ever lived up to online hype, I will be back often.
