I love this store! It is the only place I buy seafood and they also carry prime cuts of meat. The employees are very knowledgeable about their products, the seafood manager is very courteous and professional. Their ready made items are a bit more pricey than the large chains but the quality is much better. I love the white wine rotisserie chicken. For me, Fresh Market is as good as it gets. I love this location as it's easy to get in and out. The meat department is my favorite as we practice the Paleo lifestyle. Good meat is so important and their selection is vast and extremely fresh. You can place orders for special cuts and fish. It truly is fantastic. Yes, you will pay more on some things verses Food Lion / HT, but you end up not buying the junk you typically would so the argument is now invalid! :) Wine selection is also very good! read more

This establishment doesn't even deserve a star. My family has ties to Davidson and have been purchasing groceries since the 1990's in this area. About 5 years ago as a young adult I began to contribute as well. My recent observations is based on current staffing . For past few months now I've observed the management at this location as frazzled. The merchandise reps hosted by this store have been neglected by the staff. No one is welcoming and warm because every seems like they have a fire lit underneath them. I feel sorry for the employees of this location. Fresh market has a great environment and product regarding organization and layout. At this location I've noticed no one seems passionate or content. A supervisor clearly wanted to take to find the solution to fix the problem and probably should have been a leading manager because she was the only one with the patience and concern needed for the position. She also showed a willingness to figure things out. Unfortunately, she was shut down by other management who would not even spend the time to speak to me upon request and was quick to completely disregard me. This is the same management I spoke to a previous day who promised the transaction would be resolved. My customer service issue regarded an undertrained employee who created a transaction error when rendering my latest transaction. Even the home office customer service was unwilling to spend time to find a resolution. The aura the recent customer service has given is that you don't matter and no one has time for you and they are unwilling to address any issues that they are directly responsible outside of throwing 25$ gift cards which I wouldn't accept since I no longer have interest to shop at the fresh market.. I'd advised that the management be replaced with people who can interact with customers who can show empathy like the supervisor and management is provided the staffing needed so the employees can have the time to be trained well and at ease . I rarely give reviews especially constructively critical ones. But I feel a duty to let people no to avoid any issues that arise from checking out. Let them restock and hire more people that they clearly need and provide jobs that are needed to those who are willing to be proper about these issues. read more

I have been going to this fresh market for several years. There has been a steady decline in food quality - the fruits are not fresh, some are bad or damaged. The deli quality has gone down...have to wait a long time due to employees socializing with each other. They don't want to deal with customers and are very rude. The sushi is old and I have gotten sick from it. The checkout line is a miserable place. They just want to throw things in the bag. I have had things break once I take them out of the bag. However, when you go to check out and actually give your money for the goods.. get ready to feel unwelcomed, unwanted, and feeling like you won't want to return. Way to pricey here. It's in a perfect location for the residents who live in lake Norman though. Normally the median income is on the higher side so it fits well and caters to that style of living. I almost want to give 2 stars but they have the best produce in the area so I think a 3 is appropriate. The staff just isn't helpful on a regular basis. And tonight that was especially so. They close at 9, and I walked in at 8:35, plenty of time to get what I needed. Many of the vegetables were already off the shelves to be put away, and some fruit stands were empty. Ok I understand it's slow...by possibly this is why. The butcher case was the same way and they seemed a little annoyed I showed up. I was nearing the register at 8:50 and remembered I needed oats, so I asked where they were. While one cashier fumbled for an answer another reminded they are closing soon. LOVE LOVE LOVE! They have the best produce around. They have a huge selection of organic, and I think it's the freshest, excluding perhaps the farmers market. And I love the premade meals. They save so much time and they're always healthy and delicious. They have things that you can't buy elsewhere, especially yogurts and frozen foods, things of that nature. I love the meat, although it may take some time to get your order, since it's not prepackaged. I don't go there for things like cereals and toilet paper, I buy those from Food Lion, where it's much cheaper. You just can't beat the variety and freshness available here. read more

