I am in my acai bowl phase of my life at the moment. But it is an expensive treat and I rarely seek it out. But I have heard good things of the new-ish Fruit Stand, located right by Cleveland's Playhouse Square, so I resigned to paying $13 bucks for a bowl of fruit and granola, and tried it out for lunch before a show in May 2026. This place was HOPPING at 12pm on Sunday in May 2026. And the music they had on were all early-2000s BOPS! It is also very instagram-friendly inside. If I had more time, I would have gotten better pictures. The young girl behind the counter was very sweet and helped me create the best bowl for my mood that day. I ordered the medium acai bowl ($12) although I was worried if I was going to be able to finish it in time for the Broadway show I was going to next door. (Spoiler alert - I definitely finished it!). I got the mixed soft serve base of strawberry acai and peach soft serve. It had melted by the time I got to it as it was on the bottom. #life of a slow eater Then I got to choose 3 fruits. I chose banana slices, strawberries, and pineapple. As for the crunchy toppings, I got half and half of birthday cake granola (yes) and oreos (yes yes)! Then had honey as my drizzle. They were VERY generous with the honey! My creation looked gorgeous! I went and ate it quickly in their upstairs seating space and dealt with a little bit of a sugar crash later in the day! I wish they had some healthier crunchy and drizzle topping options! And my strawberry slices were still a bit frozen. But overall, I loved my lunch from The Fruit Salad. I've been hearing about the Fruit Stand everywhere so when I was already parked in the area for something else I knew I had to pop in. When K was there, their special was blueberry or wildebeest acai. I opted for the twist option topped with berries, bananas, granola with dried cranberries and Nutella on top. With all topping options, you can be as healthy or as decadent as you want! I chose an açaí blend as a base while my friend chose pound cake. There was a wide variety of toppings from fruit, nuts, various granolas and even gluten-free options! After choosing toppings, we were invited to choose two drizzles to top our bowls. I chose almond butter and a dash of Nutella. The atmosphere inside the store was bright and clean. The store is centrally located in the theatre district and is pretty easy to find. While visiting Downtown CLE recently I went for an early morning jog (my first in a while). My body punk'd out on me, but luckily this spot was open early enough for me to energize my weary body. The gentlemen behind the counter was funny and knowledgeable, and quickly made me some liquid nourishment, so that I could bitch-jog my way back to the Airbnb I was staying. I'll DEF be back when I'm in the area again. One suggestion to the owners/management - have 2XL and 3XL tees on hand. The Fruit Stand is amazing. When they first opened in Kent a few years back, I told everybody who would listen how jealous I was that they have this spot available in their community. I was overjoyed when I heard they're open in Cleveland, and it's even better that it's in Playhouse Square! The gist here is that The Fruit Stand is a healthy meal/dessert (depending how you look at it). I typically order an acai bowl, which comes with a frozen yogurt base and toppings, crunch and drizzle of your choosing. They always have a nice selection of fresh and colorful fruits and the employees are always happy to give you creative combinations to try if you're indecisive. I like The Fruit Stand because it isn't a chain and also strives to bring some healthier alternatives to the area. The prices are fair for so much fresh. (not frozen) hand-cut fruit. They also serve smoothies, but I prefer to eat my fruits, not drink them!
