Fresh market has a great variety of fresh fruit, seafood, meat, deli and everything in between. They have great quality in all their products. You can also grab lunch there with their selection of meaty panini sandwiches and all types of prepared salads. They now also offer a self serve fresh smoothie machine that makes the best green drinks for a reasonable price! And you do t even have to tip the machine! I love this place but unfortunately it's a bit out of my price range. I do come for their specials and meal deals and also for lunch! The place is clutter free and well arranged I. A home style feel. I will not step foot back in this store! I placed curbside order only to have to go in due to having received someone else's. The last time I was given the wrong sides for my dinner. The one manager she took care of me instantly up front. I decided to try again for a third time I go in and not greeted only what can I get for you no smile no nothing just as if I was a bother! We were craving for sashimi grade salmon, it was hard to find in Winston Salem; the fresh market came to my mind, instead of ordering tens of a la carte from a Japanese restaurant, I asked the Fresh Market sushi station if he can cut me 40 pieces. I love how organized and clean the sort is, and all the options you have and everyone in the store was so nice especially in the deli, Ashley was such a great help to me. she let me try samples while trying to decide what I was going to get for a family outing, she also gave some great suggestions and what her favorites were! Worst turkey panini ever from Fresh Market. Normally they're great. This one looked like it was left over from yesterday. Bread stale, turkey crusty around the edges. Deli attendant about as crusty and stale as the bread and turkey. No offer to grill it. Didn't even cut in half. Have to think this is an anomaly, they're always better than this. read more

This market is the result of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods having a baby. The market itself is not huge but has a lot of unique options and I really enjoyed the variety in selection. My son has been coming here weekly for a month and they have specials on different days so look for them when you come in the door to take advantage of the reduced prices on those. I didn't get a lot, just came in to check it out but got a six-pack of beer which I was able to choose individual types to make it up for $10.99, Traders has something similar. There are local beers here too. They have pizzas they make which looked really good as well as a lot of fresh baked goods. Sign up with them to get further discounts and specials. read more

The raspberries were priced 2 for the price of one or $5.99. I bought one expecting the price to be about $3.00. I was charged $5.99. I complained to the manager and he said you have to buy two in order to get the special price. On-line this is clearly spelled out, you need to buy two to get the special price. We went here to order a sushi platter for Christmas, we met a friendly gentleman who came out to talk to us and asked us what we wanted. We didn't care for a certain sushi so we substituted for another one. So we asked If we could pick it up the next day at a certain time, SURE YOU CAN. So we arrived the next day they weren't there because they go to church on Sundays so an employee from the store. The presentation was on point and beautiful. It was 45.99 so reasonable for the amount we got, we would pay a lot more back home in Hawaii for what we got. read more

Currently living about 2 minutes away from this location, and I love to stop in here pretty much weekly now to pick up a treat or two. Their prices are rather expensive for the basic things, but they do offer quality that seems to be above average for the price. It's a nice ambience inside and deceptively big space, as it gets larger towards the back. They have different choices in wines and beers that I don't see elsewhere. They've also got a nice assortment of flowers, and their bakery area has some very nice quality sweets and savory breads as well. Even the basic rolls are delicious! I don't know that I would go out of my way to come here if I didn't live nearby, but I am happy to stop in every so often on my way home from work for picking up an odd thing or two. They have all the basics, but they also have better quality and more unique variety than other stores in the area. read more

Rude Clerk of the Month Award goes to the old man who apparently was sucking on a sour pickle before I got in line. I went early and had ONE item - fish for $18.04 and there was NOBODY in back of me in line. I had $9 in bills and brought quarters that I needed to get rid of...... When it was my turn I said, "I hope you need some quarters." NO verbal acknowledgement from Ichabod Crane, but I did get a dirty look from him. I laid out the quarters while he sneered and before he collected the change he announce, "Exxxcuuuuse me." (What was that for?) It always amuses me when the staff at a "better" store (?) chooses to treat the customer as less than. If you were doing so well, Crabby Appleton, you would be on the other side of the counter, instead of working as a cashier. And Fresh Market in Winston is marginal, not the great store they have in GSBO or some in South Carolina. It certainly isn't like the old location in Thruway. I wanted to thank him sarcastically for being so friendly, but I know that diminishes my energy. He's an example of why seniors get a bad rap and I am a vintage female of 71. read more

After reading Wendy N's review I knew I had to take a trip on over to Fresh Market. I am always looking for short ribs and I usually am only happy with the Kosher Rib Eye over at Trader Joe's so I couldn't wait to check out the wonder that is the Fresh Market meat counter. Walking into Fresh Market it did feel similar to Whole Foods but a bit more personal. I liked the ambiance! Some of the produce was decently priced others were a bit steep. The meat and seafood counter was great. I feel like I would probably go here just for the meat and seafood and then grab the rest of my stuff elsewhere. They had short ribs! I will have to check out the price at Whole Foods next time to compare. The cheese counter also had quite the variety. The employees here were really friendly and since the store is a bit smaller, I was able to get out of there pretty quickly. read more

