We loved it, thank you for a great experience! 4 of us booked a tour for a bachelorette party and since we aren't from the area (2 of us from Indy and 2 from Chicago), we thought a tour with a driver would be the perfect option for us. We didn't have to try and figure out directions and we could drink all the wine. We had 3 tastings and a lunch over the course of a few hours. Our Driver, Bill, was so sweet and shared so much information about grapes, wine, and local knowledge. He called that morning to check in and met us promptly at 10:45. The SUV was roomy and clean and he even had bottles of water on ice ready to go. Which we definitely needed after a few wine stops. Coming into it, I knew nothing about wine and I'm not even sure I knew Michigan had so many wineries and vineyards. So great! Kristin is the best and took such good care of us! There were 4 of us in a lux Escalade, but they also have vans and buses for larger groups. Snacks and ample water for us all. They were great with suggesting wineries based on our preferences since we were new to the area but also so accommodating of our requests. Some disclaimers 1) This is a review soon after the COVID-19 reopening of many businesses, 2) Some of these comments may be due to the individual wineries' policies themselves, rather than Grape and Grain (GG), however, this review is meant to shed light on the types of wineries that GG chose to include on their tours, 3) if any these events happened in isolation, I wouldn't gripe, but the overall experience was dampened by these mishaps along the way. I have used this company pre-COVID, with no complaints, so I know what the GG tours can look like. Kim, the owner, offers a return customer discount and it took a couple of tries to get the discount right so I could pay online. Then, Kim sent me a menu with categories (including salads/soups, main, and sides) and told me that each guest (there are 6 of us) was to "pick one." After submitting our choices, Kim told me that there was only one option, period, and that sides were not included, and proceeded to email me a menu with the sides category eliminated. Now, if I were the owner, I would have said, you know what, I'll pick up the sides or pay for a couple of apps for your party for my mistake your inconvenience. But, she didn't, and I went back to the other 5 guests to get their revised choices to resubmit. I decided not to make a deal of it. But then, the troubles continued. The first winery (Dablon) did not offer us a flight tasting, but told us that we had a $60 credit (between 6 of us) to pick whatever we wanted to drink, but we had to pay the difference. We ended up with a few bottles and a few individual glasses, NOT a tasting and not all-inclusive either (as the tour is advertised on the website, and as I have experienced on my prior tour a few years ago). There was no explanation of the wines by the staff, so we didn't buy anything. Deb, our driver, after dropping us off and parking the van, approached our table and said that the winery staff was supposed to give her the outstanding bill, and why we were asked to pay the overage was beyond her. But, there was still no wine flight offered. Per Deb, this winery was not going to change the no-flight policy (they were going to continue to simply offer a credit), so I would hope that GG would reconsider including them on future tours. Deb felt so bad about Dablon, she called Kim and got permission to take us to Lemon Creek Winery (on their dime), which is not on their regular tour, but should be because it was perfect. We got flights, the staff gave us a rundown, and we bought LOTS of bottles of wine. Deb insisted that we continue to enjoy our tastings while she loaded our merch into the van (a full service gal). She also dropped off complimentary snacks to our table. Third place. Tabor Hill. They had flights, informative staff, and we bought LOTS of wine, again. However, when we first got there, there were tables with canopies over them, BUT only for guests with paid reservations (I believe it was a $200 rental fee). Which was not us. We were relegated to sitting in plastic chairs in the sun. Luckily, the host told us that there was a cabana that was reserved, but since the party never showed, we could sit there, but if the party showed, we would have to give up the space. In the future, I hope GG can work something out with Tabor Hill where their guests can be treated to a cabana (maybe even requiring a minimum purchase). But placing GG guests out in the uncovered sun, while letting them know they can buy some shade for (more) money on top of what we paid GG is not the treatment I would expect. Fourth place. Round Barn. Again, a $120 credit, no flight. Since it was our last stop, we were pretty toasty, and I am not sure what would have happened if we exceeded the credit. Again, it is not quite all-inclusive, and certainly not a wine "tasting." If you don't use the entire credit, you can use it in the shop for merchandise among your group. That being said, the company of 6 women and a little liquor always means a good time, which is why I say the overall experience was "dampened" and not ruined. Our driver, Deb, was AWESOME and would recommend her again in a heartbeat. I just hope this helps other people who are looking to book tours, and helps GG serve up the best tours around, including holding these wineries to good customer service. One more thing to note...our Cadillac was a rather tight squeeze for the 6 ladies. Even Deb made a comment that she hated when the Caddie was booked for that many people. read more

