I have visited the Copper Moon multiple times in the past month. I go because they have a smoothie on the menu. It usually includes fruit such as banana, strawberry, kiwi, and pineapple. I can't even begin to tell you how sad I am that we did not get coffee here. We literally could not find it and when we finally did we had already gotten our coffee elsewhere. We stuck our heads in to say hello and tell them we had been by three times and the barista joked he's seen us casing the joint, but it was a snowstorm and we are little babies from Vegas and one flake of snow is just too many not to mention being almost blown over. But it is just the cutest hole in the wall and I would have loved having coffee here in a snowstorm! It was dirty and lots of fruit flies. The barista did not ask me what kind of milk I wanted when she realized she didn't have regular milk. She used oat milk and then just told me and expected me to be cool with it. I hate oak milk like hate it and she was upset that I did not want the drink. Never ever had this happen before and it's weird to assume oat milk is a substitute for whole milk. Not only was this an awful experience but it also took forever. I was so frustrated. HAHAHAHA OMG This is the craziest coffee shop I have ever been to and I love it! So classy and sophisticated but with some very interesting art. After my boyfriends brother recommended this place to us because of the quirky owner and really great coffee drinks we went out of our way to get some and YES it's worth it! It's definitely hidden but we were staying at the Crowne Plaza across the street and it was a nice walk to there from the hotel. We got the caramel macchiatos and mocha and he was really Really REALLY eager to add whipped cream to our drinks. He said it's homemade and made in house and even though I don't normally get it in my drinks, when in Cleveland! I wished we stayed in Cleveland longer so I could honestly keep coming back here! I've walked past Copper Moon a hundred times and finally decided to go in - and it was worth it. Yeah it's a whole in the wall, but don't be fooled! This is a great coffee shop run by people who actually know coffee. My French press was made in front of me from bean grinding to pour and came out smooth and flavorful. My friend got the "white girl special" (pumpkin spice, caramel, butterscotch) and she said it makes her never want to go back to Starbucks. The prices are very, very reasonable as well. They have non-coffee options including smoothies and milkshakes, and some bakery in the back if you ask for it. There's a lot of good coffee options downtown and you can add Copper Moon to the list. Visited the copper moon in downtown today. WOW! This tiny little location is right next to the Statler apartments, and is way too good for words. First of all, James the owner is the friendliest human on the planet. You can tell that he loves everything about his craft. I ordered a lavender latte, and he went the extra mile to make it the best he could by surprising me with an added pump of vanilla and cardamom spice. Second, the prices are INSANE(in a good way) here, I would never feel like I'm spending too much money on coffee if I went here every day! And lastly, the coffee itself is spectacular. First of all, can we talk about the counter? Because it's gorgeous. This is another stop on my coffee shops of the Greater Cleveland Area tour and I love it. This place is literally a hole in the wall but if you're in the area and thinking about going to Starbucks, I'd say come here instead (unless you really need a place to sit and do work because this isn't an option here) - it's very close to Starbucks and the coffee and other drinks are fantastic. I had the mocha this time around and I mean, come on, just look at that picture! It wasn't very sweet which was nice but had a nice full taste. My friend got the London Fog which she absolutely adored. Overall, love love this place - definitely recommend you stop by! read more

This is the best coffee place in the downtown area. The copper moon is more of a coffee bar rather than an actual café, but their coffee speaks for itself. I got a hazelnut latte and it had a great subtly sweet flavor with still a good amount of hazelnut taste. The interior is quaint and the baristas are very funny and kind. I can only rate this place based on their Smoothies, because I cannot bring myself to order anything other. Food experience: Have you ever had a sip of something and felt like you've been punched in the face by flavor? yeah that's what the first sip is like; a Die-Hard Movie level explosion, except you're not jumping through glass and the explosion is happening in your mouth. This was the first time my co-workers tried The Copper Moon, I enjoyed the wide-eyed exclamations of "WOW" on that first sip. The texture of the drinks are very smooth (well blended) with no chunks of fruit left from the blender. In my mango pineapple