So far, so good. 15 minutes from Corvallis. Clean kitchenette studio, if a bit dated (metal burners, green tile) and worn (nicks in the furniture). Some items were very new (kitchen faucet, shower/tub head and controls) which shows me owners who maintain their property but are not spendy enough to do a full makeover, which is fine with me, as that keeps the rates low for me at $100/night. Check in was efficient and quick. Check out will be even quicker as I was told I could leave the key in the room or use a key drop box at the office. Id definitely return for the price and proximity near Oregon State University. read more

Bathroom floors and shower had dirty grout. No handle or nonslip anything in shower. NO hairdryer, no coffeepot, barely any plugs. Beds were clean but my feet were black after walking across the the floor. Booking.com shows $66/night but we paid almost $300/night at the last minute. This one of the cleanest motels ever ! Visit took place over President's day weekend. The bedsheets were very clean. Except for the outer comforter had a "I need to be washed" odor to it. Small appliances: microwave, refrigerator, TV all in working condition. This motel is located off a major through highway connecting Corvallis to Newport, and it is also a logging town, so lots of noise from trucks on the highway. The caretakers appeared to be living onsite and were available for questions. Coffee, gas station, and fast food within walking distance. The motel is about 15 minutes from OSU. I don't always leave reviews and I kinda struggled with what to say. This motel has been upkept quite well. Vinyl plank floors, bathroom tile clean and new. Great bed, crisp linens. Heater worked ( thank God cause California girls freeze in Oregon!). Beautiful mums growing in front. BUT.... The housekeeper never came. All three days we returned after our outings and the room was not cleaned. The TP is the thinest one ply I've ever seen! There is usually no one in the office either. For the price, that was not great. It seems that there are people living there- but that is a casual 3 nite observation. The noise from the street is very loud, noise from neighboring rooms and noise from train tracks: very loud despite double paned windows. I think greatly overpriced for a motor motel with no housekeeping service and no elevator. But it was clean and well maintained, I must say. read more

Stopped here when we had car trouble and stayed 2 night. If you want a kitchenette, this is a very good place. The Good: - Price, they gave us a better deal for 2 nights - Big room - Very comfortable bed - Nice big table. - Kitchenett with microwave, cupboards, full size refrigerator-freezer in room - 2 burner stove top and microwave oven in room. - Big bathtub - Heat lamp bulb in bathroom - Easy walk to restaurants - Clean - Park right in front of the room door - TV with cable worked well Comments - Heat works, but is slow to start putting out warmth. Give it at least 5 mins. - Bring your own pots, pans, utensils etc as the kitchen is empty except for a dish cloth. - No coffee, but there is a latte stand next door, and we made our own tea in the kitchen. The Not-So-Good: - We could not stay connected to the WiFi for more than the initial 10 minutes. The manager allowed us to help him configure the wireless router, but never got it working consistently. We walked over to the library, about 7 blocks West to use the internet. read more

Okay I drive a commercial vehicle. My boss set me up for some rest time so that I would be in compliance with State and Federal commercial drive and sleep regulations. I got there like I was supposed to between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and nobody was there so I went over to Subway and got something to eat came back and still nobody was there but I just kept ringing the doorbell. Finally a Sleepy Man shows up it's about 9 a.m. and starts the check-in process. With the sleep running from his eyes he's trying to check me in, asking me to fill out some paperwork which I do and then asks to see my ID which I give him. My boss never told me how much this was going to cost. He hands me a slip from the credit card machine to sign and it says $217. Of course I freak out. There is no way in god's green earth I'm going to pay $217 to sleep there from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that's 6 hours. He admitted there was a mistake but I don't believe that I believe he was trying to pocket an extra hundred bucks off the company. So I got in the room and after reading some of the reviews on Yelp I was extremely concerned. I started checking for bed bugs and hair. I not only found hair on the bathroom floor I found hair in the bed. I also saw yellow stains on the sheets in the bed. Now they might have been clean but when they are stains that can't be taken out you should just throw the sheet away because the customer doesn't know. It was very disgusting. I went and slept in my commercial vehicle. My boss just needed the receipt for the Department of Transportation. If you must stay here good luck. I'm sorry but I just can't give a place that I find bed hair and floor hair from somebody else's body anything more than one star it doesn't even deserve that. read more

