Not your average record store! Darkside Records is a must visit if you're in the Hudson Valley…read more Justin is awesome and the whole team is friendly, and super knowledgeable without being 'record store pretentious.' The new space is unreal and holds countless vinyl records, CDs, video games, DVDs, VHS, etc. along with so many cool products ranging from swag and gifts, to cannabis equipment and incense. Darkside has a great website to place orders in case you can't stop in in person. Even as a local, I place preorders online for new music, and always can rely on them to have what I'm looking for, including indie-exclusive pressings and vinyl variants. As a loyal customer for nearly 11 years, it's been great to see this business grow into what it is today. Excited for what this new chapter brings to them, and our community. The new Darkside is more than just a storefront, but a community and a VIBE! Soon, it looks like they'll have self pouring taps for customers, as well as a bar on the second floor. Hoping they'll continue to have concerts in the new space. A must visit!

There really aren't words to describe it at all,…read morenothing I can say here with these words from my human brain can even come close to personifying the feeling of being here and seeing this art. It's more than just art. It's profoundly profound. You will leave here a different person. I honestly don't even want to post pictures because you need to just go for yourself.

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors was an interesting spot in the Town of Wappinger. It is basically an…read moreart museum featuring psychadelic art that they readily admit was inspired due to trips on LSD and other drugs. Also, the main artist is Alex Grey who for a long time has done artwork for the band Tool. I think at first the art seems very impressive and trippy, but after a while it all starts to feel the same. There is a cafe on site but I did not visit as the building it was housed in asked you to take off your shoes and it was snowy the day I went. At 20 dollars it feels a bit expensive but overall I am glad I went. That said, some detractors online have called the place "a cult" and the vibes I felt were a little weird. I don't use the term lightly, but just going to state what others have said. Apparently they also have once a month events (around the full moon?) that neighbors have described as very loud. So definitely some negative reports on them not being the best neighbors. In short, worth a visit to check out the art, but not sure about some of the other programming.