I come here so much that I thought that I had already done a review. The fresh market is not my everyday store but I do come here for certain items. They have great sales on meat and fish. Their seafood is very fresh and of high quality. The meats are the same way. I try to catch them on sales which they have a lot of. They have a lot on Saturdays which is when I tend to go. Their bakery items are a little more than other stores but well worth it. I also enjoy their sushi which is the best supermarket sushi around. I buy their spices because they are sold in bulk and a lot less then the plastic bottles.Produce can be a great deal as well. I find their pantry items higher though. I really love the fresh market! I go here for my specialty items as their normal everyday purchases are more expensive than other neighborhood grocery stores. The produce is some of the freshest is town and they always have a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. I have bought fish here many times. The fish is always very fresh and has never disappointed. The fresh market brand black beans are organic and have the lowest sodium I've seen anywhere. They are so yummy. Just add garlic. Grocery shopping is one of my favorite things to do and the fresh market is one of my favorite stops on the tour. The staff are always nice and helpful and know where everything is. They usually always have samples at the register :) The fresh market chocolate chip cookies are the best ever. I avoid the bakery most days ;) Oh, the kale orzo salad is the best in town! read more

I get the same feeling in Fresh Market that I got as a kid in Toys R Us. Love it. Fresh food, gorgeous cut flowers, and the service is so far ABOVE friendly that you can't beat it anywhere! Buyer beware. This "FRESH" market sells expired and spoiled food in pretty much every department. Today the produce department was filled with rotten produce. Bakery items are often sold 1-2 weeks past their "sell-by" date. We have had food poisoning from their prepared soups. Such a shame as years ago this was such a nice store. But, for now, they have no business using the word "fresh" in their name and perhaps the whole place needs to be shut down by the health department. This review only pertains to ordering holiday meals online. My mother shops at this Winston-Salen store. I like to gift my mother with holiday meals that I order online and she picks-up from the store. Their payment policy prevents me from doing that, so I used their competitor, Whole Foods. Whole Foods allows me to pay online, of course. I cancelled this year's Christmas order with Fresh Market and placed it with Whole Foods, so my mother will be going there to pick it up and do whatever other shopping she needs to do there instead. I can't imagine why they would have a policy preventing me from paying for my order online. It's much more convenient that way, and safer re COVID by eliminating in-person transactions. One more thing, the online Fresh Market portal will fool you. I worked-up my Christmas order there, and when I expected the payment window to come up, the order had been placed, which would have required my mother to pay for her gift. There is also no obvious way to cancel an order there (!), so I had to call the store and work it out with them. Final note: the folks at the actual store are awesome! I spoke with Amanda, she spoke with someone else and tried hard to find a work-around. She was clearly distressed that she could not help me. Amanda is a star, she's the person who any company would want in customer service. Good hire, Fresh-Market, Winston-Salem! Now get your rocket scientists at corporate to pull their heads out other backsides and ditch that nutty policy. read more

It's been a year since I've been and I thought I would give them one more try. Never again will I shop at the Fresh Market on Robinhood Rd. Their prepared food section is disastrous! The short ribs and buffalo wings were so hard you could knock on a door with them. The stuffed cabbage was ok, however not worth $14.99 each! My fault for not paying attention when the cashier checked me out, I didn't realize I paid $40 for 2 stuffed cabbage, 6 wings and 4 short ribs. Both cold and hot selections were limited. I don't know if a busload of people bought out the dept before I got there since everything was empty or old. I used to love shopping at Fresh Market....never again read more

This used to be one of my favorite grocery stores to just go and splurge at, but for some reason this last year everything has just gotten terrible. The service, the food quality, etc. I recently went in to buy food (from the bar and the take away counters) and the chicken was overdone and the seafood was bad and smelled absolutely foul. If it was not for their delicious pillow cookies, fresh (behind the counter) food bar, build your own 6-pack section and wonderful assortment of fine cheeses I would never shop at THIS Fresh Market. Overall I tend to be more of a Whole Foods kind of girl; they have multiple hot bars, large salad bars, gelato, fresh made pizza by the slice, etc. I get that Fresh Market is smaller and more bare bones, which maybe it is going for? However my number one massive complaint is the service. I am so forgiving on mistakes, mishaps, what have you. But I am very hard on customer service because when you have experienced such astounding service at Whole Foods and occasionally Earth Fare, you kind of expect it from their competitor. I grew up a few blocks from this location and I am currently residing in W-S. I have been angered by the customer service I have received from this location more times than I can count. I once emailed FM directly complaining about it, thats how bothered I have been. From the people working the food bar acting like I am the most intrusive person alive when I order food, to the multiple issues I have had with the checkout people, to the wine lady acting like I am a measly peasant. I've been ignored while the cashier chatted with the bag-girl: no hello, how are you, did you find everything, that will be $18 or have a nice day, he just handed me my check. More recently a cashier got an attitude with me when I did not have my I.D. ready. I told her I am 25 and do not always get carded, I do not mind being carded AT ALL (I hope I do for several more years) I just sometimes don't so I did not have it out and ready. Her attitude was uncalled for and frankly embarrassed me. Needless to say I avoid this location but my dad loves the place and gives lots of his $$ to this store so I am sure I will be back. But it would be very awesome if management working on the level of customer service, I just want a chocolate pillow cookie and a apple cider beer, can't ya just take my money and fake a grin? read more

