I attended a 200-year university anniversary celebration here, so full disclosure: I didn't pay for a thing. This review is based on free-flowing appetizers and drinks, which, as we all know, is the best way to experience anything. The decor is standard Firkin pub meaning cozy, British, and featuring the signature Union Jack couch that I unfortunately neglected to take a picture of as there was an event photographer. For a British-style pub, my only real complaint is the cider selection. As someone who isn't a Strongbow fan, I was hoping for a nice local option, but the choices were slim. I happily pivoted to a perfectly pleasant Malbec, so I was okay in the end. The service was surprisingly excellent. Our party had about 30 people, and although there was another large group there at the same time, the staff was on it. Our waitresses kept us well-stocked with appetizers and managed to get drink orders filled with impressive speed. For those taking transit, it's incredibly accessible and just a five-minute walk from Rosedale station on Line 1. I can't speak to the parking situation as I didn't drive, but I didn't notice any garages on my walk from the subway. I'll have to come back on my own dime to give a more "authentic" review, but based on this experience, they know how to handle a crowd. read more

Been here more than times than I can remember. The Fox, one of the many available Firkin pub location around town, is a good place to hang out having food & drinks with friends or colleagues after a long day from work. The pub also has sporting events shown in their many TV displays. Food serving after order placement was timely. Prices were reasonable, and drink selection were numerous. A gripe I have is that some of the available food fare could come out better tasting. One such example is their Chicken curry which tastes bland and not very flavorful at all. I understand that this maybe modeled and themed like a UK pub, and Indian food is not really their specialty. However, they should at least have it held up to a certain decent standard. read more

The Yonge and Eglinton area has never been great as far as burritos go, as we're stuck with such mediocre burrito purveyors as Chipotle, Clandestina, and Luisa's Burritos & Bowls. So my expectations weren't super high when I noticed that Rico Burrito was operating out of The Fox and Firkin. I've never been so happy to be so wrong. I decided to try the Rico Size Carne Burrito and I ordered it with everything except cheese. I picked it up and was immediately impressed by the fancy bag and box it came in. Presentation counts! This is one outstanding burrito. The various components all work really well together, and although it doesn't punch you in the face with flavor like Burrito Boyz, the included sauces are super tasty and effectively tie the whole thing together. But the star of the show are the plentiful pieces of grilled steak contained within. I've legitimately never had a steak burrito where the meat was this good and this well cooked. The individual pieces practically melted in my mouth, that's how tender they were. It's actually kind of insane. I'm so stoked to finally have a decent burrito joint in the Yonge/Eglinton area, and I can't wait to try some of Rico Burrito's other offerings. read more

