I really enjoy shopping in this store. A little pricy but everything is so special that it is worth it. I picked up a Blueberry Shortbread for $10 and it was moist and yummy. Staff was friendly and explained why they do not have a variety pack of cookies. They have some delicious looking cookies but I would like to see two of three different kinds in one package. She said it was due to allergies but I think they could still figure it out. Or have a sample dish out so we can try them. You can never go wrong with Friendly Market! When I visit Morehead City I do make multiple trips. Everyone is always so nice and the vibe is busy but fun. The food and wine selection is out of this world. This time we tried the dill chicken salad for the first time and it was so fresh and yummy! They have a great range of wines, from surprisingly not expensive to "that might be out of my price range" but I have to try it. I saw some of the Christmas trees and they have every size, skinny, medium or full- you can find your perfect tree at Friendly Market. Can't wait to go back so we can try a new salad, dip or dinner. This place never disappoints! Came for tomato pie that the bakery makes but picked up several things! Got some gourmet popcorn flavored was Mexican street corn and a bag of ready to make shrimp and grits. They have lots of ready made meals to bring home or take on patio eat and enjoy the weather. Yes, they really are friendly, inside where they sell all kinds of prepared foods, plus wine and snack foods, and outside where a delightful Gal has a small farmer's market with produce, seafood and lots more. Stopped on the way to Atlantic Beach, picked up Crab Dip, locally made tortilla chips, a bottle of wine, and some tomatoes, jalapeno and garlic to make salsa. All very good! Crab dip is so good, I had to get more to take home to Husband. And who wants to cook when they get home from vacation? Not me, not when this place has done the cooking for me! Took home two soups for lunch for the next two work days. The Killer Clam Chowder is indeed killer! It's not New England nor Manhattan style, but a killer style of its own jam-packed full of flavor and tender clams. The Roasted Red Pepper and Smoked Gouda Soup was really good also. Many of their prepared foods come in various sizes. The medium Chicken Pie was perfect for the two of us. We got two dinners and a lunch for Husband out of this $10 pie! They have a nice variety of dessert pies also, but I chose a small Tiramisu for Husband and he loved it. He also agreed that the Crab & Artichoke Dip was fantastic. This store also sells plants and herbs outside. Highly recommend you bring a cooler with you, the bigger the better, to travel home with as many goodies as you can carry! This may be my favorite place on the east coast... who doesn't love incredible food, homegrown NC finds, and plants all in one place?! I haven't had anything that I didn't love from here... their blue collard dip is our FAVORITE THING EVER, their tomato pie is incredible, the shrimp and grits are unforgettable, the chicken salad is a MUST TRY. I love that they premake pies/entree's so on a busy school night all you have to do is pop it in the oven. Their baked goods are amazing as well. This is truly the most beautiful prepared food market I've ever been to. Absolutely delicious pies, sauces and jams galore, delightful little salads and everything fresh, fresh, fresh. The space is airy and open and you see right into the kitchen, which gives that added confidence when everything is made in house. The food is fresh, but lacks flavor. It tastes like they don't have any seasonings (even salt) in the kitchen. You can't eat here which is weird considering the LARGE porch built on the front that they want people to sit at. I received a gift certificate for Christmas and decided to run in and use it for our supper on a busy day. Needless to say I was not impressed, the chicken pot pie was just ok and was too sweet to my liking. I also bought the crack pie and it was so dry it crumbled when I tried to cut it. I tried to microwave it thinking it might soften it some just got harder and I threw it away. I tried a small container of the promise land chicken salad and it tasted old also got thrown away. When I got chicken salad this week I noticed it had chunks of chicken back in it. It tastes the same but is a little drier. I wish you could return to the method you had changed to. I love your chicken salad and buy it every week. I had to add mayonnaise to the chunky kind as I have trouble swallowing and the mayonnaise changes the taste. Out of town from Greenville spending a quiet weekend at the beach; figured we'd pick up a couple of ready made meals to take home from their already fixed heat and eat case. Shrimp 'n grits - really just so so. There was absolutely nothing special or worth the price about this dish in our opinions. Also picked up one with noodles and beef, some type of their version of Beef stroganoff, also a big nope. Crazy salty to a fault and mostly just dry noodles. Hard Pass on both. And the sweets! Ready made cookies were super undercooked. Yuck and O. Honestly not sure what the hub bub about this place is; hubs and I found it pretty lacking and very "touristy' overpriced to boot; go to HappyCakes in Morehead City for some really excellent sweets. read more

They have a wide variety of snacks (e.g. cheese straws, chips & salsa), drinks, baked goods (the cookies are to die for!), and refrigerated meals (made in-house). There is a focus on North Carolina-made products, which I love. Staff members are always super friendly and very helpful. I've also ordered flowers for my mom from the nursery, and the plants have always been beautiful.