Came to Philomath to visit family and thought I could still do an air mattress. Not so much and this place is close. Two nights, king size bed and two dogs, two adults, $234.14. Room is clean. Heat works. Vinyl plank flooring which I prefer over nasty carpet that there is no telling what is in it. Bring slippers though, it's cold. Front desk was helpful but not overly friendly. But that's fine by me. I'm not trying to make friends, I just need a room. Boyfriend says the shower is hot. Toilet paper is lame ass one ply. Kitchenette with a single serve coffee pot and mini fridge. Seems a little expensive but whatever. Beats throwing my back out on the air mattress. read more

For an older, no-frills roadside motel, the Galaxie was great. The woman who checked us in was very friendly. Our room with two queen beds and a mini-fridge was spacious and clean; it seemed to have been recently renovated. I liked that it had smooth laminate flooring instead of carpet (which I'm sometimes suspicious of in motels). Upon turning on the AC there was a slight smell, but that went away in a minute. All that would make this about a 4-star review for a moderately priced small-town motel. But - best of all - I had made a reservation here a year prior to The Great American Eclipse of 2017, for what seemed like a typical price (around $80). At that time, it was one of the few places left in the totality zone with rooms still available for August 20-21. Unlike the way some other hotels in the 100% zone treated their customers (i.e., cancelling reservations and/or charging extremely high rates), Galaxie honored my original reservation with zero hassle. I'd be happy to stay here again on my way to or from Newport, or if I had things to do in Corvallis. read more

WOW WOW WOW! How absolutely DISGUSTING this motel was! We checked in at about 10:00pm after driving through the Oregon Coast. Trust me, I know motels are not the cleanest, however, this motel will be my last! The woman working at the front desk was borderline polite initially and took down every bit of information she could get from me. The room was very large with two queen size beds and a kitchenette. The woman up front wanted to know if we would be using both beds (if so, there would be a $5 additional charge), I assured her I would only be using one for my girlfriend and myself. Once we got into our room I did my customary thorough bedbug search and/or unclean sheets, etc. The bed I chose to search coincidently had a huge urine stain which obviously was somewhat fresh and smelled disgusting! I was thrown off and went immediately to the front desk to inform this woman of the bed situation and asked to sleep in the other bed, she said okay (no apologies). She then phoned our room asking if she could take the sheets out immediately. When she came she said "it's dark when they come to pick up the sheets." Are you kidding me!? Is it NOT normal and customary for you to remove all bedding (except the comforter of course) after each use? She didn't have a reasonable explanation. I was exhausted from driving all day and just hoped the next bed over was as clean as it appeared. The bathtub had what looked like a pubic hair as well as one of the wash cloth I used.. Moving on.. The next morning I went to turn in the key and asked the man up front if I could speak to a manager. I then explained the situation and told him how disgusted I was and the lack of sleep I got at this motel. I asked for at least a partial refund and the answer I got from him was just "No!" ..I told him to expect a Yelp review and stormed off. Again, no apologies and definitely horrible customer service. To top it off, the same woman who had initially helped us and took the one nasty sheet was walking up to me with this nasty look on her face. She started to argue with me over why I demand a refund and if I didn't like what I saw when I first got there then I should've asked for a refund immediately and stayed elsewhere. I'm sorry, when you are from California and have been driving all day with no vacancies in the area, you kind of have no choice. Urine in a bed is NOT normal, if this were my motel I would definitely refund my customer for the inconvenience. I told her I was done talking to her and it was pointless for her to come out JUST to argue with me and she called me a "stupid bitch". Nice! DO NOT EVER STAY AT THIS MOTEL! read more

Rooms booked in Corvallis for Mom's Weekend, graduation, or sports events? The Galaxie motel is just ten minutes away from OSU and downtown Corvallis, located in Philomath. The hotel has very clean rooms and is owned by my daughter's second-grade classmate's parents. The owners live on site and take very good care of the grounds and the rooms. If you want a nice, clean place to stay for a great rate - this is the place to go. You are guaranteed a parking space in front of your room. About what you might expect for an inexpensive room. Basic, spacious. No obvious stains on carpet, bedspread, etc. Some noise from the highway in front, but not intolerable. Minimal housekeeping effort. When I arrived there was still a dirty towel hanging inside the bathroom door, toilet paper was effectively gone (and no other rolls), there were stray hairs on the bathroom floor, shower, etc. Despite the sign out front saying "Kitchen" and the other reviews here, there was nothing like that in my room (no refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, etc.) Shower curtain smelled like old cigarettes despite being a "no smoking" room. Showerhead is at about shoulder-level. Takes 5+ minutes to get someone to the front counter, to help you or answer any questions. Was not a bad experience all-around. Just wanted to give a heads-up so you can set your expectations accordingly. read more
