Update: June 12 I have gone many times and today I was very disappointed in their professionalism. During my haircut every minute or two she would pause to answer the phone. I understand that it is important to answer to other customers but shouldn't someone else take care of the phone as well? I was not asked if I wanted my sideburns to be trimmed which is someone that seems to always be offered but maybe things have changed. The gel applied to my hair was very rushed as well. I have gone many times and really wonder if this is the same way the people I have recommended have been treated because I know I won't be recommending any more.

Well I'm a man of my word, and even though I probably wasn't really due for a new hair doo I made my way to Universal Kutz to get my hair chopped! First off this place rules, there were 9 barbers in all, shaving, snipping, and cutting at the same time in the big rectangled room! Everything from Kid N Play flat tops, to shaved heads, to afro cuts, to whatever I was about to have! I gave Ian full reign on what ever he wanted to do to my head! He told me he would give me a great clean cut that will be perfect for the summer and will grow out better then the cuts I have been getting at home! I really loved the atmosphere in here, dudes chatting, watching ESPN, and a couple a little kids dancing round the room. It was a super fun environment! Now most of the time you need an appointment but Ian said he would fit me in when ever I came in, and he did! I got on the chair and was out of there in less then a half hour! He did a fantastic job and I even ran into a friend later that day and he said I looked, "Hip" that has not been a word some has chosen to describe me in a long time! I will definitely be back to Universal Kutz, hell I might come just to hang out!

I said yes - barber doesn't do straight razor and I can cancel and reschedule. Since I had taken time out of my day just a cut. 35 dollars for the basic buzzed deputy army cut..I asked not to much off the top and no skin on the sides. Got skin on the sides and look balding up top because it's basically a buzz cut like military. Yeah I won't be back. Barbers in DM are not what they could be. 60 bucks cash in phoneix for a straight razor shave, haircut, hair wash, hot towel facial, the Ortiz special was legit a great experience.. back to great clips in Iowa - scissors and scotch was not for me either

I'm retired, on a strict budget and I have to save for haircuts, it was a big deal to me. Tony has so many great reviews that I felt I was in good hands. He seemed like a nice guy, we talked about the cut. He basically did ever that I DIDN'T want. That would not be a big deal, sometimes it takes a cut or two to get it right IF THE QUALITY WAS THERE. It's a choppy mess. The fade I didn't want is choppy and uneven. I lost months of growth that I was specific about leaving as much as possible. , but I did say that if he needs to go shorter to connect everything that's ok - assuming he knew what he was doing. I felt ok after he was finished, I knew it wasn't great but when I got home ... yikes. It's like a joke it's so bad. In hindsight they were polite but I did not feel "welcome" ... I was hoping to find a regular barber. They are close and reasonably priced but obviously not a good fit.
