Went on a weekday--absolutely beautiful farm! Strawberry picking was incredible, both in quality of the fruit and the view from the fields of the Hudson valley. Inside was quaint and had plenty jams and preserves. Entrance fee was cheaper due to the day of the week, but for a two person excursion it felt worth it! read more

We had such a fun time rambling over the orchard and picking our own stuff. It's a really well run operation. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We took a Lyft back to the train station, and the folks running the welcome stand at the orchard brought us free bottles of water and chairs to sit on while we waited. How amazing is that? They went above and beyond. Also, when we settled up in the store for our haul of nice fruit, the staff was kind and lovely and welcoming. Definitely going back!!! read more

Not recommended. Website doesnt say anything about strollers. I have 2 toddlers and an infant. They let us go all the way down to cherry picking section only to be informed at the entrance of cherry picking that " no strollers allowed" . I told them keep our backpacks and whatever u need just let us keep the stroller coz the infant was sitting in it. They claimed for "safety" and " so we dont steal cherries". What safety? I have 2 toddler and they wanted to hold my infant in my hand while we do cherry picking! U people think you work at the UN. U need to relax. Its a farm with vegetables.​ read more

On the best apple-picking farms I ever ventured too! The orchards have so many healthy delicious looking apples to pick! So man varieties . You will receive a map to help find the area of each different type of apple with a description of taste. I attended a birthday party here and this was such a great experience. If you plan to do more than apple picking You need to go EARLY (like when they open) or LATE (like later in the afternoon). If you go anytime after 1PM, you are asking for waiting in crazy long lines. The Good: Entrance with parking is only $5. Also! 1. The best-tasting apples of any apple picking I have ever experienced. Maybe it is old-growth trees (they have thicker trunks than I am used to) or just simply amazing land management, but wow = simply delicious apples. I normally don't buy bags of apples or pumpkins but to taste and purchase 1 or 2 is good enough for me, no need for the extra I'm mostly there for the experience, pictures and most of all for my friends kids who actually love all that stuff. 2. That they actually have awesome festivals + other activities (corn maze) 3. Apple cider doughnuts, homemade honey warm and yummy 4. There is actual space to sprawl out in the era of COVID 5. I came here one weekend in October (post Covid) with my family & we really enjoyed ourselves. There is a entry fee which is $5, which I had no problem with. If you want to use a wagon it's $10 but upon returning you get back $5, so it's really $5. They have food such as pizza, paninis, fries, donuts (the cinnamon apple cider donut is a must try) hot dogs & a few other things. I really wanted to try their frozen apple cider, but unfortunately the machine wasn't working. My family & I also purchased a half gallon of apple cider & that was good too. The farm is huge with a variety of apples & veggies. They had apples I didn't even know existed! I was really happy to see their veggie selection which included kale, swiss chard, spinach, broccoli, mustard greens & peppers to name a few. There were signs at the front of the trail way & staff that can assist, so you know what direction things are which was helpful because the map was a little confusing & also didn't have where the peppers were located, but the young lady who gave us a map, marked it on ours, when I inquired about it. I have co-workers who went apple picking & mentioned there was barely any apples, but that wasn't the situation with Lawerence Orchard. Overall my family & I had a good experience & if we go apple picking in the future, it would more than likely be here. My sister went apple picking at another location prior & didn't have a good experience, so I'm happy we all were able to enjoy it here. Wow! This supposedly family friendly farm is completely tone-deaf to any sound other than the cash register "ching!!" If you've picked more apples than $27 will buy, do you really need to be shamed by the "customer service" staff in front of everyone? With apples all over the ground, do you need the "customer service" team to remind you that other people don't want to buy the apples that you picked? When my friend suggested going strawberry picking, I'm game. It's 73 miles -- that's kind of far. Let's enjoy a day away from the city. Notes: 1) There is an admission fee of $3/person in the car. Example 2 people = $6. 2) The cardboard baskets to hold the fruit cost $1/each. If you bring the cardboard basket back, you save $0.50. Might want to bring saran wrap to protect the cardboard since the juices of the fruit will damage the basket. 