If I'm being honest, there's little I fear more than ending up in some type of facility-based…read moresetting as I get older. I dread the thought. However, as a person with a disability whose last family member only recently passed away I'm aware that at some point I may need another level of care and support. Marquette, a Life Plan retirement community, is one of Central Indiana's better options. I've experienced Marquette in a multitude of ways - from visits to chaplaincy to friends who have lived (and continue to live) here to my own experiences. Marquette is located on Indy's northwest side. It's on a 47-acre wooded campus that offers independent living, assisted living, a health campus, short-term rehab, and memory care. They're getting ready to create a new area called "The Commons" to create a pickleball area (I really need to try that sometime), a lounge, a grilling area and more. As you enter Marquette (which used to be known as both Marquette Manor and Marquette Senior Living), you pass through a monitored gate entrance. I believe it's 24/7 and I've never been here when someone wasn't present. It helps to know the names of the different areas as signage is really geared more toward community than commercial. The different areas are clearly defined. This is a wooded setting with trails, a small lake, and an abundance of parking (though I'll say one deficit is that finding accessible parking if you're not a resident is difficult at times). Services include transportation (shopping, medical, events/outings), valet parking, bi-weekly housekeeping and weekly flat linen, healthcare at the on-campus Lynne O'Day Clinic, maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, emergency call systems, pendants w/GPS tracking, expanded basic cable/internet, all utilities (except phone), and free wifi throughout campus. Assistance in living is extra. Amenities include a variety of dining options in pretty amazing settings. This is a "facility," yet so often I'm amazed at what they've done to make it not feel like one. There's a more formal dining room, casual grill, outdoor dining area, and even a "Township Tavern." Marquette has an athletic center run by the National Institute of Fitness and Sports. There are wellness programs run by two full-time, on-site personal trainers. There's a performing arts center, on-campus BMO Harris banking, a massage studio, guest suites for visitors (and private dining room areas), a woodworking shop, a business center, a chapel (that accommodates different faiths), walking/biking trails, a gift shop, and Marquette is pet friendly (small pets). Marquette, of course, has all the usual stuff - library, billiards, patio space, gardens. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are well dressed, friendly, helpful, and discreet with personal assistance. They are protective of residents, however, it feels like almost "Disney" in a way. It's like friendly yet very definite. I've gotten the feeling more than once that these employees would kick your a** if you tried to hurt one of their residents. The front desk people are helpful and knowledgeable. The website features a wealth of knowledge about community including strong knowledge about costs (Yes, it's expensive. Every retirement community is but I love that they're open about this kind of information). There are very few retirement settings where I think "I could live here," but Marquette is definitely one where I think "I could live here." I dread the day when I may actually need more help, but if I reach that point I sure hope I can find a place like Marquette to live.

His heart medication got lowered because of this treatment. He was sent to this Rehab center -- for 3 weeks -- w/o checking his heart medication?? As for rehab, he only got simple exercise for 45 minutes during Mon thru Fri, which he could have done better at home AND could have seen his heart doctor to update his heart meds.!! -- During his 3 week stay at this Rehab, he only saw doctors once a week who did not suggest his lowered meds. while in hospital. -- Do NOT go to Rehab after getting discharged out of hospital. Go home do see your doctors and do outside Rehab facilities after being discharged from hospital. -- While in Rehab, you do not see doctors about your condition and the Rehab is a JOKE. -- My husband almost died because his heart med (Water pills) were lowered for the 3 weeks in Rehab. and the Rehab ?? did not do anything but get him closer to death. -- A day after he was released from Rehab, he almost died. We admitted him to IU North that fixed the heart problem he had gone thru from the Pneumonia problem to Rehab -- but that messed up his heart problem while in Rehab. -- Do not do Rehab because they cannot fix you medicine problems and they not help with REHAB problems -- very low, few exercise problems!

