Found this little gem while passing through Cedar Rapids. Located inside NewBo City Market the competition is stiff with several other small business food vendors. I wouldn't hesitate to choose this spot again. I couldn't decide on which rice bowl to get so I got two small ones. The No Coast and the Chana Masala. The owner insisted the No Coast was a fan favorite but after having both I think people are missing out on the Chana Masala. Both were equally delicious but the complex flavors of the Chana put it on top for me. Get both chutneys and don't be afraid of the jalapeño spice. I also tried the Spring rolls loaded with carrots, purple cabbage and micro greens with a yummy peanut dipping peanut sauce that really makes the roll. The owner is super friendly and there's something about seeing micro greens growing in the space that makes you feel good. read more

So happy to see this NewBo incubated business strike out on its own in the old Czech Deli location. Stopped in for an açaí bowl and avacado toast this weekend. Bowl was good and included presumably home made peanut butter (yum!) and fresh raspberries. "Toast" could've been toasted a bit more for my liking, but toppings which included oyster mushrooms and pickled onions were yummy. Atmosphere needs a little work - including a sound shield for the mixers making the smoothies. Staff was friendly. I will be back to try more menu items and wish the best for this place. read more

Many vegans around me recommended it, so we gave it a try. All food we got was delicious and fresh. No Coast Bowl: I could taste each ingredient disrinctly and at the same time, they mingled well. I especially liked the mild kick of green onion and cilantro in the mix. Black bean was soft and melted in my mouth. Two of us shared the bowl and a couple of side dishes together, and I wished we had ordered the large bowl instead of the regular. Vegan corn muffin: a must item! It's only $1.50 and it's worth every penny. Very savory, not so sweet, and crumbly with real corn kennels inside. Lots of fun chewing it and also filling. Grilled vegan sausage: they use Tofurky brand. It's half of a sausage stick. I wish they use a whole. Oh, well. It went well with the corn muffin and the bowl. It would be a bit dry to eat it by itself. They don't have vegan cheese on their menu, so I asked. They said when they tried it a while ago, they didn't like the taste. I recommended that they try one by Follow Your Heart. Note that this is a booth in an indoor market. So you pick up your food and eat in the seating area or out in the lawn. They also change menu frequently and have a limited open hour. read more

We got 3 dishes today and loved them all! The lemon garlic sauce on the No Coast bowl was amazing. The Chana Masala bowl was also fantastic and really enjoyed the spicy mint chutney on it. Everything was fresh and delicious. We tried all 3 lemonades - the mint is definitely the best! The Full Bowl is a gem inside the NewBo City Market. Taste was great. Portion to cost is a little small. They have 3 bowl options and are all vegan. I also tried the vegan cornbread and vegan sausage. The cornbread is good could be better, it was dry. Rice and bean bowls are as common here as pork tenderloin sandwiches are in Mumbai. I had the No Coast Bowl which won over this Iowa boy with layers of rich flavors, multiple textures and actual substance. Went to Newbo Market for the first time today and perused my options for lunch. After much consideration, I decided to branch out and try the No Coast bowl (without beans). I'm a pretty picky eater, but the No Coast bowl was amazing! The lemon garlic sauce and the salsa was divine (and not too spicy) and the cilantro, green onions, and red cabbage toppings complimented it nicely. It was a little pricey for the size, but everything's organic and home made, so you're getting a quality rice bowl. My friend also got a muffin, which was given to her for free since it was the end of the day. Great service and great food! Will definitely be coming back. read more

I was visiting Cedar Rapids with my husbands family and it was convenient to find a place where I could get a hearty vegan meal while they got burgers right across the hall. I got the No Coast Bowl which came with a super tasty unique sauce on mixed in. This was the only item on the menu that was not vegan, BUT it's just a sprinkle of cheese that they swapped out for avocado. The African peanut stew sounded great but it was 95 degrees and we were on our way to a baseball game, so that sounded like a risky situation! There are two size options for your bowl. A little hit or miss, this vegetarian/vegan/gluten free spot is a nice addition to NewBo for folks with those restrictions. I got the New Mexican Green Chile Stew and quite liked it. It had a little smoke and heat, although not nearly as much as I was expecting given the repeated warnings about how spicy it was. The corn muffins were good - I'd be very pleased if I'd made them myself, but I think I could probably replicate it at home. The No Coast Bowl seemed a bit a bland to me - I didn't really get much flavor other than the beans and rice.