3) Absolutely no pets allowed -- see signs though there are 3 dogs that belong to the farm. My friend called the location and they answered all her questions and were friendly. They open 9AM-4PM daily. You can't missed the big sign when you head to the farm. Drive up to the booth where the employee collect the $3/person admission (under 2 is free) fee and inquires if you have any pets. If you are nearby, you might consider getting the season pass. There are guides to direct you where to park. Afterwards, you head to the farmhouse. This past weekend, strawberries ($5.99/lb) are in season and still might be good this weekend. Check with the staff where the best location to pick strawberries. We are advised to go to field 3. The strawberries are small when you walk to the strawberry patch. Keep going. When you get to the middle, you will be rewarded for your efforts. There is a range of different strawberry sizes - large, medium, small - and different colors - unriped (whitish-green) to fully ripen (dark purple). You might want to bring a light jacket, hat or sunscreen, which I forgot all of it since you are outside. It was fun picking strawberries though keep in mind you will be kneeling. Find the right strawberries take time and don't forget to cut your nails so you don't stab the fragile skin of the strawberries. Snap Peas, spinach, lettuce and other produce are $3.99/lb and available for picking. If you get hungry, don't forget to check out their kitchen. You order in 1 window, food comes out at a second window. Listen to your order #. Strawberry shortcake was so good fresh strawberries and whipped cream what what do you need. Pizza was really good too - plain pizza. The pies and donuts look good. There is also ice cream, shake, sundae and nuts. Don't forget to your jars of fresh fruits spread (good for 2 years in a cool and dry location; refrigerate after opening which is good for 6 months), preserves, fruit butter, and jams! Very nice atmosphere at this farm close to Mohonk resort and Lake Minnewaska. The New Paltz area is really a hidden treasure as is a lot of upstate NY with its clean environment and nature. I was surprised to see the mixed reviews of Lawrence farms. Having picked apples and pears and pumpkins at (almost) too many farms to count since my son was born, this place was by far the best. It's got it all. Reasonable prices - $2.00 a pound for any variety apples you pick or $30 to fill a big bag. Ample supply of quality apples including fuji and honey crisp. Some of the other farms I've been to we picked apples just for fun. The actual apples were of the let's give them away at work variety. The apples here at Lawrence farms orchards are delicious. Probably better than I could get at any Trader Joe's or "new crop" apples at costco. In addition to the delicious apples there was a lot of other fun stuff at Lawrence farms - pumpkin picking with a nice hill to run up and overlook the area, and an animal feeding area. It was like 2 Hour drive at least I don't know who's idea was it to go here when we could've gone somewhere closer out on Long Island. Great we are here and I have never in my life had to pay an entrance fee for apple picking. I came here to shop basically why would you charge me?! Here they charge you $5 per person we had five adults and one child that's a $30 entrance fee. They give you two dollar coupon for each person after paying the entrance fee. LOL I am just here to eat some food they were selling (because it's like 1 PM and I didn't eat all day) and they still charged me :( I got to admit they have one of the best tasting french fries!! And they charge a fee for wagon too... hahaha my brother said it's a maintenance fee they have to maintain it and my family we all were laughing All in all we were hot and sweaty but it was pretty good time. We got some Fuji apples 20 pieces of corn $.75 per one and some grapes. I think we spent good $200 here in two hours. I smelled the grapes in a bag and it was so sweet really really sweet happy sweet lol This place was quite awesome all people were quite friendly I would've given them five stars except the rental fees of wagon baskets and entrance fee, to customers who's shopping at their farm?!!! I'm baffled by the low yelp rating. I LOVE this place and have twice driven an ho ur to get there. It is HUGE, with so many different varieties of fruits and vegetables. I went in July, and November 2, and they had so much to choose from both times. The fruits and vegetables have been delicious. It is great for kids -- They have an area to buy food for a quarter to feed ducks and goats. My daughter loved it. They also have a little village of many little Woden buildings for kids to play in. They also have two huge dogs that my daughter loved. They have a shop with treats to buy, like apple cider donuts, and a picnic area to eat outside the shop. The grounds are beautiful - you can see nature for miles all around. I wouldn't rate the food five stars, but would five stars for everything else. read more

What a great place! We picked delicious peaches and Asian pears though it was too early (mid August) in the season for anything other than tart apples. Admission is $5/pp including for children. We could have used clearer directions we realized as the map was confusing and we walked around lost for a bit. We had a tasty lunch on their back patio with gorgeous views of the rolling hills. Best PYO farm I've been to!! I had little expectations before coming here and was surprised to see how expansive the orchards were. Not only were there 20+ different types of apples here, but there were also grapes, raspberries, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, sweet peppers, corn, bok choy, napa, and more. On top of that, the farm area sells different types of produce and items, and they have the most delicious donuts and apple cider...totally irresistible. Everything in season (and their respective prices) are written on the chalkboard outside the farm. The cost of PYO produce definitely adds up, but for how fresh the fruits/vegetables are, it's so worth it! Plus, I got to harvest my own humongous cabbage straight from the soil. How many people can say they've harvested a cabbage before? I was initially worried that there wouldn't be any good apples left in early October, but there were so many that were unpicked and in perfect shape. My group's favorites were the Acey Mac and Fuji apples for snacking, but there were also a lot of tarter apples that would be great for baking. My friends and I had an awesome autumn day here, coupled with a trip to Storm King afterwards. Definitely stop by if you're in the area! read more

