A little taste of NOLA, out of a NJ based food truck! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I've been wowed! The best jambalaya I've had since I last went to New Orleans 10+ years ago. A little bit of heat, but not too much. The key as always is the rice--perfectly tender, capturing so much flavor. Both the chicken and sausage were well executed. Just a pint of deliciousness! An exceptional gumbo, in a rich brown stock, with a similar sausage and chicken combo to the jambalaya, with its own tender rice added in. A little hot for gumbo today--this would be perfect on a chilly winter's day. Mmm, mmm, good! Last but not least, an exceptional beignet! Not quite on the level of Cafe Du Monde, but those are in a class by themselves. These, along with a cup of coffee, would be the ultimate cure for a hangover. A fine dessert. A better breakfast. I can't wait for this truck to return!

Best wings I have ever had. Delicious and Juicy! Also their shrimp and sausage was awesome with the grits and this is coming from someone who grew up in Georgia. Great food truck operator as well!

    Bahn Mi extraordinaire

Had the Bahn Mi sandwich today. OMG this is possibly the most awesome sandwich I have ever had. Savory and spicy with the perfect balance of after heat. Super!

Traveled 30 minutes to get to the truck. Had the gumbo and jambalaya. Food was great. Served hot and fast. I ordered the Gumbo and was given a sample of the Jambalaya. After the sample I was sold. Ordered Jambalaya. My wife had the Po' Boy. She loved it. Definitely will re-visit.

Awesome cajun in an area where it's difficult to find it. Gumbo and jambalaya were both dynamite.

Once you come in, I must add that the parking is quite limited, make sure you park in a safe spot. As u enter the restaurant, it gives u a proper seafood vibe. What we ended up ordering were Oysters, crab cakes which came with fires, Calamari, seafood boil (one with old bay sauce and the other with Cajun seasoning) and Ofcourse the dessert- lava cake with vanilla ice-cream and some drinks. The best part? The seafood comes in a plastic bag with your choice of sauce. They do provide you the plastic bib, gloves and everything u need to indulge in your serving. The Cajun is absolutely delicious, it's spicy, hot and perfect for my kind of taste bud! Well it's not a perfect fancy date spot , but if you wanna get messy, get get going .. the Calamari, oysters, lava cake .. everything tasted perfect and I am going back there for sure.

At a Thai spot, I expect to see Thai people. At a Mexican spot, I expect to see Mexicans. You get the picture. So at this Haitian restaurant, there are always Haitians enjoying the food -- which tells you everything you need to know. If you're looking for an upscale yet still authentic Haitian restaurant, this is it. No matter what you order, they always start you off with a soup that's hot, rich, and flavorful. I usually begin with the Haitian caviar and smoked fish empanadas, then move on to either the Saveur Creole goat or the red snapper -- always with extra gravy, because I can't resist pouring it over their black rice (don't judge me). It's BYOB, so bring your drink of choice or grab something from the shop right next door. Another thing I love is that the owner, Robert, is usually there. He'll stop by your table, talk with you, and make the meal feel like a real experience. And if you admire the artwork on the walls -- he painted all of it himself. If you go, tell him I sent you... maybe then he'll finally sell me one.

Good flavors, but a few misses!!!…read more Hook & Reel has some solid Cajun seafood flavors, especially if you enjoy bold seasoning and messy, hands-on meals. The seafood boil was enjoyable overall, and the portions were decent for the price. That said, the experience felt a bit inconsistent. Some items were well-cooked, while others were slightly overdone, and the seasoning wasn't evenly distributed. Service was friendly but a little slow during our visit, and the dining area could have been cleaner. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're craving Cajun-style seafood, but there's room for improvement to make it a more reliable choice.

Yes, it's hot outside, but when kids are in the restaurant you still have to be considerate because they can easily get sick from it being too cold. Our server, Samantha E, acted like we were bothering her the entire time. Her attitude was off from the start, and anytime we brought up an issue she made it seem like we were the problem for speaking up. One thing that really bothered me was when our food had to be sent back. In any restaurant, if something is wrong and gets remade, customers should receive the full order back. Instead, she told us, "Well since you already took two to try, you only get four wings." That was completely unprofessional. On top of that, Samantha E kept turning around making remarks to her coworkers -- a dark skin girl with glasses and a Spanish girl with curly hair -- and they kept staring over at us while we were explaining our issue. We were not complaining just to complain; we had valid reasons. Overall, the experience made me wish I had just gone to get tacos like I originally planned. Samantha E seriously needs retraining on customer service and professionalism. and the seafood boils had no sauce we had to ask for extra sauce. They made sure we did not get charged but now since we left or since we paid. and in the picture above where you see the computer, they were standing right there, but since we paid they moved.

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.