Good ambience. Good food and drinks. Had one negative service experience! I have been here three times. I will give my overall experience followed by one negative experience. This is a nice cheerful pub with a good beer menu and classic pub food. Perfect for hanging out with friends on a weekend or even watching a game. My first two times here were great having drinks with friends. Friendly servers and fun. I went there yesterday to order a Nacho takeout. I told the server to give me a plate of nachos. I was at the counter itself as I was ordering take out. In front of me, he rang the order and gave me the bill. I saw that this was more expensive than the single date nachos I had wanted.So I told him that I had wanted the smaller portion of the nachos and maybe I had not communicated it correctly. All this took place within 30 seconds. He flat out said that the order had been placed and if I wanted the single date nachos he would have to bill me twice and I would have to pay for both the dishes. HE COULD NOT CANCEL THE ORDER 30 SECONDS AFTER RINGING IT. This was wrong because no one would have started working on the order. I did not want to argue and took it. Came here on Thanksgiving with few friends. This is a really nice pub in the area. I ordered the Monday special (Burger & Butlers). Burger comes with fries and it was tasty. Beer was light. The fox is awesome. Great vibes, friendly staff, delish food. I am here way too often (shhhh, don't tell my trainer). Great spot for a young-crowd weeknight and for catching matches/games. Small but swank. Recently renovated, check it out. I've had a-many meals here... None bad but a few more memorable. You can not go wrong with the sandwiches, burgers and the fish and chips. And the beers on tap, duh... Helluuuurr. The turkey Cobb salad is also a great protein-healthy option. But... I (strongly) RECOMMEND: Firkin burger is like crack on a bun! The Mac and cheese with meatballs is not half bad either! EXTRA TIP: best burger side so far: sweet potato fries for sure. Or ask for gravy with your regular fries. delish. I've been a regular for many years & the service just gets better. I was there this past week-end & asked if a menu item could be changed to accommodate my wife. It was my first time ordering food at a Fox and I was blown away. We ordered the 5lbs of wings ($60) and 2 Large Nachos (~$15) among a party of 8. I was surprised at how good the wings tasted. They were full bodied with a a crispy bite. The sauces however were typical. We ordered Hot, Suicide and Cajun. The cajun one was the crowd pleaser. The Nachos were average. this was spot #5 on a random bar hop with my coworkers. we went in because we couldn't get into prohibition because of the jersey and hat my coworker was wearing. for a friday night it was dead, we got seated on the patio immediately and served equally quickly. Ahh... the Fox and The Fi*kin lying, lazy and rude manager Esteban. This used to be my regular spot for about 2 years. But it will no longer be. I am really unhappy with the way the manager, Esteban, treated me, a regular customer. This manager cannot have a conversation. He only yells, talks over you, and has no emotional regulation skills. He's also allowed the food to go significantly downhill and generally has added to a hostile environment. This is not a place to have fun or watch sports or enjoy laughing at any volume. I usually just go there for a lunchtime pint, to read my book alone. I even became friendly with many of the staff and liked them a lot. Sam, however, has never smiled at me or attempted to learn my name or show any positive skills in her serving. Upsettingly, one night, this server, Sam, didn't like how I was behaving. She was demanding, rude and unforgiving, although I acquiesced to all her demands(not requests). A few days later, I was refused service. After that, I tried to speak to the manager over the phone about this issue. The first thing he did was raise his voice to me and start saying nasty things about me (having never once met me). He refused to listen to me and interrupted every time I started to speak. He lied about being in attendance that night and when I caught him in his lie, he just started full out screaming at me. This is a poorly run restaurant with at least some staff who believe "The customer is alway WRONG" and a manager who certainly believes this. This manager is barely ever there, and refused to listen to someone who was trying to be polite and apologetic, a regular customer who came in nearly 4 days a week for 1-2 pints while reading a book. This is unfortunate because I liked a number of the other servers and had even thought we'd become friends. I really don't have anything bad to say about them. But I would not advise anyone who expects to be treated well to go here - and certainly never in the evening where any kind of boisterous behaviour is discouraged. Many much better bars around. And the food is disgusting anyway. I guess if you're desperate for a cheap beer, go for it. But if Sam's your server, or Esteban's around, run the other way and save yourself. read more

No, just no. I am not one to visit chains in my hometown or even travel hours on end to sit in a Canadian bar-like, run down Friday's. But, it was late, near our hotel and suggested by a local as a 'no frills', please all option. Waitress was sweet but slow. Prices were insane, even for Canada. $11.95 for a glass of Fat Bastard wine? That is just slightly higher than a bottle, a bottle. First glass was skunky, I could smell the skunk - did not even have to taste it. Gross atmosphere. Pretty empty for a Saturday night. Guess everyone is aware to avoid this place. read more

This Firkin looks REALLY dated. Considering the boring menu, completely tasteless french fries, and the dirty carpet that looks like it was laid in the 70s, I would at least expect cheaper prices. $50 for two people having a sandwich and 2 draft each. The staff are actually not bad and one of the more decent things about the place. But this does not make up for the overall experience. Me and my girlfriend have been going to this bar for the past 10 months, at least once or twice a month, so first thing... service is GREAT! never had a complain, always been served promptly, food doesn't take that long even on busy nights. On saturdays they have my favourite draft beer at $5 (creemore), so you cant beat that. The reason why i dont give it 5 stars its because the menu has nothing special and the prices (outside promotions) are not great. At this place you will always find UFC PPV events and NHL games, and a decent amount of screens for the size of the bar, and no cover. read more

ok out of all the Yonge and Eg pubs, this is the worst in my opinion, but really it's not that bad. It's one floor going all the way to the back, but they have a patio too. But the patio is kinda hidden in the back and so when you eat there, it feels like shit is flying into your food from all the construction happening behind the building/too loud. This is why my lunch crew stopped coming here on fridays. It seemed like the construction was never going to stop (over two summers now). The place has good interiors, good food options but gets crowded and can get a bit tight. The food is reasonably good - check out their specials that include Brocolli Cheddar soup, Chicken Burger and the Salmon with Rice. The wait staff is mixed - some of them are good and some of them get rude as the crowd picks up (especially a guy with the Pony tail). They have quite a few TVs and you can catch up the games there. The washrooms are clean (which makes me give them an additional star!).Overall, a decent place but not ideal for big groups. read more