Didn't have the greatest impression for this grape picking experience from this orchard. First, we messaged the orchard on Friday, 09.11.20 asking if grape picking was available for Sunday, 09.13.20 and they replied yes. In addition, we even checked the site as well and it indicated yes as well. Upon our arrival Sunday morning at 10am, we noticed the board indicated grape picking very few available. We then asked why, the staff working there indicated that there was a deep freeze March/May, which killed half the crops. If this was the case, they could have been honest in the message sent indicating very few available for grape picking. We drove two hours to have just one handful after searching over an hour. We visited for the first time this past weekend (mid-June) to pick strawberries. We arrived early at 9:30am and had no trouble parking or anything, though there were a good amount of cars already in the parking lot. The grounds are very large and beautiful. There were lots of strawberries to pick in the two open patches. There were a good amount of leafy vegetables (lots of swiss chard, some lettuce, spinach), but none of the ones we wanted (bok choy) left. After picking, we had a delicious cider donut at the concessions stand. They had actual bathrooms which was a nice amenity, and they were clean. They also have a farm store (which due to covid you had to order at a window and someone gets it for you). The play village looked fun, but it was closed due to covid. By the time we left around 11am, the parking lot was full. My only complaint is that it was quite expensive. They charge $5 per person to get in, $1 for each box for picking (can't bring your own), and then the strawberries were $6/lb. Cash only. I guess it was a nice experience, but this won't be my first choice next time. It felt like I was being nickled and dimed. read more

I finally got to go fruit picking! Hubbie and I trekked out to the farm to pick some strawberries, but unfortunately a lot of their crop was damaged due to crazy rain the week before. We were still able to pick a small carton full :o) We also picked our own romaine lettuce (a first for me) and it was HUGE! We could have salad for weeeeeks. We took the tractor ride out to the cherry trees and picked some cherries too. This is a great place for kids...they even have a little village where the kids can play. Animals include goats, ducks, and horses. They have a little store that sells homemade jams, jellies, hot sauce, etc. We bought the strawberry rhubarb jam...hope it's good! If we go back we will definitely pack a picnic so we can enjoy lunch on the grass! read more

A long haul two hour drive for a Meetup, but well worth the trek for post-Hurricane Irene and pre-Labor Day holiday. Their web site flashed a status update stating their crops were unaffected by the wrath of Hurricane Irene. Lawrence has a good selection of crops for picking year round: apples, pumpkins, peaches, grapes (green and blue/black), sweet bell pepper, hot pepper, sweet corn, nectarine. Wagons are available for rental at $5.00 (with $3.00 returnable deposit). Facilities are actual porcelain thrones, unlike most farms are spawn from portable potties. Private parking is available, of course. A manual well pump for fresh water which tastes of mineral water. Fruit or vegetable by genre is sold by the pound which is extremely pricey for my seven pound of peaches at $2.99 totaled a dismal $23.80. Yes, this farm accepts credit and debit cards for payment. Furthermore, they have actual business cards unlike most farms only have brochures which it now goes to my gargantuan collection of business cards! You know, I used to love coming here to pick my own fruits and veggies. It was like a little hidden gem, and more cost effective for fresher produce than the grocery store. Today I spent one hour there, after paying $20 admission for two people. I guess it would have been cheaper to go mon-thurs. (It used to be $10 for the whole season) I got a few pounds of cherries and 8 peaches and some nuts totaling over $100 dollars. They seem to be catering to the city crowd, and while I'm happy to see them succeed it's really disappointing to lose a place I once loved to visit to capitalism. And before you respond saying we didn't follow all the rules, we did. And our experience still sucked. It was just a lot nicer when there was the one guy with the two big dogs here everyday. read more