I enjoyed that I could feel each individual strand of the pineapples with the overall sweetness of a perfectly ripened mango. There is no lingering bitterness from the yogurt, and drinking it leaves me with a very refreshed feeling. One co-worker mentioned that the strawberry kiwi smoothie had an excellent balance of strawberry to kiwi flavor (whereas most places is overpowering with the strawberry) which is indicative of some high quality kiwi's being used. Order (no artificial fruit flavoring, all real fruits): Strawberry Kiwi smoothie Blueberry banana smoothie Mango Pineapple smoothie Components: Fresh cut fruit, based on the flavor of the various smoothies I've gotten, they only use ripe fruits. I've never gotten one where it was flavorless or had the taste of an unripe (or overripe) fruit. When I was watching them gather all the parts of the smoothies I ordered (for myself and two co-workers) I was impressed to see that each cup were almost half full of the fruits the barista was cutting! 2% milk, almond milk (I think), bunch of different spices, chilled (or frozen) yogurt and some ice, all blended together. Prep Time: Took roughly 5-10 minutes to have the order made, but there was no doubt it was all freshly prepared. Price: 3.00 for a small, 3.50 for a medium and I don't remember how much for a large. A great price considering you're paying almost twice that for the same amount from other places. Closing Thoughts: Epic Win. You should go and try them for yourself. Leave your own experience/opinion! I am always left with a sense of sadness and loss when I finish my smoothie, usually gone before I even make it back to the office. I think about ordering some of the other things they offer (cold coffee, iced latte..etc), but standing there, looking at the menu, those damn smoothies call to me, nay they DEMAND that I order another with their siren song of deliciousness, taunting me as I know that finding a place with a similar level of quality borders on impossible. I hate them for limiting my experience with The Copper Moon, but I love them with each euphoric sip I take. read more

I don't like coffee. The Copper Moon has provided me with literally the best coffee I've had in my life. I went back a second time. It's one of those places where you can tell that the (Jake, and his wife Allison "helps out") is genuinely passionate about their product. There are all these little details with every order you place - like, the carefully dun spirals of whipped cream and chocolate if you go the sweet route, or the incredibly well-balanced nutty flavor if you go the opposite way. You certainly can order a normal black drip coffee for under $2. No muss, no fuss. If you'd rather a french press, that's also available - but you may have to wait *as they do all their french press coffees fresh*. Or you can go full Starbucks and get a latte with whipped cream and flavoring and the barest hint of bitter coffee flavor but the greatest density of caffeine possible. But, I don't like coffee. And then you have, what, to me, is the more interesting side. If you're polite about it, Jake and Allison are very willing to take over the creative reins for your order. Just specify hot/cold, a direction to take the drink in, and caffeine on a scale of 1-10, and you'll be presented with true art. The closest I could compare it to is if a chef is playing around in the kitchen, comes up with something amazing, and says, "here, try this". The place itself is a tiny hole-in-the-wall in the same way that all the best barbecue joints look like somebody made it out of two-by-fours that fell off the nearest truck. Yes, the Copper Moon is well-decorated and full of charm, but it's also clear that Jake would sell coffee out of a hot dog stand, if he had to. I don't like coffee, usually. Coffee shares the same problem alcohol does - the product alone doesn't taste good to the majority of purchasers, so you end up with so many brands that are bitter messes because so many people will just dilute the taste anyway. Jake and Allison understand coffee, though. If you want a drink that celebrates the rich, earthy nuttiness and highlights the flavor of the bean, they can do that - just like an Old Fashioned can compliment the oakey burn of its whiskey. In short, whether you view coffee as a necessary evil to gulp down, an opportunity for a delightful sundae-like experience, a celebration of the natural flavors of the bean, or *even flat-out do not like coffee*, go the the Copper Moon. Tiny place with a lot of heart! I was wandering through the playhouse district in Cleveland and came across this gem. James is super proud of his trade and served up some fresh loose leaf brewed iced green tea shaken with some ginger and lemon. Although I already had my coffee for the afternoon I watched what the other barista was serving up and came to conclusion this place serves up some amazing craft coffee drinks at a great price.