This is a pretty standard Firkin location. The inside is small, but there is a large patio out the back which I didn't even realize was there until recently! If I'm going to a Firkin, I'd probably head to one further downtown where there more people to meet and mingle with, but this one offers a convenient location for all us Yonge & Eggers. read more

This place is extremely strict about overserving alcohol. We were there one time and one member of our group had a little too much to drink. Mind you, we were completely able to help him home. He lived right next door and was not driving. What did they do? They put a lifetime ban on serving everyone in our party, for no good reason. I appreciate that there are reasons behind these rules around alcohol, but this establishment takes it way overboard I felt like I was in a dictatorship like North Korea or something. For this reason, I will not be inviting my friends back there in the future. It's a shame, because there are very few pubs left in the Yonge and Eglinton area. read more

Just had some sheppard's pie with a friend. The Firkin pubs all have the same menus, and they are all amazing. I have to say that my pie tonight was a little bit "juicer " than usual, but it still tasted great. If you want some tasty British food, this is a great choice. read more

Wings are great, service is attentive. Not polite, but attentive. The one thing I recommended that you do here is to keep tabs on what you ordered and how much of it. I just got home from a Saturday night spent at The Fox. A friend and I ordered a couple of apps and a pound of wings each as well as some pints. I happened to count the amount I consumed but was charged an extra 2 pints that I didn't even order. I raised a complaint yet still paid my bill. The server didn't agree when I expressed my disappointment at being charged for something that I didn't order, much less consume. When I approached the Owner to voice my displeasure of being charged extra, he confronted me at the front door, had his bouncer block the front door, even though I paid my bill in full, accused me of being drunk, and told me that my business isn't wanted here. read more

This place is NOT my favourite pub in the area, it just always feels a bit dirty. I love a good dark dank pub but this one misses the mark feeling grungy and open rather than dark and cozy. Absolutely disgraceful service. We ordered two orders of fish tacos and after waiting for what seemed like forever, we decided to ask about our order. After the waitress checked, she said the cooks didn't make them because they didn't know they were part of the late menu (they have a different food menu late, and apparently the cooks don't even know their own menu). So we said okay and continued to wait. One order of fish tacos eventually arrived (2 tacos), and we assumed the next would follow so we each ate one. However, after waiting for another long time, we asked about our order again they said that they forgot we ordered two. Not only did our food come really late, we only got half of it. At this point we voiced our disappointment. The manager then came out and spoke with us and gave us a half-assed apology and still made us pay for the order, which cost $12!!! Any reasonable food business would of taken care of that meal for free. They chose $12 over customer satisfaction and losing customers for life. And not just us because we will definitely spread the word. read more

We got there and had to wait over 40 minutes before anyone came to see us and take our order. Once the waitress came she was very patronizing and once our drinks got there half of them were missing. One of our food order actually never came. The same mess happened at bill time where we had to wait another 30 minutes just to get our bills and they had applied an 18% gratuity on our bill. The waitress didn't even stay to charge us and we had to input our bills on the machine ourselves. I understand we were a large group but service was unbelievably terrible. Fox and Firkin is an OK chain of Irish bars all over the place (and starting to invade the States). Not the best bar you've ever been to but certainly not the worst. Good atmosphere and bartenders. Wings are good but for Honey Garlic wings, I except more garlic and less honey. read more

As one of the other reviewers, said the staff at this pub are great. It's got an OK selection of beers. I typically favor imports like Smithwicks and Guinness, which they have on tap, although the beer can be flat at times. Their food menu is good a pub. The nachos with spicy beef are especially good!