Barren is the word I'd use to describe this place. I was looking to pick more than just apples and heard great things about this farm from a friend but was disappointed about the actual produce available. Most of the good stuff - apples, grapes, and raspberries were gone upon arrival today, which makes sense as this place was super busy. That's great for business but a turn off when you're looking for a low key quaint kind of day. My gripe with this place revolves around not finding great fruit. There were still apples around but most of the good ones had been plucked. We did have luck in the Fuji Apple section so worth checking that out. The grape vines didn't contain much. The grapes that were left were unripened. The raspberry section literally had no raspberries left on the vines. Not sure when these sold out but there was a woman by the section diverting people else where. Finally, there were pears but they weren't too sweet. Overall, this farm was a bummer especially since we drove an hour and half to check it out. There are some pros about this place -- the staff is really friendly and helpful; the lunch options (chicken tenders and fries) are fresh and delicious; and finally, the apple cider donuts when fresh are really good. This place has really took a turn! They now charge $10 PERPERSON! No bag credit or anything so if you bring a family of 4 it's $40 to just get in! Then they charge $38 per bag or per pound. They don't have the sunflower field open it's just wild growing all over and you can't pick them. The houses are not updated still the same ones from 12yrs Ago. This was the most fun farm I've been to so far for apple picking. In addition to apple picking, they offer grape picking, pumpkin picking, and vegetable picking. My group went on Oct. 8th. Some of the apple trees were stripped, but there were still plenty of apples left. There is a $3 entry fee per person which you pay before you drive your car inside. They don't have the long sticks you use to reach the higher apples. It's also 50 cents for bag, free plastic bags for vegetables, $1 for a box for grapes, and $5 to rent a wagon. When you return the wagon, you get $3 back. You can also return any unused apple bags and grape boxes to get your money back. They display the available apples and vegetables on a blackboard near the area where you purchase bags. The farm store does not have as much pies, other baked goods, jellies, and other produce as other farms I've been to, but they do still have a selection of things. This includes apple cider donuts, which is a must when you go apple picking and gallons of apple cider. I think the donuts we got were not made fresh, but they were still delicious. They offer plain, cinnamon, and sugar covered apple cider donuts. On the farm, they also have three large but extremely friendly mastiffs and lots of ducks on the pond. I believe they also have some goats, horses, and chickens too. For the apples, they have 25 varieties of apples. My favorite was the Acey Mac. I wish I knew where to get those. They were the best apples I've ever had. I'm sad my huge stash is now gone as I write this review. I tried to find them at the Union Square Green Market and I found them labeled as Spartan apples, but they weren't as good as the ones on this farm. I'll have to come back again next year just to pick those apples again. After we picked our fill of apples, we went to try to pick some grapes and vegetables. The Niagara grapes are absolutely delicious. They're so incredibly sweet, but unfortunately the vines were already pretty much picked bare. I guess Oct. is late in the season for grapes. They had plenty of concord grapes leftover, but those were not as good as the Niagara grapes. After grapes we headed over to their vegetable patches which was just as fun as pick your own apples. They offer so many varieties of vegetables including but not limited to cabbage, napa cabbage, kale, bok choy, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, tomtillos, beets, zucchini swiss chard, corn, brussel sprouts, and more. The vegetables are also so cheap. I picked a huge head of cabbage and an even larger head of napa cabbage both for $2.50 each. Picking cabbages is a sight to see. You have to pick twist and pull the entire plant from the ground and remove the head in the middle afterwards. I recommend it if you haven't picked cabbage before. I really can't wait to come back next year again to pick those amazing Acey Mac apples. I'll be dreaming of them until I can eat them again. read more

It is with a heavy heart that I give Lawrence farms 2 stars. 5 years ago, I LOVED this place and would have given it 5 stars. Since then, I have gone back on a nearly annual basis and things have deteriorated slowly but surely. $3 per person entrance fee. Why? Because people eat the fruits and are wasteful? Perhaps a price per car entrance fee would be better because coming with a family of 4 meant shelling out $12 right off the bat. Prices for the produce are ridiculously high. Why? I don't know, but expect to pay high end organic food prices for regular nonorganic food. For example, kale is $4/lb, peaches $4/lb, plums $9/lb, and raspberries were so ridiculously expensive that I forgot the price. Inspectors. There are some reviews saying that workers follow you and watch what you pick, eat, etc. I didn't notice this, but there were people around to help direct you to the right produce patches. I didn't find them too overbearing. Upon purchase of the produce they out a sticker in your bag, then when you head towards your car, there are people there to inspect your bags. If you happen to have brought a purse, picnic bag, etc, they will inspect it. Why? People stole produce? So while some of the new practices are understandable and perhaps the customers were to blame (people must ave been wasteful and there must have been people who took stuff without paying), but it has just ruined the experience for me, especially given the fact that the produce is so expensive now. I'd rather go to whole foods and buy from the organic section now. There are other farms. This is still the only farm I know with such a wide variety of produce. It's a one stop shop and if you have kids 3 and under (admission is free) you can picnic and make a day trip of it and still enjoy it. But if you are like me and you just want fresh fruit, go to a farmer's market instead. read more

