This place is super vibey, I came here with my teen cousin and she seemed to fit right in with all the employees. We came back multiple times on our vacation! Wow their coffee is strong! I expected it to be super sweet but it was surprisingly espresso forward, by far the best coffee on the isle. Bowls were quite tasty, if expensive for the size. They had a lot more variety than you'd usually find. I'd recommend trying the coconut base or blue wave base instead of açaí. I've had acai bowls in Brazil, Australia, and all over the U.S. I ordered the Sol Bowl (acai topped with granola, almond butter, blueberries, bananas, and strawberries). Delish. The almond butter was the best part -- haven't seen that on my acai bowl before -- I'll definitely be adding that to my acai when I have some at home. If you're looking for an amazing snack or breakfast, this is the spot for you. ***LOCATION*** This beachcore health food shop is located in a tiny strip mall in Emerald Isle. You can bike there and enter from the bike path (there is a bike rack) or you can drive and park your car in the lot in the back. ***EXPERIENCE*** We came here because my friend's Mom adores this spot. It's a local spot that uses the best and most delicious ingredients. You can guarantee quality here. There is a lot of seating available inside and some spots outside. This place gets packed, but it's totally worth the wait. You order and pay up front then wait for them to call your name. I'm very picky with my acai bowls, I find that some places make them more smoothie and watery. I love it when they're rich and thick. Sol Bowls makes sorbet style bases which is why I'm so in love with what they make. I highly recommend ordering the Sol Bowl (I added cocoa nibs and coconut) or the Shore Break (if you prefer coconut sorbet with pineapple and spirulina instead of acai). Don't be deceived by how small the small size looks. It definitely looks like a lid, but it is still extremely filling. My only note is it would be nice to have a bigger small bowl (with the same current portion size) just to make scooping easier. If you want to add anything, I highly recommend adding almond butter to your bowls, it's a nice savory addition to all the sweet things inside. My friends loved the drip coffee and latte they ordered. I wasn't too crazy about the matcha, but once I mixed it more it was pretty good. ***PRICE*** The small bowls start at $9 with an added $1 for any additional topping you want to add. ***CONCLUSION*** If you're looking to feel tropical and beachy, I highly recommend eating the rainbow at Sol Bowls. This little shop is super cute! Staff was very friendly and helpful, it took a little while to get our food just because it was Labor Day weekend and it was packed out the door. Before we walked the beach we came to this hole in the wall açaí bowl place for a quick and easy snack. We picked up two acai bowls (Sol,Pier) to go. There is a multiple little benches to wait for your bowl, definitely beach themed. The base of the bowl leaned more dense smoothie like rather than a creamy ice cream like consistency. We found the toppings to be the perfect amount. The strawberries were sweet and added nut butter tasted phenomenal. I live in Jacksonville, but I'm in the area very frequently. To be honest, I don't look in this little strip very often, but noticed new Sol Bowls. Looked at their site and decided to stop in for a treat. The place looks awesome! The vibe is great, the customer service was good, and the bowl was yummy! They closed while I was eating inside and one of the girls assured me that I could continue enjoying my time because it takes them a while to close up. That was very thoughtful. I got the Good Vibes, which is a Pitaya base, and it was wonderful. First time having that. Next time I'll try a different base so I can see which is my favorite. My son has celiac disease and also can't have dairy, so it's hard to find treats for him when we go out. Can't wait to bring him here and him be able to order whatever! So happy to have this addition in EI. Great place for me to bring visitors too. It was a little pricy for me personally because I watch the budget, but it was really good, and I'll be glad to come back. read more