It's Monday at Sycamore Reserve Senior Community. It's a beautiful day in a very nice place…read more Our home can be considered a Resort Lifestyle. For Barbara McNamara and me it is more a Retreat Lifestyle. We have time to read, write, and reflect. There are several retired ministers living here, a retired Firefighter Chaplain, two fine pianists. There are others with a wealth of life experience, including success in professions and business. We enjoy conversations with people who have lived exceptional lives. We have exercise classes, a heated salt-water pool, Chair Yoga, healthy food, a weekly Bible Study, and on-site Sunday Worship Services. We also enjoy Happy Hour on Friday, we just had a 500 Race Party and are planning a KY Derby Party. There are times and places for discussion and reflection. Living here helps us with the organization and integration of our lifetimes of experience and learning. So is Sycamore Reserve a Resort or Retreat? The bottom line: The management and staff here provide us with great choices each day to live the life that works for us that day. We love having choices.

Stayed at this facility for five months for physical therapy…read more Started off decent enough. True colors eventually shown. If you can avoid putting someone you love in a place as such, please look elsewhere. They are not in the business of trying to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Money hungry at the expense of those who trust them. Unprofessional business office staff. Nursing staff is verbally abusive to residents. Video snip of what I heard provided. This type of interaction occurred more often than not. There is a lot of patient neglect impacting those who are not able to speak for themselves. I have not been a resident of Allison Pointe Healthcare since January 9, 2026. I am no longer under the care of Allison Pointe Healthcare. There was change in the representative payee information took place well after I had left the facility. And I was not made aware of this change during my stay or before my departure. Allison Pointe has named themselves as my representative payee as of January 29th, 2026. I am not at another facility and have transferred back into the normal living community. Upon my departure, James and Jessica were aware of my return to the community and not to another facility as I completed the discharge with them both, respectively. Even shook their hands as a sign of appreciation and respect. When I took this matter to their attention I get no response. No phone call no email reply. Because of this matter, my SSDI income has been suspended so I currently have no means of income. It is my understanding that Allison Pointe will need to remove themselves as a representative payee so I am able to resume receiving my monthly benefits. They have no business taking my income, I have not been under their care for almost two months! In addition while reviewing my Medicaid billing form; Allison Pointe did bill Medicaid for a "discharge fee" dated January 9, 2026. Just stay away.

Please believe the negative reviews! This facility is beyond despicable!…read more Prior to my husband's admission to Allison Pointe Healthcare, I assumed we would make our own determination. Unfortunately, the negative reviews are accurate, and the rating should be negative. My husband was admitted for wound care and physical/occupational therapy. During nearly two months, he did not receive appropriate wound care until after being seen at an outside wound care clinic, where an infection was identified. With respect to therapy, my bed-bound husband was sat on the edge of the bed only once--and only after we complained. Meaningful therapy was virtually nonexistent. Staff attempted to place him in a wheelchair with improper pedals, causing him to slide, and even suggested using a makeshift wooden box, which is wholly inappropriate in a medical setting. After waiting over three weeks for proper equipment, he was later left in a wheelchair without a call light within reach, despite having a Stage 4 wound. He had to call me on his phone so I could demand he be returned to bed. I am an attorney and documented numerous deficiencies. My sister, a cardiologist, identified that my husband was given incorrect lab results. When raised with the temporary nurse practitioner, I was told, "The results have his name on them, so they must be his," and she proposed further testing based on those inaccurate results--then asked if my husband had been drinking alcohol, which he does not. That interaction prompted us to plan for discharge. While there are a few compassionate nurses and aides, they are overwhelmed by poor leadership. Basic care was provided only upon repeated requests, including vital checks. Families must constantly advocate, monitor medications, and ensure repositioning--otherwise care is missed. This facility charges nearly $12,000 per month. For that amount, patients should not have to fight for basic care, safety, and dignity. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility to look elsewhere and to check on loved ones frequently--especially if they are bedridden.
