Traveling to Grand Rapids, we stopped along the way for lunch at Tabor Hill Winery. We haven't been there in years. I forgot how good their restaurant is. We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail. read more

Beautiful grounds, friendly attentive service, and such a great atmosphere overall. We sat indoors by the windows overlooking the vineyard, which made the experience even more special. The food was delicious, and after eating we took a little hike with the boys around the property. They also had live music, which added so much to the vibe. We absolutely loved it! read more

Visited this location because they allow dogs. Much appreciated that they allow dogs but there are restrictions. I wish I would have know that we would limited in menu items because we had the pup. On this occasion we were really looking to get lunch and options for outside were extremely limited. Overall, we had a good time as we really did enjoy the bruschetta which was full of strawberries, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette, and I believe arugula . We thought that the bread for the bruschetta was very unique as it was soft and pillow. Definitely would recommend getting bruschetta from this establishment. For my wine tasting I got a flight of the dry white wine and it was OK. My favorite of the four was the Pinot Gris. I thought that I was going to prefer the Albrino, but unfortunately it was not to my taste buds liking. I would say the wine tasting would've been better at the wine bin cold but the wine felt very room temperature and I did not enjoy that. On occasion, they were doing an event of rosé and croquette and it looks like a really nice set up. Beautiful setting inside or out. We have sat outside and listened to music while overlooking the vineyard. We had appetizers and wine of course. We also went here for dinner one night. For a Saturday you think they would have more than two people taking care of doing the samples. The two employees were polite but there was no time to give us any information about the winery or the wine. It was the equivalent of a fast food wine tasting. There was no where to hang your purse or sit down. It's a shame that their goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible because we enjoyed a number of the wines, but only one bottle was purchased between the seven of us. read more

It was okay but nothing amazing. Just food to get us through the wines. This winery had stunning views and also a fun hiking trail right next to it. The service for the wine was very quick. I really enjoyed all of the wine I tasted there. The food service was slower than i expected however I was with a really large party. The food itself was very good. I had the Tuscan chicken and the flavor made it's way through the bread so it was really good. To be brief, we were disappointed and will not be returning any time in the near future. Made reservations for Valentine's weekend, being busy that day we had to wait to be seated (in spite of having reservations). We stood and waited in the lobby/wine tasting area. Apparently, they have no waiting area to accommodate/seat waiting guests, or if they do, nobody cared to inform us. Once shown our seats we were left to put our coats on the floor. Apparently, they have no coat check, or if they do, nobody cared to inform us. What about hanging them on the back of the chair? As we were dressed up, we were wearing long coats, so besides being tacky, draping them on our chairs wasn't an option. Further, IMO they had so many tables packed into the room that they should have just put in picnic tables and squeezed a dozen more folks into the space. Our server came to the table in a reasonable amount of time, but once we ordered our wine we waited so long we discussed just leaving (and wondering if they'd even notice.) Our server was friendly, and there appeared to be an abundance of staff, but we were often left wanting or waiting, so we wondered if she lacked training or experience. We had to ask for water. Seriously?! That's not how an upscale restaurant should operate, but they made up for it by waiting for us to ask for refills. Again, we considered leaving as we waited an inordinately long time for our appetizer. Sure, it was Valentine's weekend so they must have been busy. True - it was and they were. But shouldn't we expect a seasoned establishment advertising specifically for Valentine's day guests to anticipate a good turnout and be ready to rock a full house? It appeared they were not. I will say that the food was tasty and portions more than met expectations. That said, it seemed that they're not preparing their famous raspberry chicken the way they have in years past. When it was time to pay, the server brought over the handheld device to run my card. I was surprised and quite uncomfortable with her literally watching over my shoulder as I filled out the tip and signed. Did she think I was going to walk out with it? Very rude! Each little shortcoming, in and of itself, wasn't really much of a thing but as they stacked up throughout the evening they served to tilt the scale toward an overall negative experience. Service was bad, we had to reorder because she forgot my wifes selection, drinks check back/ check down etc was awful. Timing, refills everything was late , long or never showed. Appetizer was meh, I ordered the smoked turkey dip...i got a flew slices of deli lunchmeat that was dry, on a Gonella roll. And the final straw...a hair in it My daughter had the trout w capers and lemon and some grilled asparagus. It was actually pretty good amd she enjoyed it. This was neither great food, great service or a good value. Stay away, this is engineered food made for extracting money as quickly as possible from wine tourists. Again...a shame because at one time Tabor Hill flirted with actual greatness, we have been coming here for 25 yrs. Read the reviews...they tell a predictable story arc. We've been here several times over the years, but hadn't been for.a while prior to our latest visit for our anniversary getaway weekend. My wife and I enjoyed the restaurant with the scenic views. Tasty food and friendly service. We went outside for a wine tasting (not an indoor option for tastings on the weekend anymore, apparently) and encountered some disappointments: - It's not a true wine tasting experience, as you can no longer select the wines you want to try. There are three pre-chosen "flights" you can choose from. - Once you choose a flight, the wine is served in plastic cups on what resembles a muffin box. - In past experiences here, it was always nice to chat with the server about the wine, etc prior to tasting each one. That personalized experience doesn't really exist in this format. My wife, who is more of the wine drinker in our home, was definitely disappointed in all of these "cut corners." We proceeded to Round Barn, where we had much the same experience (same ownership), but made it to Dablon Winery later for an experience that definitely met our expectations. read more