I personally like the fresh market better than whole foods. It's like a small European grocer. Though the varieties are not big here, you can definitely come here and get the basics and expect guaranteed quality. Once in a while they even have good sales, which you can't beat for the atmosphere and freshness. If I can afford to shop here more often, I would. read more

I love my Fresh Market! The Tuesday specials are my favorite- always a better deal than the local grocery store. They have the best ground beef- and they grind it daily on site from steak. Letter to the manager: I'm a regular patron who has frequented this store for the past 8 years, but I have been consistently disappointed by your customer service since day one. Therefore, I will no longer do my shopping at the Fresh Market. In addition, I will discourage as many of my friends as possible from patronizing this store. Yesterday, I stopped by this store to pick up a few items. I was not greeted by a single employee despite passing by at least 7 or 8 of them during my time there. They acted as if I and the other customers were unwelcome during their 'social hour.' The main activity of your employees appears to be having personal conversations on company time. When I attempted to make a purchase at the deli, I observed two employees socializing rather than actually working. By the time I left there was a group of 5 employees laughing and enjoying themselves as customers waited for service. Do you typically pay employees for doing absolutely no work? Every single one of the employees working in your store tonight were completely oblivious to the fact there were customers in their midst. Clearly, they also are oblivious to the fact their job entails "customer service," and when their customers decide to shop elsewhere, they'll all be looking for work. When you create job postings, do you put the phrase 'customer service' in the ad? I wonder. After five minutes of being ignored, one of your employees finally acknowledged I was waiting for help before begrudgingly assisting me. His attitude was lousy, just like that of every single one of his coworkers. To paraphrase the famous quote from the film, 'Cool Hand Luke,' what we've got here is a failure of leadership. Thus, the failure I observed tonight falls squarely on your shoulders. Fresh Market is not the only game in town. We have a vast array of choices -- Lowes, Harris Teeter, Trader Joes, Whole Foods -- just to name a few. So I have to ask you a simple question: Why would we, your customers, continue to subject ourselves to lousy customer service when we can go down the street or around the corner to an establishment that actually invests in its employees by giving them adequate training and teaches them the basics like how to treat customers in a professional manner? You have failed your employees as well as all of us. Your corporate headquarters will be receiving a copy of this email, and I hope they respond by firing you and your entire staff. By the way, your deli has a sanitation grade of 92 with a number of violations documented by the Forsyth County Health Department during its last inspection -- yet another reason Fresh Market needs to clean house, both literally and figuratively. read more

my experience at the fresh market was horrible . Deli service was pitiful , waited 15 mins for chicken salad , workers standing around talking , one was rude . Managers were no help ! They are very unorganized & unprofessional & this is not the first time. This Fresh Market is now on Robinhood. My buddie at work lives nearby and he keeps saying he's gonna stop in. So I went by today to check it out. Beautiful store. Hardwoods throughout. But dimly lit. I don't need a grocer to set a mood for me. Just show me what you got and I'll buy what I need. The meat and seafood department are wonderful AND for the most part affordable. But no crabs. Nowhere in WS can I find crabs. The rest of the store was so so. Prepared foods looked okay but way expensive. Dairy was mostly organic. Five dollar gallons of milk (Food Lion is 2.09). The grocery aisles were mostly what I consider specialty items. Sure they have the staples but they are all imported or private label which means $$$. The freshly prepared sushi did look good and prices were cheap. I'll probably go back to try that and the seafood but not much else. A can of green beans is a can of green beans and I couldn't care less if it's in a Fresh Market bag or a Food Lion bag. read more

I go to TFM at least once a week as I am a widow and find it is easier than cooking for one. However, I have to agree with Brittany L.'s remarks about the staff. Would it be too much for the checkout people to smile and look as though it is not a hardship to have to check out a customer? Most of the deli workers are friendly, but there are a few who pretend they don't see anyone waiting for service. Correct your staff problems and you will have the best market in town. read more

I have shopped at the Winston-Salem Fresh Market for 20 years. Once a great place to shop, my recent visits have been more and more disappointing. Maybe it's time to find a new place to shop. On two occasions in the past couple of months, while shopping for cheese, I saw visible mold on the cheese for sale. This past Sunday, there was no one to staff the bakery, so the guy from the meat department and the guy from the deli were taking turns leaving their own departments empty while they served the bakery customers. There were customers waiting at all three areas. Staffing was also scarce at the checkout lanes. Today, there were multiple empty bins in the bread area, leaving very few choices for customers. Hey management -- wake up! It's time to staff your store and be accountable for the product you are selling!
