Leslie is the best!! My friend and I stopped in on a whim last week and Leslie hooked us up! I'm a big IPA gal but my friend isn't so Leslie let us try a few beers to see which one we wanted. The Funky Monkey is definitely dive-y and unassuming. The prices for the chips+salsa and beers we got were beyond reasonable, probably the best I've seen in the Bay Area in a long time. Anyway, Leslie is a hoot and we'll definitely be back to see her again

Local bar. Reminds me of the town. Yes! The bartender tonight (Tuesday) doesn't seem personable but hey...I likes those type of people lol. Especially since I am personable, it fucks with them. Paid for with a credit card and there was no tip line so I couldn't give a tip. Did she deserve one? No. But I still tip. Eeeeyyyy did the jukebox just start playing some Lil Wayne? Ok I really like this joint. Spacious. Not alot of people here, so I'm good. I will fucks with this joint again

The definition of a Dive bar in downtown Hayward. Mostly regulars/locals and all walks of life. I saw tweekers, homeless, old people, young people and everything in between. I came with family so it was fine and we had a good time. Music from my 80s-90s era. DJ, small dance floor a pool table and a jukebox. The drinks are stiff and cheap. Decor from the 70s?? Bathrooms smell like urine and paper everywhere. I would not come here again unless I came with a group like this time. When we left the line was long to get in, I was amazed!!

Drinks 4 Service 4…read more Ambiance 5 Food 4 We came here on a slow Tuesday night. They were about 10-15 other guests but the places so big and spacious that it almost felt like we had a place to ourselves. There's a spot for a DJ/music and I can only imagine that they have some great shows here. The bartender was attentive, and while they weren't very personable you could tell that they knew several of the regulars. I didn't drink anything fancy, bourbon neat, but it was a fair pour. You order food separately. We are fish tacos, wings & nachos. The fish was fried and coleslaw had a touch of mayonnaise but not too much. This was my favorite dish. The wings of the nachos or what you expect, definitely flavorful and cooked well. We liked the crowd and will definitely be back to listen to some music and check out the lounge downstairs.

Once you enter in the bar, go to the right, they'll give you a stamp on your hand, and then you can head downstairs. There are many lounge areas, and small tables & chairs to sit and drink at. There are also pool tables to use for free! There's also a DJ that plays GOOD r&b, hip hop, pop, and even some throwbacks too! The DJ that night took song requests and even gave a shoutout to the birthday girl in our group too. The cocktails were good, and I'm sad I didn't take pictures of it (had too much fun). The waitress will come to your table and you can order there OR you can also order at the bar. When I ordered at the bar, the waitress was so nice and helped me bring the drinks over to our table. I also had a taste of the fries, and the cups and guac and it was tasty too! There's some parking right infront or a parking lot behind the bar. I will definitely come back!

They said they could accommodate me I made it just in time to catch Bruno Mars performance of "I just might." I was enjoying a beer. There was only one other patron at one end of the bar scrolling on his phone and a couple focused on each other near the window. None of the patrons were engaged in watching any of the TVs. I was 10' away from each. I was straining to hear the show with all the other noise from unwatched TVs but I managed. I ordered another beer. At which point, the juke box began to play so loud that not only could I no longer hear anything of the Grammy's, I couldn't hear myself think. I paid and left my beer on the counter. I get that this was not an ideal setting to watch the Grammy's but I had called ahead. There was no need to play the jukebox at that level given the patronage that was there IMO. The Grammy's come on once a year surely, watching Bruno Mars live is a better choice than a juke box.

We came on a Wednesday for karaoke and that was a fun night too. Their food in the back is sometimes a hit or miss. The drinks are always good but on the weekends when it's busy they limit the drinks to order to common drinks like margaritas shots and beer. I still haven't gone towards the back but I've seen in photos there is an outdoor there and I just found out they have a speakeasy downstairs through a hidden door in the wall up front. Can't wait to come again. I wish there were more places like this closer to me

Infact this is the first time I've been here since they opened the lower level and the lower level is definitely a dope addition. They have two separate drink menus for both levels and they also recheck ID for entering the lower level. Music here is always on point. They do a great job of mixing it up from classic bay area, to classic hip-hop and RNB and then back to current hip-hop and RNB. Drinks are usually hit or miss but bartenders, at least the lower level ones, are gorgeous babes. Of course I'll be back, even if I gave it and average rating it's still a good spot like I previously mentioned.

Doesn't know how to read a room...he'll play a few good songs for 20 seconds and then switch it up as soon as everyone is having fun. Try making a song request... it's a joke .. You'll see. He created a space where people felt safe to express themselves and enjoy music without feeling judged. Coming back tonight was already emotionally difficult for me because I am still grieving his loss heavily. I became emotional while trying to explain how much Drew meant to me and how some of the interactions that night made me feel dismissed and unwelcome during a vulnerable moment. I also want to respectfully mention that certain details surrounding Drew's passing did not need to be repeatedly brought up in conversation. I understand no harm may have been intended, but hearing those details spoken about so openly was deeply upsetting and emotionally difficult for me personally. I calmly approached the owner and said I wasn't trying to cause drama and simply wanted to express how hurt and unheard I felt. His response was, "I don't want drama," before walking away from me while I was crying and trying to explain myself. That moment honestly broke my heart even more. I completely understand businesses have rules, closing times, and boundaries. But when someone is grieving the loss of a person who helped create such a loving environment there, compassion and kindness matter deeply. Drew always made people feel like they could take up space and be themselves. I just wish my first experience returning after his passing had reflected even a fraction of the warmth and humanity he gave to others.

Decided to come here because I've been wanting to come to a hookah bar for a while ever since I went to Miami!! My coworker said this was the place to go and man it was such a vibe walking in. My friends and I arrived a little before 9 and the bartender told us happy hour ends at 9 so what did we do? We ordered as many drinks as we could before it hit 9 o'clock lol. Also the hookah didn't start till 9 so we had time to kill lol. Then we found out there was food in the back to like can this place get any better?? I ordered myself fried chicken with fries while we waited for the hookah to be brought to us. It was $20 per plate which was not bad since they served a huge amount of food and it was cooked freshly. I love fresh cooked food that's the best! Outside in the back is where the food and where to pay for the hookah too, we decided to get watermelon flavor, great choice!! It only was $30 for the hookah which is not bad at all, good pricing if you ask me! The type of music they were playing was like 2000 music which I love, I grew up listening to that music it was such a vibe all night! It's took like 10-15 minutes to get our food and man that food was soooo good and fresh I loved it!! Right after we got our Hooka and it was soo flavorful but not too heavy so it was more like a light head rush. The man in charge of the Hookah would come around and make sure we had enough hookah and would switch out the old square cubes and replace them with new one for us! Overall I loved this place the bartender was great customer service, music was such a vibe, food was great, and to top it off the hookah was on point!!