My friends and I came to the area for a bachelorette party wine tour. This was the second stop on our tour and our lunch stop. It's such a beautiful location! We didn't do a tasting here but had lunch and it was pretty good. As part of our tour package, we each got an entree and drink and shared an appetizer. I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with a side salad and a red sangria. I liked everything and it was a big portion. The bread on the sandwich was super soft and pillowy. The arancini appetizer was my favorite part. I could've had just a whole meal of those. The staff were friendly and I bet this would be a great location to spend more time. We dined inside on the enclosed porch but there was a bunch of outdoor seating out by the vineyards that looked pretty awesome too. read more

Being able to sip on some wine in a picture perfect setting is my favorite way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon. We didn't eat this time just did a tasting in the bar. You can also sit outside to do tastings right along the vineyard but it was a little too chilly for me. They offer a wine club membership for an annual fee that includes a couple other surrounding wineries. It's actually a pretty good deal. I bought a case of wine & had to have it shipped so I figured why not. I ended up saving $156 on the wine alone. Plus got 1/2 off the tasting. read more

Overall, it was just OK - the views were pretty great and I liked how they had three different tasting areas with different ambiance's, but the wines and flights were just ok. New Year's Eve 2024 was my first experience at Tabor Hill Restaurant. The drive to this area is delightful during the day. However, our trek to the venue on New Year's Eve was a bit of a challenge on a moonless, cold, rainy, winter night, down slick backroads with no lighting. We arrived to a beautiful property, expecting an excellent dining experience. The complementary glass of wine was a nice touch. The room in which we had dinner was cozy with a wonderful fireplace. Although the tables were nice, there were too many in the room. They were not at full capacity, so removing a few tables for a bit more elbow room was doable. It also would have been nice to have a place to hang our coats as well. Our server was friendly, but was not very attentive. We observed her visiting the tables all around us, but we had to flag her down multiple times for water refills, steak sauce (they had none), and crackers to have with our soup (they had none). The wait was so long for a response about the crackers that we sent the (cold) soup back, untouched. Bread was ordered for the table. When the manager brought the bread out, he walked right up to the table, but did not put it down. Instead he turned on his heels and went over to a display case that had crashed to the ground moments earlier, and began having a conversation with two workers directly over our uncovered bread. When the bread was finally delivered to the table, the manager asked if there was a problem (not "is everything okay" or "is there anything else that you need"). There was not "a" problem, there were several. The service had been mediocre at best, and both he and our server were behaving as though they were tolerating us as opposed to appreciating our business by treating us with care. The lobster ravioli was delicious as well as the meat on the beef for two platter (the brussels sprouts and potatoes were not good at all). Our New Year's Eve dinner at Tabor Hill was disappointing at best. Do better read more

Beautiful setting. We did the short trail walk between Tabor Hill and Round Barn. We did not look at the food menu before deciding where to eat but got very lucky with the daily lunch special option. The regular menu is a little pricy but everything was delicious. We did a wine tasting, you got to choose 5 wines and keep your tasting glass which is included in the price. There were some differences in the pour amounts which we found annoying, but overall a great experience. read more

Speaking of which, the wine selection was top-notch, with each sip as smooth as the atmosphere. Best restaurant in this whole area. I had the rainbow trout meal and it was phenomenal! $30 for two pieces of fish covered in a lemony caper and lump crabmeat sauce, with green beans and potatoes. I couldn't even finish it because the portion was so large. I also had a charcuterie board which comes with fruit, olives, and pickles. We had truffle fries for an appetizer with a Dijon dipping sauce. All of it was fantastic. The sweet wine flight could please anyone. Discount on wine bottles purchased while dining. I visited this winery with the whole family with plans to walk the trail, stop at the sister location at the end of the trail, and return for dinner at Tabor Hill as we'd read that it's both pet and kid friendly. While the sights and ambiance were nice, and the trail is well maintained, I was disappointed to find that being "dog-friendly" was selective as they did not have dining options to accommodate our party - and the neighboring winery was just not as nice. We walked the vineyard and trails but relocated for dinner. I think it's be a good option for a light afternoon - trails, tastings, and bites in the outdoor lounge. I'll give it another try next time I'm in town but with managed expectations. read more

I've come to Tabor Hill a few times since my first expierence/last review and I have been recognized by my original waitress everytime which was honestly really nice.  My first review I talked about ordering off the brunch menu, one of the cheese & meat plates and the wine tour.  I would still highly recommend any of those things.  The decor hasn't changed- it's still as amazing as it's always been. Back in December 2018 my best friend and I went with her son to the brunch with Santa brunch buffet which was just wonderful.  He loved seeing Santa and sitting on his lap.  Santa also came out for a bit during brunch to interact with the kids and they loved it.  I would come to something like that again for sure. Most recently I finally got my husband to come to try some alcohol and one of the cheese & meat boards.  It was a great expierence and we even talked about coming back together for our wedding anniversary for a wine tour.  This is definitely a place to come if you're looking for a nice dinner without being forced to dress top notch.  You can get mimosas and pancakes in jeans and a basic shirt.  I will always continue to be a customer, even if it's not super often. read more

The red wine demi sec is bad. I've been ordering directly online for 1yr + but recently something is off. I asked for a refund which was given. I then purchased at a local Binnys and it's been inconsistent. The recent batches have a bad smell and taste. I can't figure out what the problem is. Tabor Hill's interior is absolutely beautiful, gorgeous windows that you can view the vineyards. It's very spacious and relaxing. They have a variety of wines and their food is excellent. I'd highly recommend the salmon jerky on the charcuterie board. The waitress was attentive and kind. read more