Everything is frozen in the bakery, it appears to be fresh but it is frozen ... the bread french and sour dough comes in frozen blocks, thawed out then cooked. The cake loafs are made fresh, watch the dates. The meat is the same company that supplies Harris Teeter. Good Coffee and Candy selection with the best produce in town by far. Fresh market has many great selections. Their produce, beef, chicken and fish are all very good but high priced. Beware of the overpriced items which means almost everything. Watch the weekly sales to get a decent deal on good food. Their customer service is poor. I received a $10 coupon from them with a short 4 or 5 day window to use. I went on the last day but forgot my coupon. Took my coupon and my receipt the next day and the manager said the coupons are wiped from the system so he couldn't credit me the discount. Apparently no manager discretion. Really? Given the amount I spent there every month you would think they would care. Now I only buy things that are on sale and do my major shopping elsewhere. As a previous reviewer said "everything in the bakery is frozen." That is pretty much true. However, although there is a lot of frozen product, there are still some very good items if proofed and baked properly. For example, the croissants are the best in town. They blow away the ones from Amelies "French" Bakery. The FM rustic baguettes are great. The sunflower bread is fantastic. But again, it has to be proofed properly. The best bakers in that store are long gone. There is only one item baked from scratch there, the lemon bars. They are pretty good if they are made right. And if you want a decent Cannoli, they can do it, BUT... Do not buy the ones that are already filled (they may have been there for a couple of days). Ask them to fill the shells for you while you wait. So they claim to have a "Fresh Bakery" and it is not. It really should be called The FAKERY. One more thing, some of the coffee they sell in packages is Counter Culture. It is some of the best coffee on the East Coast. The Fresh Market is overrated and overpriced for the most part but if you are selective there are some worthwhile items to be found there. The beer selection is very lame. read more

This was my first time going in The Fresh Market. It seemed pretty dark, due to the lighting which made it slightly difficult for me to maneuver around the store and find anything I was possibly looking for. However, I enjoyed my first trip to this store. Their cooked foods they had in their deli sections (chicken wings, ribs, bakery items) looked absolutely delicious. I cannot wait to go back and try them. Being someone who is on a gluten free diet, this seemed like a decent place for me to shop. We've been hitting up Fresh Market weekly ever since discovering it a couple of months ago. It's an interesting grocery store that has a mixture of organic and regular groceries in it. Some of the stuff is quite a bit overpriced, but if you check weekly you will find some great deals that make it worth the visit. Fresh Market is an extremely clean and well-kept grocery store. The staff around are all very helpful and quick, especially the ones working the meat counter. The produce selection is quite extensive and delicious, but a bit pricey (you will rarely find any fruit under $1.89 LB.) The meat section is unique (as far as regular grocery stores go) in that there is no pre-packaged meat available, and everything is wrapped up fresh by someone at the meat counter. They have everything, from the usual suspects like beef and chicken to some not seen as often, including fresh ground turkey sausage and duck. The seafood is very expensive so we never buy that there, but there is usually some kind of chicken on sale. Also, they sell a very cheap boston butt pork that I buy and then ground up fresh at home to make sausage, burgers, tacos, meatballs or anything else. Having that fresh-ground taste is great and you can really taste the full-on pork flavor, making it a high-quality product at a very reasonable price. One word of warning...they do not have a ticket system at the meat counter so it may become a free-for-all, especially when it's a bit busy there (which it often is.) They also have a pretty big bakery/ dessert area with tons of sweet treats. My sister-in-law brought over a cannoli cake from there when we were celebrating a birthday and it was pretty spot on. We've also bought a few loaves of bread from them and they have all been crusty on the outside with a soft middle. Another thing I really like is that they offer a wide range of beverages. I was very impressed with their beer selection, which definitely offers the most craft beers that I've ever seen in one grocery store. Fresh Market is a pleasant shopping experience in a great environment. A few high prices here and there, as well as the confusion at the meat counter, stop this place from getting the full five-star treatment, but it's still definitely worth the visit. read more

I love this store for produce, fish and specialty foods (cheese, gourmet treats, etc). My husband enjoys the fresh made sushi. I wouldn't recommend buying your typical groceries here (such as juice, milk, cereal) bb/c they can be pricey but organic and local produce are well priced w/a great variety. I was frustrated the beef isn't organic but the butcher knows what he's doing and is full of helpful hints. The customer service is top notch (ie: pulling a Mary Poppins and escorting you to your car in the rain) aand they always have vendors w/wine and treat samples...nice! read more