But good luck picking anything at all since they're pretty barren. We called ahead and drove 1.5 hours to pick cherries as they told us the season starts today for them. To our disgust, we found nothing. The trees were absolutely empty. If the cherries weren't rotten, they were tasteless. It all started when we pulled up and learned they raised the entrance fee from $2 to $5. I asked why the price increased to the already agitated woman working and that's when things turned into a negative experience before even parking the car. She explained there was an incident where somebody tried to steal $30 worth of picked items and there was a confrontation. As a result, they had to raise the price. I mentioned this seemed a bit extreme. We had 4 people in our car so it costs $20 before leaving your car. She said in a not so customer friendly tone "my manager is right down there, if you have a problem with the price, go complain to her about it". I guess this is why the parking lot was nearly empty prime time on a beautiful Saturday. In the past, the lot would already be filling up and crowded. The whole experience just felt like we were being nickel and dimed. Everything cost extra...from a basket to put your picked fruit in, to even feeding the goats and ducks. We put in a quarter at the feeding machine and I think 5 kernels of corn came out. My 2 year-old son LOVES running around their little village but now with the increased price just to get in, it hardly seems worth it. They have a little train that goes around in a small loop. They even charge for you to take a 2-minute ride...way to take the fun out of the experience. It's sad that such a fun time is ruined by feeling overcharged for everything. Let's just say I take my family out a lot and this was the worst experience ever! The manager/ owner whatever she wants to call herself needs a reality check! She has zero respect for customers. I don't know what world she is living in but there are plenty of other farms out there with better quality, customer service, and prices. With her nasty attitude she might as well close that farm because anyone who has to interact with her, will never go back! And I guarantee you that! A good farm you can go to is Prospect Hill Orchards! So many options out there, don't waste your money on a farm that doesn't appreciate customers! I would never go back there and that is the last place I'd recommend to anyone. First they make you pay $10 to get in per person, then the prices are RIDICULOUS! While the concept is nice to have a little play area and food stand, the market place is terrible and the people who run the farm are super rude and awful. Really takes away from the whole experience. They charge you $5 per person just to get on the property. Then you need to pick your own on everything .... Except the quality sucks and there was not much to pick. As an example, peach season is $3.99 per pound to get unripe, little peaches that have no fragrance whatsoever. Way way over priced for the quality of fruit. I would not waste time coming here unless you're ok to pay $5 just to pet a few animals and walk around. read more

I came here with the family for apple and vegetable picking and everything was very fresh and ripe. The staff was very friendly. The only gripe is the prices are very high. There is an admission fee of $5 per person. Vegetables are $4.99/lb and a bag of apples is $38. read more

Had a pretty fun time here over the weekend. It's $3pp admission. We came with a large crowd to go apple picking and I was surprised they had a whole lot more varieties including grapes, pears, veggie patches, corns, peaches, cherries, pumpkins and etc. My absolute favorite were the black table grapes that tasted like wine. Must go for their apple cider donuts too! Things to consider: 1) Maybe have a few trash cans around for the half bitten apples? There were areas that had a pungent rancid odor while i was passing by. It kinda grossed me out to see everyone throwing half eaten apples all around the place. 2) Come before mid-September. I really wanted to get a bunch of the bi-color sweet corns but they were mostly harvested already. In fact, most of the peppers, cabbages, corns, and grapes were gone when we went. 3) I know the produce are fresh from the farm, but I found the prices very expensive. The leftover corns were 60 cents each and the apples came out to maybe $1 each. But nonetheless, It was a cool experience. I would come back when the place is not picked dry. read more

Overrun by tourists. When I went, there were screaming babies and children running around everywhere. Since this is one of the closest orchards and farms to the city, it attracts hoards of NYC tourists. The produce was dirty, unkempt. The soil was dry and rocky. The walking areas were covered with weeds and other plants, often blocking passageways. The staff was unfriendly and focused more on making sure you knew the rules of the farm and the prices of the fruits and vegetables than anything else. Even the fruit looked bad. Half of the cherries were contaminated with disease and dark, rotten spots. A woman remarked to me as I was examining these, "Come more over this side. We have less rotten fruit this way." WHAT? I can't believe that I heard that. Lettuce was dusty. Beets were trampled on. Currants were picked dry. I actually drove another 45 minutes up north more, to Mead Orchards, where everything looked pretty and neat, all the produce and fruit looked super appetizing, and the people were ultra friendly. read more