So much fun! I'm always skeptical of these buses because of how expensive they are and you have to provide your own alcohol, but Cara made the experience worth it. She was so friendly and fun during our entire trip. She made sure we were all having a good time by playing our playlists and encouraging our dancing. She was very informative about each of our stops and checked us in and introduced our party to the hosts at each location. We had an itinerary that was on a time limit and she kept this in mind and always came to check on us about 10 minutes before we were supposed to leave so we didn't fall behind. She knew the wineries well and gave us advice and tips for each place. The last winery we went to was extremely crowded so she allowed us to bring our flights on the bus to hangout and continue the dance party. Cara even participated in some carpool karaoke with us. I booked this tour for me and my boyfriend to check out some Michigan wineries as this was our first official wine tour. We went on a snowy Sunday and happened to be the only 2 on the tour. Our driver, Debbie, was AMAZING. Her top priority was making sure had a great day and she was so friendly and accommodating, I couldn't praise her enough. The three wineries were excellent: between 3-7 tastings depending on the venue and the consultants at each were friendly and knowledgeable, particularly Margot at Tabor Hill. Lunch at Public House was also really good, one of the better veggie burgers I've had. Overall, a great day and we definitely had our fair share of wine! read more

Awesome way to safely tour the area wineries and breweries. My wife and I visited there in November and, after looking at the various tours, settled on this one as it offered a bit of different experience than others. We especially liked the mixture of both beer and wine. The shuttle picked us up on time at Marina Grand, made a quick stop to pick up another group and then took the drive to Baroda. Started at the Round Barn Public house which offered up some good food and a fantastic tasting of both beer and wine (we enjoyed a great flight of beer). We picked up another group there and then headed to Lemon Creek, Free Run, and Round Barn. Plenty of time at each stop (poor Cody having to corral everyone as the day got, um, more interesting). Bonus was that being with Grapes and Grains got us into the private tasting areas at some of the busier locations. Each stop offered a bit of something different. While this is certainly a marketing tool for the wineries (there is a strong affiliation between the tour and the wineries), there was no pressure to purchase at any locations (but what is the fun in that?) Would do it again in a second when we make it up there again. read more

My husband and I went on the Sunday Funday tour for our wedding anniversary -- and we were both extremely pleased! Scott picked us up at the Goldberry Woods, and was actually a little early. We didn't mind though, because we were excited to get going. The van was very well-kept and comfortable. We plugged in our phone for music, and talked to Scott and Deb (a new driver who was coming along) the whole way. We made two stops to pick up two other couples, and were all on our merry way. We stopped at four wineries and at Round Barn Brewery for lunch. Lunch was included in the price, and we sampled five to six wines at every winery. Overall, the price is *very* good for the amount of stops, samples, and food. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the tour. The amount of time spent at every place was just right -- enough to sample the wines at a comfortable pace, and enjoy the beautiful views. My aunts, cousins and I had a group of 14 for their private tour. It was a great experience. I started an itinerary based on what I found online and Kim helped refine the details. She even made a great suggestion for a winery where we could bring lunch! It was absolutely perfect for our group and we would have never have known about it otherwise. The owner of this company outright lies. They do not take you to the places advertised and they don't warn you about it. I paid for a private tour and got shit on when Kim told me because I thanked my driver I can't get a partial refund for not taking me to the right places. It's not my drivers fault Kim made the wrong reservations. I'm sure her attitude with me is probably why the good vineyards don't want to work with her. We arranged a private shuttle for a Bachelorette party, and boy was it worth it! Our driver Tammy was AMAZING. She picked us up right at our AirBnB, took a few minutes to go over the itinerary, and gave us some details of how we would spend the day. As we drove to each winery she gave us some background on them, and even pointed out the other wineries that would be worthwhile to visit next time we're in the area. At each location, she checked us in, got us situated, then came back when it was getting close to time to go. She even packed up and labeled all cups and bottles when we got back to the bus! I booked a wine tour for 7 people in July of 2016 for a bachelorette party and had a fantastic experience. Our bus driver Cody was on time, friendly, very helpful in coordinating our tour, and super laid back. The bus was clean, and water bottles were provided which was great. A group of 11 of us did this tour for a bachelorette party this past weekend. We booked about 2 months ago and the tour was $110 per person plus tip. It seemed reasonable for the amount of stops we did and what we got for that, plus it was super easy and convenient to pay online. The driver arrive a few minutes late, but was very friendly and helpful. He took some time to take pictures of us when we asked and had a great playlist all ready to go. He helped us load our cooler into the van as well. Our driver Scott had a good sense of humor and told us where to go when we got to each stop. He also came by to check on us at each place as well. He kept us on a good schedule and gave great tips. The bus was clean with more than enough room for us. If you want to feel like you're on a field trip in preschool, use this tour company. Only thing missing was that leash they use to keep the kids together. We were scolded several times throughout the trip by Deb. A friend who chose not to drink was basically padded down to see if she was pregnant.
