I am an unbiased observer. I attended a recital at the request of a friend. There was some good…read moretalent but on the whole these children are not being trained in the graceful art of dancing but are just parading on the stage in gorgeous costumes with minimal talent and paying a lot to do that. I paid for two shows one at 1pm and one at 6:30pm. Many of the children were in at least two dances doing very little. Had they concentrated on one dance and learned it well they could have cut the show's length in half. The two shows had some of the same dances with the same music and dancers. The children all lip-synced to the music which in many cases was entirely inappropriate. A lot of the little girls about 9-14 years old did numbers that were sassy and suggestive and embarrassing. I felt like I was watching child exploitation. Later I learned there was a connection to Dance Moms and I realized I had been. I have danced myself and been to many recitals and never sat through anything so long, repetitive and except for a few dances, uninspiring. It was a very song and disappointing day. I would recommend that this may be a place to find out if your child likes to dance and what genre but if you want a trained dancer go somewhere else. This is really a place to pay a lot of money to see your child up on a stage in a beautiful costume and that is all.