The "unfresh" market. Very fancy and beautiful inside. Produce is okay but not a good organic selection. Meats look good but are iffy. Hard to find free range non-GMO fed grass fed etc.... Read the ingredients on the bread products. More chemicals and you can shake a stick at. You can find clean foods in here but you have to hunt. Most of the staff is very friendly. A lot of brightly colored candy at toddler hand and eye level makes it very challenging for parents or caregivers who need to come in the store. Free coffee is nice but it be really nice if they had real half-and-half instead of chemical creamer that causes breast cancer and all kinds of other diseases. i had delivery thru instacart! i got a rotten potato, moldy mushrooms, rotten carrots & a broth 3x the cost of the can i wanted! i called instacart to complain about the order that was dropped on my doorstep. instacart wanted pix of the items...really like i keep rotten veggies around that stink. what i expected from them was the same treatment i would have gotten from shipt. but no! i got a few cents back for each item...so here's want you get for $36 horrific referrals. never do business with terrible company. they take no pride in their delivery. my neighborhood finds groceries delivered to the sidewalk to where near where the address was to be delivered to! disgusting...i gave them a head's up that i would be writing a bad review...i hope the $36 is worth it read more

A very nice place to shop. The food was very fresh. I loved the salads at their deli. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and patient. The prices were very reasonable. The produce looks wonderful. We'll definitely make this a weekly encounter. (I'll still have to visit Harris Teeter or Publics for some items, but I do that anyway because Harris Teeter and Public do not always have what I need, so I end up going to both each week. Went this morning at 9:30 AM. Was planning on buying a muffin from the self-serve case in the bakery area but there weren't any bags! There were 2 people working in bakery so I mentioned to the guy there about NO bags. He came around to check as if he didn't believe me...really? Then he tells the woman working there and she said she would have to look for some. Really? I don't have time for this so I left. Why wouldn't that be one of the very first things they should have checked upon opening. Terrible customer service! read more

I visited this FM to compare it to the new on on Prosperity Church Rd. Customer service on the opposite end of the spectrum. At this store, no employee was actively positive in customer interaction. As a matter of fact, I couldn't even get any one in the bakery to look up and acknowledge me. Now that I think of it, no one acknowledged me. Customer service is better at the new store. It's true, TFM "bakeries" are not really bakeries but "thaweries" and "decorators" -- the challah bread is definitely frozen and -- very insulting -- is not kosher. I don't care if it's great for non-Jewish meals, if you are Jewish and you shop here, I can guarantee that the product is not handled correctly. I attribute this directly to a lack of cultural and religious understanding--or the desire to even understand it. read more

We love Fresh Market! Have been regulars there for more than 2-years since we found it. I'm loathe to give any kind of negative review since we've been so happy with the quality of the food, the friendly and helpful staff and the service. But you have to do much, much, better on your curbside pickup. Especially in this era of COVID. Several times we have arrived and followed the instructions on the App. to let the store know we are outside but the App. doesn't work. The App. will let us continue to shop, but not pick up... after our credit card has been charged for the purchase. When we call, the phone just rings and rings and rings. This happened over a 1 hours period. And, because my husband is COVID19 high risk, I don't want to go into the store. That's the purpose of having curbside pickup, right? So, an "A" for food quality, staff and service - inside the store - and a "D minus" for your curbside pickup. Because I need to pick a star, I'm giving you 3 - even though your curbside pickup merits none. read more

I ordered Thanksgiving dinner from here, knowing that I have had really good food from the deli before. It was really bad. The green beans were advertised as smoky with bacon...they were swimming in a watery, slightly buttery mix. They were awful. Same for the carrots that were supposed to be "glazed." The stuffing was not as good, but better than the carrots and beans. I was embarassed to serve to my parents and apologized to them. The ham tasted like it came from the elementary school cafeteria, as did the turkey. I cannot believe it! Sooooo disappointed. Worst of all, this meal would have never served 4 to 6 people.
